How to Check AU Small Finance Bank FD Rates, Maturity Dates and Renewal Options

Check the current AU Small Finance Bank fixed-deposit rate table immediately before you book or renew. For retail deposits below ₹3 crore, the table effective 1 September 2026 shows a highest regular rate of 7.40% per year and a highest eligible resident-senior-citizen rate of 7.90% per year for the 30-month-1-day to 36-month tenure band. To find an existing deposit’s maturity date, use its FD advice or account view in AU 0101, ask through AU video banking, or visit a branch. Unless you submit different instructions before maturity, AU says it renews the deposit for the same period at the prevailing rate.

Check the applicable AU FD rate before you act

AU Small Finance Bank’s published rate is not permanently attached to a product. The bank states that the applicable rate is the rate in force when it receives the funds. A screenshot, old email or comparison page therefore cannot establish the rate you will actually receive for a new booking or renewal.

For a retail deposit, first identify the deposit category, amount band, customer status, tenure and payout choice. AU publishes separate tables for domestic, NRE and NRO deposits and distinguishes resident senior citizens from other customers. The quoted maximums below are from the table effective 1 September 2026 and apply to retail deposits below ₹3 crore:

Customer category Tenure band Maximum rate shown Qualification
Regular retail depositor 30 months 1 day to 36 months 7.40% p.a. AU Small Finance Bank table effective 1 September 2026; deposit below ₹3 crore
Eligible resident senior citizen 30 months 1 day to 36 months 7.90% p.a. AU Small Finance Bank table effective 1 September 2026; deposit below ₹3 crore

These are maximums within the stated band, not a promise that every tenure or payout option receives the same rate. Other amount bands, customer categories and tenures can have different rates. The bank can change rates, so check the live table on the day your money is received or the renewal is processed.

What you need before opening the rate table

  • Whether the deposit is domestic, NRE or NRO.
  • The principal amount and whether it is below ₹3 crore.
  • Whether the depositor qualifies for the resident-senior-citizen rate.
  • The exact tenure, including days where the product allows a mixed month-and-day period.
  • Whether interest will be paid monthly, quarterly or at maturity (cumulative).

AU’s regular-FD information lists a minimum investment of ₹1,000 and available tenures from 7 days to 10 years. The rate table, rather than the minimum or maximum tenure alone, determines the rate for your selected period.

Step-by-step: how to check the current rate

  1. Open AU’s official “Check Current FD Interest Rates” page. Use the bank’s own table, not an archived article.
  2. Select the correct deposit table. Choose domestic, NRE or NRO according to the account you are opening or renewing.
  3. Choose the amount band. Confirm whether your principal is below ₹3 crore and select any higher band that applies to your deposit.
  4. Check customer status. Select the resident-senior-citizen row only if the depositor meets AU’s eligibility rules.
  5. Locate the exact tenure. Do not assume a nearby period has the same rate; the 30-month-1-day to 36-month band is a specific range.
  6. Check the payout column. Monthly, quarterly and cumulative options may be displayed separately or have different effective yields.
  7. Read the terms beneath the table. Confirm the effective date and the statement that the rate is the one applicable when AU receives funds.
  8. Save evidence for your records. Record the date and time you checked, the selected row, principal, tenure and payout mode. Keep the final FD advice because the booking confirmation controls your contract.

If you are renewing an existing FD, repeat this process immediately before the due date. The renewal rate can be different from the original contracted rate even when you choose the same tenure.

How to find your AU FD maturity date

The contractual maturity date is based on the booking date and the tenure that appears on your FD advice. Do not calculate it from the date you happen to view the account or from the date interest was last paid.

Use AU 0101

  1. Sign in to AU 0101 through the bank’s approved channel.
  2. Open the deposits, fixed deposits or account-details area and select the relevant FD.
  3. Read the booking date, principal, tenure, maturity date, maturity value and maturity instruction shown in the advice or account view.
  4. Download or securely store the advice so you can compare it with any renewal confirmation.

Menu names can vary by app or web version. If the deposit is not visible, do not create a second FD or rely on an estimated date; use video banking or a branch to have the account located.

Ask through video banking or at a branch

AU says existing FD information and service requests can also be handled through AU video banking or an AU branch. Provide the deposit number or linked account details and ask the representative to confirm:

  • booking date and contractual tenure;
  • maturity date and maturity amount;
  • interest payout mode;
  • the instruction currently recorded for maturity; and
  • any lien, hold or other restriction on the deposit.

Write down the representative’s confirmation and the date of the request. A maturity instruction submitted through an accepted channel should be confirmed before the due date, not on the assumption that a message has been received.

