To claim a Punjab State Lottery prize, first verify the ticket against the result and the draw’s own notification, then preserve the original ticket, obtain the claim form issued for that draw, and submit the form with the specified identity, tax, photograph, affidavit and bank documents. Do not rely on a universal 30-day rule or a single document checklist: the applicable scheme notification and current instructions control, and the available Punjab rules and forms are not identical.
What to do immediately after a possible win
Treat the ticket as the document that establishes your claim. Do not throw it away, laminate it, cut it, write on it, staple it or otherwise alter it unless the instructions for that particular draw expressly tell you to sign, endorse or photocopy it. Keep it flat and dry, protect it from heat and moisture, and store it where nobody else can access it.

- the draw notification identifies the same scheme, draw date, prize category and claim procedure.

Why the exact draw notification matters
Punjab lottery claims are governed by the terms of the particular scheme as well as by general lottery rules. Forms and instruction sheets located for different draws do not ask for exactly the same supporting material. One form lists Aadhaar and PAN copies, a cancelled cheque and three photographs, with two photographs attested. A separate instruction sheet calls for an attested photocopy of the ticket, four photographs and an ownership affidavit. Those differences are not a reason to choose the shorter list; they are a reason to obtain the form and checklist for your own draw.
The same caution applies to the filing period, payment route, prize thresholds and submission location. The evidence reviewed does not establish one current threshold at which every small prize changes from an agent claim to a Directorate claim. It also does not establish a single address or submission channel for every scheme. If the ticket, result notice and claim form appear to conflict, ask the Punjab State Lotteries Directorate to identify the controlling instruction before you submit.
Step-by-step: how to make a Punjab lottery claim
1. Match the ticket to the official result and scheme
Record the draw name, draw date, ticket number, series (if printed), prize category and the amount shown in the result notice. Check every character; a similar-looking number in a different series is not the same ticket. Keep a copy or photograph for your personal records, but do not treat a digital image as a substitute for the original when the rules require the original ticket.
Read the scheme notification all the way through, including the sections headed claim, payment, tax, unclaimed prizes, damaged tickets and submission. It should tell you whether the claim is handled by an authorised lottery agent or by the Directorate, and whether a separate form is required.
2. Preserve and document the original ticket
Rules state that a forged, torn, mutilated or tampered ticket will not be entertained. Where there is doubt, the Director may seek verification. A separate instruction sheet asks for the original winning ticket together with an attested photocopy. Keep the original in your possession until the claim has been accepted and any receipt or acknowledgement has been issued.

Make a clear scan or photocopy of both sides before submission. If the applicable instructions require an attestation, have the copy attested in the manner specified there; do not assume that an ordinary self-certified copy is sufficient. Do not add a signature, date or declaration to the ticket merely because another lottery uses that practice. Follow only the markings requested for your draw.
3. Obtain the prescribed claim form
Use the form tied to the draw, not a generic form downloaded from an unrelated lottery. The located form asks for the claimant’s personal and contact details, PAN, ticket and draw information, prize amount and bank details, including the IFSC. Fill the form exactly as the identity and bank records show it. A mismatch between the name on the ticket, the form and the bank account can create a verification problem.
Before signing, check the ticket number, draw date, prize amount, account number and IFSC character by character. Keep a complete copy of the signed form and every enclosure. If a field does not apply, follow the form’s instructions for marking it; do not leave a material field ambiguous.
4. Assemble identity, tax and bank documents
The located form lists copies of Aadhaar and PAN, a cancelled cheque and photographs. Aadhaar alone is not established as sufficient proof for every claim. Include PAN even if the prize appears small, because the form specifically requests it and tax treatment may apply.
The cancelled cheque should show the account holder and bank details clearly. Confirm that the account number and IFSC written on the claim form match the cheque. If the draw’s current instructions request another bank proof, use that instruction rather than substituting a document from an older form.

Photograph requirements vary in the available materials. One form says three photographs, two attested; another instruction PDF says four photographs. Count and attest them exactly as the applicable form requires. Keep spare copies only for your own records; do not send extra documents that could create conflicting information.

If the winner is a minor, the located form asks for an affidavit from the natural guardian or parent. The rules also address payment to a minor or guardian subject to proof of guardianship. Obtain the exact affidavit wording and supporting proof required by the draw instructions before filing. Do not assume that a parent can simply sign in the child’s place without the specified proof.
Use the minor’s details as the claimant’s details wherever the form asks for the winner, and identify the guardian in the separate guardian fields or affidavit. Confirm how the payment account must be titled under the scheme; the available material does not establish one universal account arrangement for every minor claim.
6. Check attestation, affidavit and ownership requirements
One instruction sheet calls for an attested ticket copy, four photographs and an ownership affidavit. The form located separately asks for photographs and a guardian affidavit in a minor’s case. These are scheme-specific requirements, not interchangeable suggestions. If an ownership affidavit is listed, state how and from whom the ticket was obtained only in the format the authority prescribes. Do not create a new declaration that changes the facts or adds unsupported claims.
Review every page for signatures, dates, witness or attestation blocks and annexures. A complete-looking packet can still be rejected if a required affidavit is missing or a copy is not attested in the required manner.

