If you are looking for a button that turns your personal Facebook profile into a business Page, Facebook’s current Help Center does not document a universal profile-to-Page conversion process. The dependable approach is to create a separate Page from the profile you use to manage your business.
Your personal profile will remain unchanged. If keeping its friends, followers, posts, and photos is more important than creating a distinct business presence, Facebook’s alternative is Professional mode.
Can you still convert a Facebook profile into a business Page?
Not through a currently documented, guaranteed Meta workflow. Older articles may refer to Create a Page based on your Profile or the address facebook.com/pages/create/migrate. That migration option is unavailable for many accounts and should not be treated as Facebook’s current standard process.
Facebook now separates the two products:

Do not create a second personal Facebook account under your business name. Facebook requires people managing Pages to use profiles based on their authentic identity.

How to create a business Page from your profile
On a computer
- Log in to Facebook with the authentic personal profile that will manage the business.
- Open facebook.com/pages/create.
- Enter the business or brand’s Page name.
- Choose a relevant Category.
- Enter an optional Page bio.
- Click Create Page.
- Click Done.
This creates a new professional presence. It does not rename or replace your personal profile, and you need a Facebook account to create or manage the Page.
After the Page is created
Complete the Page’s basic business information, then add a profile picture, cover photo, action button, and—if useful—a connection to WhatsApp. Use the business’s real contact details and choose an action button that matches the way customers reach you, such as calling, messaging, booking, or visiting a website.
How to create a Page username
A username gives the Page a shorter address, such as facebook.com/YourBusiness. It may not be available immediately for a newly created Page.
- Click your profile photo in the top right.
- Click See all profiles.
- Select the new Page.
- Click the Page’s profile picture in the top right.
- Choose Settings & privacy, then Settings.
- In the left menu, select Page setup.
- Click Username.
- Click Edit next to the username.
- Enter the desired username.
- If Facebook says it is available, click Save changes.
A username can be unavailable because someone else has taken it, Facebook has not approved it, or it was removed after inactivity. Try a variation that still clearly identifies the business instead of repeatedly submitting the same unavailable name.

How to switch between your profile and Page
- Click your profile photo in the top right.
- Click See all profiles.
- Select the Page.
You are then operating in the Page’s Feed. Posts, comments, and other activity can appear as actions taken by the Page rather than by your personal profile. To switch back, click the Page photo in the top right, choose See all profiles, and select your personal profile.
What happens to your old profile content?
Creating a Page is not a migration. Meta’s current instructions do not promise that any of the following will move automatically:
- Friends or followers
- Posts, photos, or videos
- Messages
- Reviews
- Insights
- Your profile username or history
Plan as though the Page starts separately. Re-create important business information, publish an introductory post from your personal profile, and manually repost material you own and want to use on the Page. Do not delete the personal profile until you have confirmed that you can access the Page and have arranged another trusted administrator where appropriate.
Also note that Page posts on Facebook are public. If you need to adjust post privacy settings, Meta directs users to create the post in Meta Business Suite instead.

Use Professional mode if you want to keep the profile
Professional mode is the better fit when the business is closely tied to you as an individual—for example, a consultant, creator, coach, author, or public figure. It adds professional tools to the existing profile; it does not create a Page or convert the profile into one.
Desktop instructions
- Click your profile photo in the top right.
- Click your name to open your profile.
- Click the options button below your cover photo.
- Click Turn on professional mode.
- Click Turn on.
Meta says Professional mode keeps your current friends, followers, profile content, and privacy settings. It adds content and audience insights, enhanced safety features such as Moderation Assist, and eligibility for certain discovery and monetization opportunities if your account qualifies. Facebook also sets Who can follow me to Public; you can change that setting later.

Common problems and fixes
The “Create a Page based on your Profile” option is missing
This usually means the older migration flow is not available to your account. Use facebook.com/pages/create to make a separate Page, or turn on Professional mode if preserving your profile is the priority.
Page creation is unavailable on mobile
Basic mobile browsers and Facebook Lite may not support Page creation. Use the Facebook app for iOS or Android, or create the Page from a computer.

Facebook rejects the Page name
Review the name for misleading wording, excessive generic terms, unusual formatting, or other violations of Facebook’s naming rules. Use the business’s actual public name and avoid stuffing the name with slogans, phone numbers, or product claims.
You are creating a fan page, not representing the organization
Meta says only official representatives may create a Page for a business, organization, brand, or public figure. If you are creating an unofficial discussion space or fan community, a Facebook Group may be the appropriate option.
The new Page does not appear
Click your profile photo, select See all profiles, and look for the Page. You must have Facebook access to that Page before it will appear in the switcher. If someone else created it, ask that person to grant you the appropriate Page access.
You accidentally made duplicate Pages
Duplicate business Pages are a separate issue from converting a profile. Facebook may allow Pages representing the same business to be merged when they meet its requirements, but creating a Page does not merge personal profiles or Facebook accounts.

FAQ
Will my Facebook friends automatically become followers of the new business Page?
Do not assume they will. Facebook’s current Page-creation instructions do not promise that profile friends or followers transfer. Invite relevant people or announce the new Page manually.
Will my personal posts, photos, and videos move to the Page?
No automatic transfer is promised. Treat the Page as a separate presence and manually repost business content that you own and want to reuse.
Does Professional mode turn my profile into a business Page?
No. Professional mode remains attached to your personal profile and adds professional tools. It does not create a separate Page.
Should I create a second Facebook account using my business name?
No. Facebook personal profiles are intended to represent individuals using authentic identities. Create a Page for the business and manage it from your authentic personal profile.
The Bottom Line
There is no current, universal Facebook tool that reliably converts a personal profile into a business Page. Create the Page at facebook.com/pages/create, then build its business information and content separately. Choose Professional mode instead when the goal is to keep your personal profile, audience, and existing content while adding creator-focused tools.
