How to Compare CCC Intelligent Solutions With Other Insurance Technology Stocks

The right way to compare CCC Intelligent Solutions is by insurance workflow, financial quality and valuation—not by treating every software company that sells to insurers as a direct peer. CCC is a software-as-a-service and artificial-intelligence platform focused on auto-insurance claims and collision repair. Verisk is more heavily weighted toward insurance data and analytics, while Guidewire is associated with core policy, billing and claims systems. They share insurance customers, but their products, revenue mixes, growth measures and risk profiles differ.

For an investable comparison, align the same reporting periods, separate GAAP results from company-defined adjusted measures, examine recurring-revenue quality and cash generation, and then use same-date market data to calculate valuation. The operating figures below can show how the businesses differ; they do not, by themselves, establish which stock is cheaper or the better investment.

What CCC Intelligent Solutions does

CCC Intelligent Solutions Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: CCC) describes itself as a SaaS and AI platform provider for the insurance economy. Founded in 1980, it built its business around automotive insurance claims and collision repair. Its software supports claim intake, documentation, estimating, repair coordination, network management and payment-related processes.

CCC says its platform connects more than 35,000 businesses. That figure is a company disclosure rather than an independent market measurement. The participants can include insurers, repair shops, automakers, parts suppliers and other parties involved in a claim. CCC’s strategic pitch is that one cloud platform and network can coordinate work that would otherwise move through disconnected systems.

CCC is a software company, not an insurance carrier

CCC does not underwrite policies, collect premiums or pay claims as an insurer does. Its customers use software and data services to process insurance work. That distinction matters when comparing it with insurance stocks: claims frequency, repair costs and insurer technology budgets can affect CCC, but CCC does not carry the same underwriting risk as a carrier.

Why the network matters

CCC identifies its cloud platform, proprietary data, network and ability to deploy workflow software and AI as competitive advantages. A network can become more useful when additional insurers, repairers, suppliers or automakers participate because information can move across more of the claim process. However, the existence of a network does not prove that customers cannot switch. CCC’s 2025 Form 10-K also describes a competitive and fragmented market that includes in-house systems, insurance software vendors, horizontal technology providers and ecosystem-focused vendors.

Choose peers by the workflow they sell

Start by identifying the problem each company solves. A company can serve insurers without competing directly with CCC. The following framework prevents a misleading “insurance technology” basket.

Company or category Primary workflow Relationship to CCC What makes the comparison difficult
CCC Intelligent Solutions Auto claims, collision repair, estimating, repair coordination, network and payment-related workflows Reference company for this comparison Its results reflect a specialized auto-claims ecosystem and network model
Verisk Analytics (Nasdaq: VRSK) Insurance data, analytics and information products, including claims-related tools Adjacent comparison; may complement or overlap with selected claims use cases Verisk is substantially larger and has a different business mix and margin profile
Guidewire Software (NYSE: GWRE) Core insurance systems associated with policy, billing and claims administration Possible systems comparison; not a pure auto-repair peer Its investor materials emphasize annual recurring revenue and adjusted measures that are not interchangeable with CCC’s reported revenue and adjusted EBITDA
Insurer-built internal software Proprietary policy, claims, data or workflow applications Potential competitor to any vendor platform No public stock or standardized disclosures make a numerical comparison unavailable

Use Verisk when your question is about insurance data and analytics exposure. Use Guidewire when your question is about core-system modernization. Use CCC when you want exposure to auto-claims and collision-repair workflows. The overlap is real, but none of these companies is a perfect like-for-like peer.

CCC’s latest operating evidence

The latest CCC results identified here cover the quarter ended June 30, 2026, and were announced July 30, 2026. All figures in this section are issuer-reported and should be read with their stated accounting definitions.

CCC measure Quarter ended June 30, 2026 Full-year 2025 Interpretation
Revenue $285.9 million, up 9.8% year over year Revenue grew 12% year over year Reported growth; no constant-currency adjustment was stated for the quarterly figure
Gross margin 74% GAAP Not stated in the cited FY2025 release GAAP gross margin is not the same as adjusted EBITDA margin
Adjusted EBITDA $115.5 million; management described margin as approximately 40% Adjusted EBITDA margin of 41% Company-defined non-GAAP measure that requires reconciliation to GAAP results
Net income $20.8 million GAAP $1.7 million GAAP, versus $31.2 million in 2024 Bottom-line earnings can differ sharply from adjusted EBITDA
Free cash flow $82.4 million Not stated in the cited FY2025 release Review the company’s definition and whether cash generation is recurring
Cash and debt $115.9 million cash and $1.27 billion debt at June 30, 2026 Not stated in the cited FY2025 release Debt deserves attention alongside growth and margins

CCC’s full-year 2025 release reported 12% revenue growth and a 41% adjusted EBITDA margin. Yet GAAP net income was only $1.7 million, down from $31.2 million in 2024. That gap is not automatically a problem, but it means an investor must inspect stock-based compensation, amortization, restructuring, interest and other reconciliation items instead of treating adjusted EBITDA as equivalent to earnings available to shareholders.

