How to Claim a Kerala Lottery Prize: Documents, Deadlines and Submission Routes

To claim a Kerala lottery prize, preserve the original winning ticket, verify the draw details, and follow the Directorate of Kerala State Lotteries checklist for your prize level, residence and submission route. The Directorate’s current claim instructions say tickets for prizes above ₹1 lakh should be presented within 30 days of the draw. A claim normally requires the original ticket, a completed claim form, a payee receipt, identity documents and proof of a bank account in the winner’s own name.

Do not rely on a generic checklist if you live outside Kerala or intend to use a bank. Those cases can require notarization, extra explanations, authorization letters and bank certificates. Confirm the applicable instructions with the Directorate before mailing anything, particularly if the 30-day period has expired.

What to do immediately after winning

  1. Protect the ticket. Keep the original ticket flat and dry. Do not laminate it, alter it, staple documents to it or write across the printed details. The rules require verification of genuineness before payment, so a photocopy or photograph is not a substitute for the original.
  2. Record the draw information. Write down the lottery name, draw number, draw date, ticket number and published prize amount. Check the number against the official result and retain a copy of the result for your own file.
  3. Sign and identify the ticket as instructed. The Directorate’s claim instructions for the described high-value claims direct the winner to enter the winner’s name, address and signature on the back of the original ticket. Use the exact format currently required; do not guess if the printed ticket or office instructions differ.
  4. Start the deadline calculation. The Directorate claim page says tickets for prizes above ₹1 lakh should be submitted within 30 days from the draw. Count from the draw date shown in the official result, not from the day you discovered the ticket. If the period has already passed, prepare an explanation but do not assume an extension will be granted.

Keep scans or photocopies of every document and note the date and method of delivery. Copies help you answer a query, but the original ticket must travel through the approved submission route.

Which prizes and rules does this checklist cover?

The Directorate’s detailed claim page returned in the official-source results gives instructions for prizes above ₹1 lakh and attaches a 30-day submission instruction to that category. It does not establish a universal threshold or one procedure for every Kerala lottery prize. Smaller prizes, retailer payments and other categories may follow different instructions.

Official rules material surfaced alongside the claim page contains provisions about claim authorities and delayed submissions, but the returned snippets conflict. They mention different periods, including 30, 45 and 60 days in one result and 90 or 180 days in another. Those snippets are not a reliable basis for claiming an entitlement to extra time. Check the current rule text and the ticket-specific instructions with the Directorate before relying on any late-claim provision.

Documents for a prize above ₹1 lakh

Prepare the following items when the Directorate’s high-value claim instructions apply. The attestation, notarization and delivery requirements can change with your residence and route, so treat this as a preparation list rather than a substitute for the current form.

Original winning ticket

Submit the original winning ticket. Enter the winner’s name, address and signature on the reverse as directed by the Directorate. Make a clear copy or scan before submission and keep it with your delivery record. Do not send only a printout of an online result or a ticket image.

Claim application form

Complete the Directorate’s claim application form, available through lottery offices, the Directorate or its official forms resource. The instructions call for two photographs of the claimant and specify an attestation. Use photographs and attestation in the form and manner required for your location; a form prepared for a Kerala resident may not satisfy an out-of-state claim.

Payee receipt

Complete the payee receipt with the winner’s signature on a revenue stamp, full address and telephone number. Check that the name and address match the identity and bank records you submit. A separate Directorate payee-receipt page was identified as last updated on 20 October 2023; confirm that the current form and wording have not changed before using it.

PAN and Aadhaar copies

Provide copies of both sides of the PAN card and both sides of the Aadhaar document requested in the instructions. Make the copies legible, with all numbers and names visible. If your current name or address differs among documents, ask the Directorate what supporting evidence it requires instead of silently submitting inconsistent records.

Bank passbook page

Include a copy of the passbook page for an account in the claimant’s own name. The page should show the account number, IFSC and branch. The Directorate’s described instructions do not accept Jan Dhan or zero-balance accounts for that claim route. Confirm that the account is active and that the account-holder name corresponds to the claimant before filing.

Extra requirements for claimants outside Kerala

The Directorate’s instructions distinguish Kerala residents from people claiming outside Kerala. For an out-of-state claimant, the instructions include notarized copies of documents and photographs. They also call for one of two types of supporting evidence, according to the applicable route: a letter explaining why the claimant came to Kerala and the circumstances in which the ticket was purchased, or a copy of a Kerala government identity document.

Do not choose between those alternatives by assumption. Ask the receiving office which route applies to your facts, whether each copy must be notarized, and whether the notary must be located in Kerala or in your home state. Send the version of the checklist the office confirms, because an otherwise complete resident file may be returned for missing out-of-state attestations.

Choose how to submit the claim

Route Who receives the ticket Additional items identified by the Directorate Attestation issue
Direct submission or post The Directorate or the lottery office identified in the current instructions Core claim form, original ticket, payee receipt, photographs, identity copies and bank-account proof Follow the resident or out-of-state attestation and notarization instructions
Bank submission A bank presents the ticket under the Directorate’s process Letter authorizing the bank to present the ticket, receiving-bank certificate and collecting-bank certificate Bank documents do not replace any required claimant notarization or attestation

The source instructions do not provide a dependable end-to-end processing-time comparison between the routes. Select the route you can document and track most reliably, and confirm the correct office or bank before handing over the original ticket.