7. Confirm where and how to submit
Ask the Directorate or the authorised agent named in the current draw notice whether your prize must be submitted in person, through an agent or by another permitted channel. The available documents do not securely establish a current address or a submission method for every Punjab scheme, and post is not proven to be accepted in every case.
When you submit, obtain a dated receipt, inward number, acknowledgement or other proof that identifies the ticket and the documents delivered. If an agent receives the claim, record the agent’s name, authorisation details and contact information. Keep the original receipt with your copy of the claim packet. If the office keeps the original ticket, the receipt should describe that fact.

What is the last date to claim a Punjab State Lottery prize?
There is no safely stated universal deadline for every Punjab draw. A reproduction of the Punjab State Lottery Rules, 1998 says prizes should be claimed within 30 days of publication of the result in the Punjab Government Gazette and describes possible discretionary extensions, first by the Director and then by the State Government. The Punjab State Lotteries Rules, 2015 instead refer to the period specified in the scheme. They describe a Director’s extension of up to 90 days in the stated circumstances and a further State Government extension within the stated limit, with unclaimed or undistributed amounts becoming State property after the applicable period.
Some claim-form instructions also mention 30 days and say that a late claimant should attach reasons on an affidavit. Those statements do not convert 30 days into a deadline for every current scheme. The draw notification and the rules in force for that scheme control. Locate the Gazette publication date, read the claim period in the scheme notice and submit as soon as possible rather than waiting for an extension.

If you may already be late, contact the Directorate immediately, explain the dates accurately and ask what late-claim application and affidavit are required. An extension is discretionary in the cited rules; late payment is not guaranteed. Keep proof of the date on which you asked for instructions and of any submission you make.

How payment and deductions work
The 2015 rules provide for deduction of income tax at source where applicable. The amount withheld depends on the applicable tax law and the circumstances of the prize; the available instructions do not establish one tax rate or net payment for every winner. Wait for the authority’s calculation and retain the payment statement or tax certificate supplied with the claim.
A separate instruction sheet describes cheque or RTGS payment for winners in Punjab and demand draft or RTGS payment for winners outside Punjab, after applicable deductions. Treat that as an instruction for the draw covered by that sheet, not a promise that every scheme uses the same method. Bank charges may apply. The available sources do not establish a universal payment time, so do not rely on an agent’s informal estimate.
Small prizes, large prizes and the correct route
Claim routes can differ. A smaller prize may be handled through an authorised lottery agent, while a larger prize may be handled by the Directorate under the applicable scheme. The evidence reviewed does not establish one current prize threshold that applies to every draw. Use the scheme notification to determine the route instead of choosing an agent solely because the amount appears small.
An agent should be able to identify the authority under which it accepts claims and provide a receipt. For a Directorate claim, use the office and channel named in the current notice. Never surrender the original ticket to an intermediary who cannot document receipt and authority.
Lost, damaged or altered tickets

The available rules make the original ticket central to a claim, but they do not establish a general replacement process for a lost ticket. A photograph, scan or purchase receipt may help explain your situation, but it is not established as a substitute for the original. Contact the Directorate or the authorised channel named in the scheme notice immediately and ask whether that scheme has any verification procedure.
Torn, mutilated or tampered ticket
The 2015 rules state that a forged, torn, mutilated or tampered ticket will not be entertained. If the damage is accidental, do not attempt to repair, trim, recolour or rewrite it. Preserve every fragment, place them in a protective sleeve and ask for written instructions. The Director may seek verification where there is doubt, but that power is not a promise that a damaged ticket will be paid.
Common mistakes that delay or defeat a claim
- Using a result from an unrelated state lottery or treating a third-party result page as the official result.
- Sending a photocopy while retaining the original when the scheme requires the original ticket.
- Altering, signing or marking the ticket without an instruction to do so.
- Using an old claim form because its document list looks shorter.
- Typing a wrong ticket number, draw date, prize amount, account number or IFSC.
- Assuming Aadhaar alone is enough and omitting PAN or the cancelled cheque requested by the form.
- Submitting the wrong number of photographs or missing an attestation or affidavit.
- Assuming a 30-day period, extension or late-payment outcome applies without checking the scheme notice.
- Handing the ticket to an intermediary without a dated acknowledgement.
- Expecting a guaranteed payment date, tax amount or payment method that the current instructions do not state.
A practical submission checklist
- Write down the draw name, draw date, ticket number, series, prize category and published result.
- Locate the scheme notification and current claim form identified by the Punjab State Lotteries Directorate or the authorised channel named in the draw.
- Compare your ticket with the result and keep the ticket intact.
- Make a clear copy or scan for your records without replacing the original.
- Complete the form with your legal name, address, contact details, PAN, ticket and draw information, prize amount, account number and IFSC.
- Attach the identity, tax, bank, photograph, attestation and affidavit documents listed for that draw.
- For a minor, add the guardian or parent affidavit and proof required by the applicable instructions.
- Confirm whether an authorised agent or the Directorate must receive the claim and whether submission is in person or through another permitted channel.
- Submit before the scheme’s stated period and obtain dated proof of delivery.
- Keep copies of the full packet, receipt, correspondence and payment or tax records.
Where to get an answer when the documents conflict
Ask the Punjab State Lotteries Directorate to confirm the current form, deadline, prize-handling route, submission address, accepted delivery method, photograph count, attestation standard and payment method for your exact draw. Give the officer the draw name and date and the ticket details, but do not send the original ticket to an unverified email address or messaging account.
Because the available rules and forms differ by date and scheme, request the answer in writing when a deadline, damaged ticket, minor claimant, ownership question or late filing is involved. Follow the current scheme notification once the Directorate confirms it, and retain that confirmation with your claim records.