Management’s stated positioning

In the July 30, 2026 earnings release, Chairman and CEO Githesh Ramamurthy said: “CCC delivered another quarter of solid execution, with second quarter revenue growth of 10% and adjusted EBITDA margin of approximately 40%. Our performance reinforces our vision for CCC to be the connective layer for the insurance economy – a network that helps every participant act, not just record.” This is management’s characterization, not an independent assessment. Use it to understand the company’s strategy, not as proof of competitive strength.

How CCC compares with Verisk

Verisk is the most useful adjacent public comparison when the focus is insurance data, analytics and claims information. It is not a scaled-up version of CCC. Verisk is substantially larger, sells a broader set of information products and reports materially different margins.

Measure CCC Verisk Comparison caution
Quarter and date Quarter ended June 30, 2026 Q2 2026 Confirm that the fiscal periods are aligned before calculating growth differentials
Revenue $285.9 million; up 9.8% year over year $806 million; up 4.3% Different scale and business mix
Organic constant-currency revenue Not stated for the cited quarter Up 5.8% Do not compare Verisk’s organic constant-currency rate directly with CCC’s unadjusted reported rate
Adjusted EBITDA $115.5 million; approximately 40% margin by management’s commentary $464 million; up 4.2%, or 7.4% on an organic constant-currency basis Definitions and reconciliation schedules are company-specific
Free cash flow $82.4 million $298 million Absolute cash flow mainly reflects Verisk’s larger scale

Verisk’s 2025 annual report said revenue grew 6.6% on an organic constant-currency basis, adjusted EBITDA grew 8.5% and adjusted EBITDA margin increased 150 basis points to 56.2%. Those are company-defined measures. Its described competition in property-and-casualty claims and catastrophe analytics includes repair-cost estimating, claims investigative reports, fraud analytics and injury-claims analytics.

The apparent growth comparison favors CCC if you simply place 9.8% beside 4.3%. That conclusion is incomplete. CCC’s figure is reported revenue growth, while Verisk also publishes organic constant-currency growth. Verisk’s larger, more diversified base can grow more slowly while producing higher absolute cash flow and margins. An investor should decide whether the desired exposure is faster specialized growth or broader insurance-data economics before looking at valuation.

How CCC compares with Guidewire

Guidewire is a possible core-systems comparison because insurers use its software for policy, billing and claims administration. That is a different position from CCC’s concentration in auto claims and collision repair. A carrier could use both types of products, so shared customers do not establish direct product competition.

The Guidewire Q2 FY2026 investor release located for this comparison emphasizes annual recurring revenue (ARR) and adjusted measures. ARR is a run-rate indicator for recurring contracts, not the same as recognized revenue for a reporting period. Guidewire’s adjusted figures also require its own reconciliation. The available material does not provide enough full-period financial detail for a reliable numerical side-by-side with CCC, so do not fill the gap with estimates or place ARR in a revenue table.

What to collect before adding Guidewire to a spreadsheet

  • Guidewire’s exact fiscal-quarter dates and whether the period is a quarter or year-to-date.
  • Reported revenue for that period, separate from ARR.
  • The company’s definition of ARR, including treatment of implementation, usage and multi-year contracts.
  • GAAP gross profit, operating income and net income.
  • Adjusted EBITDA or another non-GAAP measure with its reconciliation.
  • Operating cash flow, free cash flow, cash, debt and diluted share count.

Only after these items are aligned should Guidewire be compared with CCC on growth, profitability or valuation. Otherwise, the spreadsheet mixes different economic measures.

A useful growth comparison answers where growth came from and how durable it may be.

Step 1: Align the period and currency basis

Use the same quarter or the same fiscal year for every company. Mark each growth rate as reported, organic, constant-currency, acquisition-adjusted or another company-defined basis. A reported rate can include acquisitions and currency movements; an organic constant-currency rate attempts to remove those effects. They answer different questions.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Step 2: Separate recurring revenue from transactional exposure

Identify subscription, recurring data, usage-based, implementation and one-time revenue. CCC’s platform and network model can create recurring software relationships, but the quoted figures above do not establish a single recurring-revenue percentage. Do not infer one. For a peer, use the issuer’s stated recurring-revenue metric and definition.