Why calendar arithmetic can be misleading

AU states that it computes interest using the actual number of months and days in a year. A year containing 366 days is used when applicable, while a non-leap year uses 365 days when a deposit spans both years. A deposit with a tenure expressed in months and days therefore should be checked against the bank’s contractual date rather than a simple “number of days multiplied by 365” calculation.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For example, if an advice records a 30-month-1-day tenure, add that exact contractual period to the booking date and then verify the result in AU 0101 or with the bank. A leap day can affect an interest calculation even when the displayed maturity date appears straightforward.

Estimate the maturity amount without confusing it with the contract

AU’s online calculator is useful for a quick estimate, but it excludes tax deducted at source (TDS). The amount credited to you can therefore differ from the calculator’s result. The FD advice and AU’s confirmation are the authoritative records for the contractual maturity value.

Compound-interest estimate

For a cumulative deposit, AU’s regular-FD page gives the estimation formula:

A = P (1+r/n)^(n*t)

  • A is the estimated maturity amount.
  • P is the principal.
  • r is the annual interest rate expressed as a decimal.
  • n is the number of compounding periods per year.
  • t is the time in years.

This formula is an estimate because AU’s stated actual-month-and-day method, payout selection, rounding and tax treatment can change the final result. Enter the exact principal, rate and tenure in the bank’s calculator, then compare the output with the FD advice once the deposit is booked.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Choose the right payout mode

Mode When interest is paid Useful when Trade-off
Cumulative At maturity You want the deposit to compound and do not need periodic cash flow No regular interest payment; TDS can still affect cash received
Monthly At monthly intervals under the selected product terms You need a regular income stream Less money remains invested for compounding than with a cumulative deposit
Quarterly At quarterly intervals under the selected product terms You want periodic income but less frequent credits Periodic payments may reduce the amount available at maturity

Confirm the selected mode on the advice. A calculator result for cumulative interest should not be compared directly with a monthly- or quarterly-payout deposit.

What happens when an AU FD matures?

AU’s official FAQ states: "In case there are no maturity instructions specified or the Bank does not receive any other instructions prior to maturity, Bank will automatically renew the deposit for the same period at the prevailing rates of interest on maturity."

In practical terms, failing to act can create a new deposit for the same tenure, but at the rate available on that maturity date. The renewal rate may be higher or lower than the original rate. It is not the rate printed on your old advice unless that rate happens to be prevailing when the renewal is processed.

How a lien changes the result

AU’s FAQ says a lien on the FD causes renewal regardless of maturity instructions. A lien may be connected with a loan, guarantee or another obligation. If you see a lien or hold, ask AU to explain the release conditions well before maturity. Submitting an instruction to withdraw does not override a bank-imposed lien.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Possible maturity instructions

The available instruction depends on the deposit and AU’s current process, but the usual choices are to renew for the same tenure or withdraw the maturity amount to the linked account. Confirm with AU which instruction is recorded for your specific FD and whether principal, interest or both are being renewed.

How to submit or verify a renewal instruction

  1. Review the due date. Use the FD advice or AU 0101, allowing enough time for the bank’s processing window.
  2. Check the live rate table. Select the same deposit category, amount band, customer status, tenure and payout mode you would receive on renewal.
  3. Decide what to do with principal and interest. If you need cash, specify withdrawal; if you want continued investment, specify the renewal treatment available for your deposit.
  4. Submit through an accepted AU channel. Use AU 0101 where the option is available, request help through video banking, or visit a branch.
  5. Obtain confirmation. Keep the request reference, date, selected tenure, rate quoted and destination account.
  6. Check the post-maturity advice. Confirm that the new principal, maturity date, payout mode and rate match your instruction. Escalate promptly if the FD renewed unexpectedly or with an incorrect instruction.

AU states that the tenure selected for an FD cannot be changed after the account is opened. If you want a different tenure, the bank’s stated route is to close the existing FD and open a new one. That can trigger premature-closure consequences, so choose the next tenure before approving a rollover.

Should you renew or withdraw the AU FD?

There is no universal best choice. Make the decision using the new rate, your cash timetable, tax position and the cost of getting out early.

Compare the new rate with the rate you already have

Place the original contracted rate and the proposed prevailing renewal rate side by side. A higher headline rate does not automatically produce a better outcome if the new tenure is longer, the payout mode changes or you need the money soon. Conversely, a modestly lower rate may be acceptable if the deposit’s certainty and term still fit your plan.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Match tenure to the next known expense

List expenses expected before the proposed maturity: tuition, a property payment, medical costs, an emergency reserve or a tax bill. Do not lock money for the same period merely because AU’s default is same-tenure renewal. If your cash need is uncertain, consider renewing only part of the funds and keeping the rest liquid.

