To check whether your Digital Life Certificate (DLC) was accepted or rejected, sign in to the official Jeevan Pramaan portal and download the certificate PDF. The downloaded DLC is the official status-check route. A Pramaan ID, acknowledgement SMS or successful biometric submission proves that a certificate was generated—not that EPFO or another pension authority has approved it.
What “accepted” means for a Jeevan Pramaan certificate
Jeevan Pramaan is an Aadhaar-based, biometric-enabled Digital Life Certificate service. When a DLC is generated, it receives a unique Pramaan ID and is made electronically available to the pension disbursing agency. That normally removes the need to submit a paper certificate in person.

Generation and approval are separate events. The Jeevan Pramaan FAQ says a generated DLC remains subject to approval by the pension sanctioning or disbursing authority. Therefore, these messages should not be treated as interchangeable:

What you need before checking
Gather the Pramaan ID printed on your acknowledgement SMS or certificate. If you do not have the ID, the pensioner sign-in flow also allows authentication with an Aadhaar number. You should have access to the mobile number used for the record because the portal uses an OTP during pensioner authentication.
- Your Pramaan ID, if available.
- Your Aadhaar number if you are using that sign-in option.
- The associated mobile phone for OTP delivery.
- A private place to save the downloaded PDF.
- Your PPO number and issued-office details only if your question is actually about pension payment status.
You do not need to buy a printer, biometric scanner or special manual to check acceptance. A biometric scanner may be relevant when generating some certificates, but it is not required for downloading and inspecting an existing DLC. A smartphone can be useful for receiving the OTP, but no new device is required solely for this status check.
How to download the DLC and read its status
Have the Pramaan ID ready. It appears on the acknowledgement SMS and on the certificate generated through Jeevan Pramaan. The pensioner sign-in flow also permits authentication with an Aadhaar number.

- Open the official portal. Go to https://jeevanpramaan.gov.in and select the pensioner sign-in or download route. Do not use an agency login when you are trying to view your own certificate.
- Choose the pensioner authentication option. The portal distinguishes pensioner access from agency access. Pensioners use their Pramaan ID or Aadhaar number to begin the sign-in process.
- Request and enter the OTP. Generate the one-time password shown by the portal and enter it using the mobile number associated with the record. Complete any other verification the live page requests.
- Retrieve the PDF DLC. After authentication, use the download function to obtain the certificate. Save the original PDF rather than relying only on a screenshot of the acknowledgement SMS.
- Inspect the certificate status. Read the status displayed in the downloaded DLC. This is the official Jeevan Pramaan method for finding out whether the certificate is accepted or rejected.
- Keep the identification details. Retain the Pramaan ID, download date and PDF. They are useful if the record has to be checked with the pension disbursing agency.
The portal and its labels can change. Follow the current pensioner sign-in and download wording shown on the live page, but keep the distinction between pensioner access and agency access.
If the PDF is difficult to retrieve
First confirm that you are on the pensioner sign-in route, not an agency route. Enter the Pramaan ID exactly as shown, without changing digits or substituting a PPO number. If you chose Aadhaar authentication, use the Aadhaar option offered by the live page rather than entering the Aadhaar number into an EPFO pension-status form.
Check that the OTP is being sent to the mobile number associated with the certificate and enter the current OTP requested by the portal. Avoid sharing that OTP with another person. If the page displays different labels from those described here, follow the current portal instructions while still looking for the download function. Keep any downloaded PDF and the ID together so you can explain the issue to the Pension Disbursing Agency if necessary.

Use EPFO’s Jeevan Pramaan Enquiry as a second check
EPFO’s Pensioners’ Portal provides a separate form labelled “Jeevan Pramaan Enquiry.” It asks for the “Jeevan Pramaan ID (As per DLC)”, also described as the JP Transaction ID, and provides a beneficiary-details result area.

- Open the EPFO Pensioners’ Portal.
- Select Jeevan Pramaan Enquiry, not the pension-status form.
- Enter the Jeevan Pramaan ID exactly as it appears on the downloaded DLC.
- Submit the enquiry and review the beneficiary details returned by the page.
This enquiry is a useful EPFO route for locating the DLC record. The form itself does not define every result as a formal approval decision, so use the downloaded certificate for the portal’s stated accepted-or-rejected check and contact the responsible authority if the result is unclear.
Do not use the wrong EPFO form
EPFO exposes another form called “Know Your Pension Status.” It asks for an issued office, office ID and PPO number. That is a pension-status or payment-related enquiry, not a search for the Digital Life Certificate itself.

