Will it fit your wallet? Measure the pocket first, then compare the tracker’s listed thickness with the cards you already carry. A card tracker can have a payment-card footprint yet still make a slim wallet difficult to close when its pocket is tightly packed.
Will it work with your phone? Choose the finding network before comparing sound, battery claims, or app features. Chipolo CARD and Pebblebee Card 5 can each be paired with Apple Find My or Google Find Hub, but each card uses only one network at a time. “Works with iPhone and Android” does not mean simultaneous access to both networks.

Start with two checks: network and physical fit
A wallet tracker is useful only when it satisfies two constraints at once: your phone can locate it through a compatible network, and the card fits the wallet pocket without distorting the wallet or damaging neighboring cards. Treat those checks as prerequisites, not as details to compare after choosing a favorite feature.
Check the phone ecosystem
- For an iPhone, Apple Find My is the relevant network for a compatible tracker.
- For an Android phone, Google Find Hub is the relevant network for a compatible tracker.
- If a card supports both ecosystems, confirm which one you will select during setup. The cards covered here do not report through Apple Find My and Google Find Hub simultaneously.
This matters if a household uses both iPhone and Android. A card paired to one network will not automatically appear in the other person’s finding app. If the wallet owner may change phones, check whether the model can be reset and moved to the other network before buying.

Measure the pocket, not just the wallet exterior
Measure the inside length, width, and usable depth of the pocket where the tracker will sit. A pocket’s lining, stitching, rounded corners, and existing cards can make the practical fit tighter than the manufacturer’s dimensions suggest. Leave room for the wallet to close normally and for cards to slide out without catching on the tracker.

How to measure and test wallet fit
1. Empty the target pocket
Remove every card, receipt, and sleeve from the pocket you intend to use. Some wallets have a nominal card slot that is narrower at the opening or becomes shallower near the stitching. Measure the actual cavity rather than relying on the wallet’s advertised capacity.
Quick wins for a faster PC:

Use a ruler or caliper to measure usable length, usable width, and depth. Compare those measurements with the tracker’s listed footprint and thickness. A tracker around payment-card size may fit lengthwise but still rub against a stitched edge if the pocket is tapered.
3. Add the thickness of the cards you carry
Place your usual cards together and measure the stack. Add the tracker’s listed thickness to that stack, then test whether the wallet closes without bowing. A card slot that technically accepts the stack can still put pressure on magnetic stripes, chip contacts, seams, or snap closures.
4. Test access before committing
Insert the tracker in the pocket and remove the most frequently used card several times. If the tracker makes that card difficult to grip, move it to a less-used pocket or choose the thinner model. Do not force a card into a pocket; persistent pressure can stretch the wallet and make every card harder to retrieve.
5. Recheck after adding a case or sleeve
Protective sleeves, identification-card windows, and business-card inserts change the available depth. Test the final configuration, not an empty wallet, before discarding packaging or committing to a return policy.

Understand the charging and battery trade-off
Both cards are rechargeable and use wireless charging, but neither product page includes a charger. Confirm that the charging pad you already own places the card correctly on the charging coil; a pad that works for a phone may not align with a thin card-shaped device. If you do not own a compatible pad, include that accessory in the total cost of ownership.
Chipolo states up to one year per charge for CARD, while Pebblebee states up to 18 months for Card 5. “Up to” describes a manufacturer estimate under unspecified real-world usage conditions. Actual endurance can vary with temperature, Bluetooth activity, alert sounds, distance from phones participating in the network, and how often you locate the wallet. Do not treat the longer claim as a guaranteed saving or as an independently measured advantage.
Set a recurring calendar reminder several weeks before the expected recharge interval. A dead tracker cannot report its location, so battery maintenance is part of the device’s value. If you rarely use wireless charging, a card with a longer advertised interval may be more convenient, but only if it fits and supports your chosen network.
Interpret water-resistance ratings cautiously
Chipolo lists CARD as IP67 and describes a limited fresh-water immersion capability. That is a protection rating, not an instruction to wash the wallet or carry the tracker while swimming. Water pressure, salt water, detergents, and repeated exposure can exceed the conditions behind an IP test.

Pebblebee’s Card 5 support information is internally inconsistent: its specification list says IP68, while explanatory text says IP66 and warns against submersion. Because those statements cannot be treated as one definitive rating, verify the current box and support page for the exact Card 5 revision you are purchasing. Until the discrepancy is resolved for your unit, keep the card out of water and treat the warning as the safer operating instruction.
Know what “range” and a finding network actually mean
Chipolo lists Bluetooth range up to 120 metres (400 feet) in ideal line-of-sight conditions. Pebblebee lists up to 500 feet under ideal conditions. Walls, floors, vehicles, radio interference, the wallet’s location, and the phone’s Bluetooth behavior can reduce direct range substantially. These numbers describe a best-case connection, not a guaranteed recovery radius.
When the tracker is outside direct Bluetooth range, a finding network can update its location when compatible devices encounter it. That process depends on nearby devices, their settings, network participation, and the environment. No comparative recovery rate for Apple Find My versus Google Find Hub has been established for a particular city, building, or travel route. Choose the network with the strongest practical presence among the people and places where you normally carry the wallet, but treat network recovery as assistance rather than insurance.