Step 3: Test customer and workflow concentration

Ask whether growth depends on a few large insurers, a narrow claims workflow, expansion into existing accounts or new logos. Concentration can make a strong quarter less durable if a major customer delays implementation or reduces technology spending. CCC’s filing identifies customer demand and implementation as relevant factors.

Step 4: Check volume sensitivity

Auto claims and repair activity can affect the amount of work flowing through related software. A platform may still sell subscriptions during a weak claims period, but usage-linked or transaction-linked components can respond differently. Read contract and revenue disclosures rather than assuming every dollar has the same sensitivity.

Compare profitability on both GAAP and adjusted bases

Profitability should be viewed in layers. Start with GAAP gross margin, then GAAP operating income and net income, and only then examine adjusted EBITDA. This sequence shows the cost of delivering the product, running the company, financing it and issuing equity or acquiring businesses.

Layer Question to ask CCC evidence available here
GAAP gross margin How much revenue remains after direct costs? 74% for Q2 2026
GAAP operating income Does the business remain profitable after sales, research, administration and other operating costs? Not stated in the cited Q2 figures
GAAP net income What remains after operating costs, interest, taxes and other items? $20.8 million in Q2 2026; $1.7 million for FY2025
Adjusted EBITDA How does management view operating performance before selected exclusions? $115.5 million in Q2 2026; 41% margin for FY2025
Free cash flow How much cash remains after operating needs and capital spending under the company’s definition? $82.4 million in Q2 2026

For Verisk, the cited Q2 2026 adjusted EBITDA was $464 million, and its FY2025 adjusted EBITDA margin was 56.2%. Those figures can be useful context, but they are not a substitute for reading each company’s reconciliation. A higher adjusted margin may reflect business mix, capitalization, acquisition accounting or exclusions that differ between issuers.

Put cash generation and debt beside the margin story

CCC reported $82.4 million of free cash flow in Q2 2026, $115.9 million of cash and $1.27 billion of debt at June 30, 2026. The debt figure is a balance-sheet amount at quarter-end; the free-cash-flow figure is for one quarter. Do not annualize one quarter mechanically or compare it with a peer’s annual cash flow without stating the period.

Use the following checks:

  • Compare operating cash flow with net income over several periods to identify persistent cash conversion differences.
  • Review capital expenditures and capitalized software, because both affect free cash flow and can vary by accounting policy.
  • Read interest expense and debt maturities alongside adjusted EBITDA. Debt can limit flexibility even when an adjusted margin looks strong.
  • Check whether acquisitions, refinancing or equity compensation change the share count or reported leverage.
  • Distinguish cash on the balance sheet from restricted cash and confirm the date of every figure.

Verisk reported $298 million of free cash flow in Q2 2026. Its larger absolute amount is expected from a company that reported $806 million of quarterly revenue; it is not evidence by itself that Verisk converts a higher percentage of revenue into cash.

Valuation is the missing step in an investable comparison

Operating metrics cannot answer whether CCC, Verisk or Guidewire is attractively priced. The available material does not establish current share prices, market capitalizations, enterprise values or valuation multiples, so no current claim about relative cheapness is justified.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Data required on one date

  1. Closing share price for each stock on the same date.
  2. Basic or diluted shares outstanding, using a consistent convention.
  3. Total debt and cash from the latest available balance sheet.
  4. Trailing or forward revenue, EBITDA and earnings for the same forecast basis.
  5. Any material minority interest, preferred equity or lease adjustments included in the enterprise-value calculation.

Core formulas

  • Market capitalization = share price × chosen share count.
  • Enterprise value = market capitalization + debt − cash, with any additional adjustments stated.
  • EV/revenue = enterprise value ÷ revenue for the selected period.
  • EV/adjusted EBITDA = enterprise value ÷ adjusted EBITDA, using the issuer’s definition and a matching period.
  • Price/earnings = share price ÷ earnings per share, only when GAAP earnings are meaningful and comparable.

Do not pair a spot share price with an old balance sheet or mix one company’s trailing revenue with another’s forward revenue. Also avoid presenting adjusted EBITDA multiples as if they were GAAP earnings multiples.

Assess durability and competitive risk

CCC’s 2025 Form 10-K identifies software and AI functionality, performance and value delivery, innovation, network breadth, implementation and support, and customer preferences as competitive factors. These disclosures point to the questions an investor should investigate rather than guaranteeing an advantage.

Customer retention and concentration

Look for retention, renewal, expansion and concentration disclosures. A network may be valuable, but a large customer can still negotiate pricing or develop an internal alternative. If retention data are not disclosed on a comparable basis, mark them as unavailable rather than assuming loyalty.