A successful DLC enquiry does not by itself answer why a monthly pension has not arrived. Conversely, a payment-status result does not replace the certificate’s accepted-or-rejected status.
What an acknowledgement SMS and Pramaan ID really tell you
The acknowledgement SMS quotes the generated Pramaan ID. That number lets you identify the DLC and use the pensioner download flow or EPFO’s Jeevan Pramaan Enquiry. It is not an approval notice.
The FAQ separately states that the generated DLC is subject to approval by the pension sanctioning or disbursing authority. Read the SMS as confirmation of generation, then download the certificate to check the status. If the SMS says the Jeevan Pramaan was rejected, follow the rejection steps rather than creating a second certificate immediately with the same details.

If the DLC says rejected
A rejection means the pension authority did not accept that certificate record. The Jeevan Pramaan FAQ identifies incorrect particulars as one reason for rejection and gives a specific remedy.
1. Contact the Pension Disbursing Agency
Contact the Pension Disbursing Agency responsible for the pension. It can explain which pension record or verification failed and whether any additional correction is required. The agency—not the acknowledgement SMS—is the authority to clarify the pension-specific rejection.
2. Check every particular used during generation
Compare the information supplied when the DLC was generated with the pension records. Pay particular attention to pension identifiers and other particulars entered into the form. An incorrect detail can cause the authority to reject an otherwise completed biometric transaction.

The FAQ recommends creating a new Jeevan Pramaan certificate with the correct information and biometrics when the original particulars were wrong. A new Pramaan ID identifies the corrected submission. Keep the rejected ID as part of your correspondence so the agency can distinguish the records.
4. Download the replacement and verify it
After the corrected DLC is generated, use the pensioner sign-in flow to download it and inspect its status again. Generation of the replacement still does not eliminate the authority-approval step.
5. Separate a certificate problem from a payment problem
If the DLC is accepted but the pension has not been credited, use the PPO-based pension-status enquiry and the agency’s payment-support channel. Do not keep generating life certificates to solve a payment issue that is unrelated to certificate acceptance.

How acceptance can be recorded in the EPFO workflow
Jeevan Pramaan’s general process makes the certificate electronically available to the pension disbursing agency, but approval remains an authority decision. An EPFO-indexed 2025–26 announcement about a free India Post Payments Bank doorstep DLC service uses the term “Successful DLC” for a narrower service context: the certificate was completed by that service, was due or due within 30 days, and was approved at EPFO automatically or manually after verification of pensioner details.

That announcement describes the criteria for the doorstep service; it should not be read as a universal definition for every Jeevan Pramaan submission or every pension authority. The IPPB doorstep service is described as free to the pensioner in that announcement, but that does not turn every certificate-generation or assistance channel into a paid or free service. For an ordinary DLC, rely on the downloaded certificate and the responsible pension disbursing agency when the status is ambiguous.

Frequent mistakes that can delay a clear answer
- Stopping at the SMS: the message supplies the generated ID, not the authority’s decision.
- Entering a PPO number in the DLC enquiry: the Jeevan Pramaan form expects the Pramaan ID shown on the DLC.
- Using the payment form for certificate status: the PPO-based form answers a different question.
- Repeating an incorrect submission: create a replacement only after checking and correcting the particulars.
- Discarding the rejected ID: keep it so the agency can distinguish the original record from the replacement.
- Assuming acceptance equals payment: an accepted certificate does not itself prove that a pension credit has reached the bank.
- Sharing sensitive details publicly: Aadhaar, OTPs, Pramaan IDs and certificate PDFs should be given only to the relevant official channel.

- The Pramaan ID exactly as printed on the DLC or acknowledgement SMS.
- The downloaded DLC PDF and the date on which it was retrieved.
- The PPO number and issued-office details if the issue is pension payment rather than certificate acceptance.
- The wording of any rejection SMS and the date it arrived.
- A clear description of whether you need certificate status, record lookup or payment status.
Providing the correct identifier prevents a common mix-up: a Pramaan ID searches for the Digital Life Certificate, while a PPO number and office details are used for pension-status enquiries.
Privacy and account-safety precautions
- Use the official Jeevan Pramaan domain, https://jeevanpramaan.gov.in, for the pensioner download process.
- Do not publish your Aadhaar number, OTP, Pramaan ID or downloaded certificate in a public forum.
- Check the domain before entering an OTP. An unsolicited message asking you to forward an OTP is not required for the normal pensioner download process.
- Store the PDF in a private location and provide it only to the pension office or agency handling your pension query.
When to escalate the issue
Escalate to the Pension Disbursing Agency when the downloaded DLC is rejected, when the agency’s record conflicts with the certificate, or when you need to know which pension detail was incorrect. Escalate a separate payment question through the PPO-based pension-status route. Keep both the original and any corrected Pramaan IDs so the agency can trace the sequence without confusing a rejected submission with its replacement.
The practical sequence is therefore: generate or locate the Pramaan ID, download the PDF through pensioner sign-in, read the certificate status, use EPFO’s Jeevan Pramaan Enquiry when you need an EPFO record lookup, and use the PPO-based form only for pension-status questions. This preserves the distinction between a generated certificate, an authority-approved certificate and an actual pension payment.
