To pursue the Naruto card, apply as a new applicant through the official Rakuten American Express Card application. Complete the identity, address, income, housing, contact and Social Security information requested, finish verification, and accept the offer if you are approved. Any Naruto artwork is tied to that new-cardholder offer rather than to an existing-account redesign request.
The application materials say an accepted applicant can use a virtual card after approval, with the physical card mailed separately. The limited design is available only while the reserved supply lasts, so an eligible application is not the same thing as a guaranteed Naruto card.

What the Naruto Rakuten card offer is
Rakuten announced the limited NARUTO SHIPPUDEN card design on October 15, 2026. The artwork features Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha. It is not a general-purpose design choice offered to every Rakuten American Express Card customer: Rakuten says the design is reserved for the first 10,000 new cardholders who accept their offer, while supplies last.

Applying alone does not reserve artwork, and the announcement does not describe a separate screen where an applicant chooses Naruto instead of a standard design.

The practical route is therefore to apply promptly through the official application, respond to any verification request, and accept an approval offer if it arrives. Because the allocation is limited, waiting can change whether Naruto inventory remains even if you otherwise meet the application requirements.
Eligibility and information to prepare
The issuer’s application guidance lists basic eligibility requirements and the information used to complete the form. Have the following ready before opening the application:
- Age: You must be at least 18.
- Residential address: You need a physical U.S. home address. A P.O. box does not satisfy the stated address requirement.
- Social Security number: A valid SSN is required. The form may ask for the last four digits or the full SSN, depending on the prompt you receive.
- Personal phone: You must be able to complete phone-based two-factor authentication and identity-verification steps.
- Identity details: Enter your full legal name and birth date exactly as requested.
- Financial and housing details: The form requests income and housing information.
- Email address: Supply an email address you can monitor during the application.
Use your current legal and residential information rather than an abbreviated name, mailing-only address or number that cannot receive the required verification. The published requirements do not state that a particular income level, housing status or employment type guarantees approval; those fields are simply part of the requested application information.

How to apply, step by step
- Open the official application page. Go to https://apply.imprint.co/rakuten/credit, the application route linked from the issuer’s help material.
- Select “Apply Now.” Use the on-page button to begin a new application. The Naruto offer is for new cardholders, so do not treat an existing-account servicing page as a substitute for this route.
- Complete the form. Provide your full legal name, birthday, physical U.S. home address, income, housing information, phone number, SSN details as requested and email address. Check spelling and numbers before moving on; an address or identity mismatch can make verification more difficult.
- Submit and complete verification. After submission, follow every identity-verification and two-factor-authentication prompt. Eligibility requires a valid SSN, a personal phone and the ability to complete the authentication process.
- Review an approval offer. If the application is approved, read the offer presented to you. The Naruto allocation is connected to accepting the offer, not merely reaching an application decision.
- Accept if you want to proceed. Accepting activates the next stage described by the issuer: the virtual card becomes available for use after approval and acceptance, and a physical card is sent by mail.
Keep a record of the date you submitted and the date you accepted, along with any confirmation shown on screen. Those details can help you distinguish an incomplete application from an accepted account if you need to review what happened later. Do not submit multiple applications simply to try to improve your chance of receiving artwork; the published materials do not say that duplicate submissions create an additional design entitlement.
How the Naruto design is allocated
It is a first-10,000 new-cardholder allocation
Rakuten’s announcement says: “The limited edition design option is available while supplies last to the first 10,000 new cardholders who accept their offer for the Rakuten American Express® Card.” The count is based on new cardholders who accept, rather than on every person who starts an application. “While supplies last” also means the physical design inventory can end before a later applicant reaches the front of the normal application process.

There is no stated design-selection screen
The announcement does not describe a separate Naruto-versus-standard design selector after approval. Follow the new-card application and offer-acceptance flow as presented. If the materials you see do not display an artwork choice, that is consistent with the published description of the promotion; do not assume that leaving a field blank or contacting a different card service will create one.
New applicants only
The offer is limited to new cardholders. An existing Rakuten American Express Card account cannot currently be converted to the Naruto design through the normal account tools. If you already hold the card, the relevant path is the issuer’s waitlist for a possible future switching option, not a second application made solely to obtain artwork.