Direct or postal submission

  1. Ask the Directorate or the relevant lottery office for the current destination, accepted delivery method and document sequence.
  2. Complete the claim form and payee receipt exactly as instructed.
  3. Assemble the original ticket, photographs, identity copies, passbook page and any resident-specific or out-of-state supporting documents.
  4. Make a complete copy set for your records.
  5. Use a trackable delivery method if post is permitted, and retain the receipt, tracking number and delivery confirmation.

Bank submission

The bank route adds three documents identified by the Directorate: a letter authorizing the bank to present the ticket, a receiving-bank certificate and a collecting-bank certificate. Both bank certificates are required even when the receiving and collecting bank are the same institution.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Ask the bank whether it handles Kerala lottery prize presentation and obtain its current internal checklist.
  2. Sign the authorization letter in the form the bank accepts.
  3. Provide the bank with the claim documents and original ticket only against a written acknowledgment.
  4. Confirm that the receiving-bank and collecting-bank certificates are both prepared and signed, including where the same bank performs both roles.
  5. Keep copies of the authorization, certificates, acknowledgment and every identity or account document.

How to assemble a submission that can be checked

Match names and account ownership

Use the same spelling of the claimant’s name on the ticket endorsement, claim form, payee receipt, PAN, Aadhaar and bank record wherever the forms permit. The passbook account must be in the claimant’s own name under the described instructions. If a name differs because of marriage, transliteration or a legal change, obtain written guidance on acceptable proof before submission.

Check signatures and photographs

Sign where the form, receipt and ticket instructions require a signature. Do not sign blank forms or leave the revenue-stamp signature field incomplete. Attach two recent photographs in the required locations and complete the specified attestation. Out-of-state files may require notarized photographs and copies rather than ordinary self-attestation.

Check copies and account details

Review both sides of PAN and Aadhaar copies, then verify every digit of the account number and IFSC on the passbook page. A cropped or blurred copy can delay verification. Keep the bank account open while the claim is being processed and notify the Directorate if the account details change.

Create a document log

  • Ticket number, lottery name and draw date
  • Date the claim deadline falls
  • Each original, copy, photograph and certificate included
  • Name of the office or bank receiving the file
  • Date sent or delivered, tracking number and acknowledgment
  • Names, dates and reference numbers for every follow-up conversation

What happens after submission?

The rules material says payment follows verification that the ticket is genuine. Keep the original ticket and submission acknowledgment available in case the Directorate or bank asks for clarification. The same material notes that tax and surcharge are deducted as required under applicable rules. The available official claim instructions do not provide a dependable processing-time estimate or a tax rate, so do not budget around a promised payment date or assume a particular percentage will be deducted.

If an office says a document is missing, ask for the request in writing and respond through the same route used for the claim. Do not send a replacement ticket, alter the original or switch banks without confirming how the change affects the file.

Late claims: what to do if 30 days have passed

For the Directorate page’s instructions covering prizes above ₹1 lakh, the stated period is 30 days from the draw. If that period has passed, the page asks for an explanation of the delay. Prepare a concise, dated explanation supported by any evidence you have, such as travel or medical records, but understand that an explanation is not an acceptance.

Because the surfaced official rules snippets describe different late-submission periods and different authorities with power to condone delay, contact the Directorate for the rule currently effective for your lottery and draw before mailing the ticket. Ask whether the claim must be addressed to a particular authority, whether a separate delay application is required and whether the ticket should be sent by post, presented personally or routed through a bank. Until the Directorate confirms the position, do not treat 30, 45, 60, 90 or 180 days as a guaranteed entitlement.

Common mistakes and how to avoid them

  • Sending a photocopy instead of the original: authenticity verification requires the original ticket.
  • Waiting for a convenient trip: the stated 30-day period is measured from the draw for the described high-value claims.
  • Using a personal checklist for an out-of-state claim: notarization and additional Kerala-related evidence may be required.
  • Submitting through a bank without all certificates: authorization, receiving-bank and collecting-bank certificates are additional requirements, and both certificates are needed even when one bank serves both roles.
  • Using an unsuitable account: the described instructions reject Jan Dhan and zero-balance accounts for that claim.
  • Assuming a late claim will be accepted: conflicting rule snippets make prior confirmation essential.
  • Relying on an old form: confirm the current form, receipt and contact details before signing; the separate payee-receipt page identified in the official results carries a 20 October 2023 update date.
  • Expecting a fixed payout date or tax amount: neither is established by the available official instructions.

Where to confirm the current procedure

The Directorate of Kerala State Lotteries is listed at Vikas Bhavan P.O., Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala 695033. The official contact numbers shown with the claim instructions are 0471-2305193, 0471-2305230 and 0471-2301741. Use the current Directorate prize-claim page, lottery offices or the official forms resource to confirm the destination, form versions, attestation rules and deadline for your ticket.

Before relying on a phone answer, note the official page or office name, the date of the conversation and the instructions given. Procedures, forms, contacts and rules can change; a current confirmation is especially important for out-of-state claims, bank submissions and any ticket presented after the stated period.