Implementation risk

Insurance systems can require data migration, workflow redesign, integrations and training. Longer implementation cycles can delay revenue recognition and increase sales costs. A strong sales pipeline is less persuasive if deployments repeatedly slip.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Internal development and horizontal platforms

CCC says it competes with insurer-built systems, horizontal technology providers and other ecosystem vendors. Internal development can be a credible alternative when an insurer has engineering resources and wants control over data or workflow design. Horizontal platforms can also enter a specialized process if they offer adequate integration and lower total cost.

AI adoption and evidence quality

CCC positions AI as part of its platform. Evaluate AI claims through measurable customer outcomes, deployment rates, pricing, accuracy controls and regulatory or liability implications. “AI-enabled” is a product description, not proof of higher margins or durable market share.

Claims-volume exposure

Changes in driving patterns, repair costs, catastrophe activity and insurer claim volumes can affect demand for related tools. The direction and magnitude depend on contract structure and product mix, so avoid assuming that a rise or fall in claims automatically produces the same change in CCC’s revenue.

A practical worksheet for comparing the stocks

  1. Define the investment exposure. Decide whether you want auto-claims workflow, broad insurance analytics, core-system modernization or a diversified technology mix.
  2. Write the product map. For each company, list the buyer, workflow, pricing model, implementation requirements and principal alternatives.
  3. Normalize reporting periods. Record quarter-end dates, fiscal years and currency treatment before entering growth rates.
  4. Build a GAAP section. Enter revenue, gross margin, operating income, net income, cash, debt and diluted shares.
  5. Add a clearly separated non-GAAP section. Include adjusted EBITDA, ARR or organic growth only with the issuer’s definition and reconciliation.
  6. Measure cash conversion. Compare operating cash flow and free cash flow with net income over more than one period where possible.
  7. Stress the balance sheet. Review debt maturities, interest expense, refinancing needs and acquisition commitments.
  8. Collect same-date market data. Calculate enterprise value and consistent trailing or forward multiples.
  9. Score durability qualitatively. Record retention, customer concentration, implementation friction, network effects, switching costs, AI evidence and competitive threats.
  10. Write the disconfirming case. State what would make the thesis fail, such as slower implementations, weaker claims activity, pricing pressure, rising interest costs or a valuation that already discounts strong execution.

How to interpret the available evidence

CCC’s Q2 2026 profile combines nearly 10% reported revenue growth, a 74% GAAP gross margin, approximately 40% adjusted EBITDA margin and $82.4 million of quarterly free cash flow. It also includes $1.27 billion of debt and a large gap between adjusted EBITDA and GAAP net income in FY2025. That combination calls for a balanced analysis: operating execution may be solid, while financing costs, amortization, equity compensation or other adjustments still matter to shareholders.

Verisk’s Q2 2026 figures show slower reported growth but greater scale, $298 million of free cash flow and $464 million of adjusted EBITDA. Its 2025 organic constant-currency growth and 56.2% adjusted EBITDA margin illustrate a different mix and maturity profile. The figures are informative only after labeling the organic and constant-currency basis.

Guidewire belongs in the comparison when core insurance systems are part of the investment thesis, but the available figures do not support a full numerical table. ARR should remain an ARR measure, not be substituted for revenue.

Common comparison mistakes

  • Calling all three companies direct peers. Shared insurance customers do not mean identical products.
  • Comparing reported growth with organic constant-currency growth. The calculation bases differ.
  • Using adjusted EBITDA as net income. CCC’s FY2025 results demonstrate why reconciliations matter.
  • Ignoring debt because margins are high. CCC reported $1.27 billion of debt at June 30, 2026.
  • Comparing absolute cash flow without scale. Verisk’s $298 million quarterly free cash flow accompanies $806 million of revenue.
  • Putting ARR in a revenue column. ARR is a recurring run-rate metric, not recognized period revenue.
  • Declaring a stock cheap without market data. Valuation requires same-date prices, shares, cash, debt and consistent financial periods.
  • Treating management’s network or AI claims as independent proof. They are issuer disclosures and should be tested against retention, adoption and financial outcomes.

Bottom line for a CCC comparison

Compare CCC with Verisk when you want to understand the trade-off between a specialized auto-claims network and a broader insurance-data and analytics business. Add Guidewire when core insurance software is relevant, but keep its ARR and adjusted measures separate from CCC’s reported revenue and EBITDA. The most informative scorecard combines workflow overlap, growth quality, GAAP profitability, adjusted-metric reconciliations, free-cash-flow conversion, debt and same-date valuation. Until current market prices and multiples are collected, the evidence supports a business-model and operating comparison—not a conclusion that any one stock is cheaper or superior.