Neither the listed current cards provides ultra-wideband (UWB) precision finding. You should expect a map location and a sound when the card is within Bluetooth reach, not a phone-guided directional arrow that points to the exact cushion or coat pocket.
Which model fits which situation?
Chipolo CARD
Chipolo describes CARD as a rechargeable card that can be assigned to Apple Find My or Google Find Hub. For Apple Find My, the product information specifies iOS 14.5 or later. For Google Find Hub, it specifies Android 9 or later with Google Play Services. Some features may depend on location and age requirements in the relevant network.
Its listed sound output is around 110 dB, which can help when the wallet is nearby, although walls, upholstery, and a closed bag still muffle sound. Select this model when the listed dimensions fit your pocket, your phone meets the stated operating-system requirements, and you value the companion-app functions described for the card.
Pebblebee Card 5
Card 5 is also assignable to either Apple Find My or Google Find Hub, but not both at once. Its listed thickness is lower than Chipolo CARD’s, which may help in a tightly packed wallet. That advantage exists only if the pocket accepts its slightly different width and the final stack remains comfortable.
Before buying, resolve the water-documentation conflict for the exact unit and confirm the wireless charger arrangement. Choose it when the thinner listed profile and the selected network matter more than relying on an unverified interpretation of the water rating.

CARD Spot is a different product from the multi-network CARD. It is Apple Find My-only, so it is not the right choice for an Android owner who relies on Google Find Hub. Chipolo lists it at 2.4 mm thick, with up to two years of battery life, up to 60 metres (200 feet) of Bluetooth range for playing a sound, and IPX5 splash resistance. Those are manufacturer claims, and current availability should be confirmed before purchase.
Its Apple-only design may be appropriate when every intended user is on Apple’s network and the listed splash protection suits the wallet’s environment. It should not be selected merely because its advertised battery interval is longer.

Older Pebblebee Card generations
Do not assume that every product labeled Pebblebee Card works like Card 5. The company’s guide distinguishes Apple-only Gen 1 and Gen 2 cards, a Google Find Hub Gen 3, and a Universal Gen 4 that lets the owner select Apple or Google. Check the generation printed on the packaging or device before purchase, especially when buying older stock or a second-hand card. The guide states that these Card models do not have UWB.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Set up the tracker without locking yourself into the wrong network
- Confirm the exact model and generation. Match the model name on the box with the manufacturer’s current support information. Do not rely on a retailer’s generic “iPhone and Android” label.
- Update the phone. Meet the operating-system and service requirements stated for the selected network. For Chipolo CARD, that means iOS 14.5 or later for Apple Find My or Android 9 or later with Google Play Services for Google Find Hub.
- Charge the card. Use a compatible wireless charger and keep the card centered until charging completes. Remember that the charger is not included with either current card.
- Choose one network. In the relevant Apple Find My or Google Find Hub app, use the option to add an accessory and follow the on-screen pairing instructions. The card will be associated with that network, not both at once.
- Test nearby locating. Trigger the app’s sound function while the card is a few metres away. Confirm that the sound is audible in the wallet and that the map shows the expected device.
- Record ownership details. Save the model, generation, and the account used for pairing. This prevents confusion if another household member later tries to add the card to a different network.
- Install it in the measured pocket. Repeat the wallet-close and card-removal test with the tracker charged and paired.
Privacy and responsible use
A wallet tracker is for locating an item, not monitoring a person. Chipolo describes unknown-tracker alerts for CARD Spot on Apple’s Find My network. Google provides Android guidance for detecting unknown trackers. These safeguards can help people investigate an unfamiliar tracker traveling with them, but they do not make every product’s alerts identical or guarantee that unwanted tracking will be prevented.
Tell household members when a tracker is placed in a shared bag or wallet, and do not hide one in someone else’s belongings. If an unknown-tracker alert appears, follow the instructions in the phone’s operating system and contact local authorities or a trusted safety organization if you feel threatened.
Budget for ownership, not just the card
The purchase decision includes more than the tracker’s shelf price. Neither Chipolo CARD nor Pebblebee Card 5 includes a charger, so account for a compatible charging pad if you do not already have one. Also consider the cost of replacing a card that is uncomfortable enough to make you stop carrying the tracker, and the inconvenience of moving the device to a new phone or network later.
Prices, stock, retailer terms, and any recycling or replacement program can change. Verify those details for the exact model and generation at the time of purchase rather than relying on an old listing. A lower-priced older card can be a poor value if it supports only the wrong network or has documentation that no longer matches the current app.
Troubleshoot the most common failures
The card will not pair
- Confirm that the phone meets the required operating system and service version.
- Check that the card is charged and within Bluetooth range during setup.
- Make sure it is not already registered to another account or network. A card assigned to Apple Find My cannot simultaneously be added to Google Find Hub.
- Verify the model generation, particularly for older Pebblebee cards.
The wallet is too tight
- Remove a rarely used card or a decorative sleeve before blaming the tracker.
- Move the tracker to a pocket with less stitching pressure.
- Choose the thinner listed model if the measured stack still bows the wallet.
- Do not force the pocket closed; permanent stretching can make every card harder to access.
The map shows an old location
- Move near the last reported location and try the sound function.
- Remember that a crowdsourced network updates only when compatible devices encounter the tracker.
- Check battery status and recharge if the card has reached its expected interval.
- Do not interpret an old map pin as proof that the wallet remains at that exact spot.
The card got wet
- Remove it from the wallet and follow the model’s current care instructions.
- Do not assume an IP rating makes it safe for salt water, detergent, high-pressure spray, or repeated submersion.
- For Pebblebee Card 5, consult the exact current documentation because the published water statements conflict.
A practical decision rule
Choose the card that passes this sequence: your phone and account can use its selected network; the measured pocket accepts the card and your normal stack; the charging method is convenient; the manufacturer’s battery estimate suits your maintenance habits; and the documented water protection matches how the wallet is used. If any of those tests fails, a louder sound or longer advertised battery life does not fix the underlying mismatch.