Choose growth or income deliberately

  • Select cumulative treatment when the objective is to maximize the amount available at maturity and you can fund current expenses elsewhere.
  • Select monthly or quarterly interest when predictable cash flow matters more than maximum compounding.
  • Check where periodic interest will be credited and whether that account is convenient for spending or reinvestment.

Account for tax and TDS

AU’s calculator does not include TDS. The bank’s FAQ also says TDS can be recovered from principal if the interest available is insufficient. Before renewal, estimate the after-tax return under your own tax circumstances rather than comparing only the advertised annual rate. Keep interest certificates and account statements for your tax records.

Consider laddering instead of one rollover

If one large FD would leave you locked in, split the money across deposits with different maturity dates or tenures, subject to AU’s product rules and any applicable rate bands. A ladder can provide staggered access to cash while leaving the remainder invested. It does not remove premature-closure penalties on an individual deposit, so retain a separate emergency reserve.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Support on Ko-Fi

Premature closure: costs to check before renewing

Renewing without reviewing liquidity can be expensive because changing the tenure later may require closing and reopening the FD. AU’s current term-deposit FAQ lists a 1% premature-withdrawal penalty rate. The applicable interest after closure can therefore be lower than the rate shown when you opened the deposit.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Domestic FD: AU’s rate terms state that a withdrawal within seven days earns no interest.
  • NRE FD: AU states that liquidation before one year earns no interest.
  • Other cases: Ask AU to quote the exact amount payable for your deposit, including the penalty calculation and any tax effect, before authorizing closure.

Request a written or on-screen closure quotation that identifies the principal returned, interest allowed, penalty, TDS and net proceeds. This is more reliable than applying the 1% figure to the principal yourself, because the bank’s calculation depends on the deposit type and elapsed period.

Common problems and practical fixes

The rate in a comparison article differs from AU’s quote

Use the effective date on AU’s live table and the rate applicable when funds are received. Ask the bank to explain any difference caused by amount band, senior-citizen eligibility, payout mode or a change between application and funding.

The FD is missing from AU 0101

Check that you are using the customer profile linked to the deposit. If it remains missing, contact AU video banking or a branch with the FD number, booking date and linked account. Do not assume the deposit matured or renewed merely because it is not displayed.

The displayed maturity date conflicts with your calculation

Compare the advice’s booking date and exact tenure first. Then ask AU to confirm how actual months and days, leap years and any payout convention were applied. Use the bank’s contractual confirmation rather than changing your own records based on a calendar estimate.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The FD renewed even though you intended to withdraw

Ask AU for the recorded maturity instruction, the date it was received and whether a lien existed. If no instruction was recorded before maturity, the automatic same-period renewal described in AU’s FAQ may have applied. Request the current closure value and penalty before deciding whether to break the renewed FD.

You want a different tenure after booking

AU says the selected tenure cannot be changed once the account is opened. Compare the cost of premature closure and a new booking with leaving the existing FD intact until maturity.

A recordkeeping checklist

Keep one folder, digital or paper, for each deposit. Record the following at booking and again at renewal:

  • FD number and linked savings account;
  • booking date and exact tenure;
  • principal and amount band;
  • deposit type (domestic, NRE or NRO);
  • senior-citizen eligibility, if used;
  • annual rate and the table’s effective date;
  • monthly, quarterly or cumulative payout mode;
  • maturity date and projected maturity value;
  • maturity instruction and the date AU received it;
  • any lien, hold or loan linkage; and
  • TDS certificates, interest statements and closure quotations.

Set a calendar reminder several weeks before maturity. Use that time to check the current table, decide how much liquidity you need and obtain confirmation that AU has recorded your instruction.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A simple decision example

Suppose a cumulative retail FD below ₹3 crore reaches maturity in 2026. You first check the 1 September 2026 table and find the applicable row for your customer status and chosen tenure. You then compare the new rate with the original rate, list expenses due before the next maturity and estimate the after-tax amount. If you need only part of the money, ask whether separate deposits or a partial reinvestment arrangement is available instead of allowing the entire balance to renew automatically. If the deposit is under a lien, resolve that restriction before relying on any withdrawal instruction.

The point of the example is process: the maturity date comes from the advice, the renewal rate comes from the current table, and the final choice comes from your cash need and tax-adjusted return. None of those three decisions should be inferred from an old screenshot or a calculator alone.