When you can use the card and when the physical card arrives
After approval and acceptance, the issuer says the virtual card is available for immediate use. This is the earliest stated way to access the account; you do not have to wait for the envelope to arrive before using the virtual card where it is accepted.
The physical card is mailed separately and should arrive within 7–10 business days, according to the application guidance. That is a delivery estimate for the mailed card, not a promise that every applicant will receive a Naruto design. The artwork remains subject to the limited allocation and remaining supplies described in the announcement.
Plan around the two different milestones: approval and acceptance determine when the virtual card can be used, while mailing determines when the physical card is in hand. If you need a physical card for a particular date, allow the full stated window rather than assuming that virtual-card availability means the plastic card has already shipped.

What existing cardholders can and cannot do
Existing cardholders cannot switch to the Naruto design at this time. Rakuten provides a waitlist for a possible future switching option and says there is nothing else to do after joining it. Joining that list is distinct from receiving the limited new-cardholder allocation; it does not turn an existing account into one of the first 10,000 new accounts.
Do not close your account and reapply to chase the artwork. Rakuten’s switching FAQ warns: “Please do not close your account to reapply. Closing and reapplying will not provide the Naruto design and can affect your account history and rewards.” Closing can therefore create an account-history or rewards consequence without solving the design problem.
If you already have the card, the sensible sequence is to join the stated waitlist, retain the account if you still want its existing benefits, and wait for an official switching policy. The available materials do not provide a date when switching will open or promise that every waitlisted account will be converted.
Authorized-user cards
Authorized-user artwork follows the primary cardholder’s artwork. The issuer states that authorized-user cards always match the primary cardholder’s card design. Consequently, while Naruto inventory remains, an authorized user attached to a primary account carrying Naruto artwork receives a matching Naruto design rather than selecting a different one independently.
This is a matching rule, not a separate allocation for a second design choice. If the primary card has a standard design, the authorized-user card follows that standard design. If the primary card has Naruto artwork, the authorized-user card follows Naruto while the relevant supplies last.

Lost, stolen and replacement cards
A replacement for a reported lost or stolen Naruto card will feature Naruto while replacement supplies last. Once that replacement inventory runs out, the issuer sends a standard-design card instead. The replacement rule is therefore supply-dependent even when the original account already carried Naruto artwork.
Report a lost or stolen card through the issuer’s normal servicing channel as soon as you notice the problem. The published replacement guidance establishes which design may be sent; it does not promise that a replacement request made after inventory is exhausted can be fulfilled with Naruto artwork.

Choose the new-applicant route only if you genuinely want to apply for a new account and can meet the stated requirements. Choose the waitlist route if you already hold the card and your goal is simply to change its artwork. The issuer specifically says that closing and reapplying will not produce Naruto artwork.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Using a P.O. box instead of a home address
The eligibility language calls for a physical U.S. residential address. Entering only a P.O. box leaves out a stated requirement. Use the physical home address requested by the form; keep a separate mailing address only if the application explicitly provides a place for one.

The public limit is tied to the first 10,000 new cardholders who accept their offers. Starting the form, submitting it or receiving an approval decision without accepting does not match that condition. Complete the offer step promptly if you are approved and want to pursue the design.

Looking for a design picker that is not described
The announcement does not identify a separate artwork-selection step. Follow the official flow rather than entering design instructions into an unrelated field or relying on an unofficial application link.
Failing two-factor authentication
A personal phone and the ability to complete two-factor authentication are listed eligibility requirements. Make sure you can receive the authentication prompt before submitting, and complete every verification screen rather than abandoning the application after the initial form.
Applying as an existing customer
The limited offer is for new cardholders. Existing customers should use the stated waitlist instead of trying to force a design change through a new application. Closing an account to reapply can affect account history and rewards and will not provide the Naruto design.
Waiting until supplies are gone
The allocation is both numerically limited and subject to remaining inventory. No public end date is given in the announcement. If the artwork is the reason you are applying, delaying removes a condition you cannot control: whether the reserved cards are still available when your offer is accepted.
Who provides the card and application platform?
The issuer’s help-center materials identify First Electronic Bank as the issuer, American Express as the licensed network and Imprint Payments, Inc. as the platform provider. These are different roles: the bank issues the account, the network supplies the American Express payment infrastructure, and the platform provider supports the application and program experience described in the materials.
Use the official application address rather than a third-party page that promises a guaranteed Naruto card. The published terms establish eligibility, acceptance and supply conditions; they do not authorize anyone to bypass those conditions.
A final pre-submission checklist
- You are 18 or older.
- You have a physical U.S. residential address, not only a P.O. box.
- Your legal name and birth date are available exactly as requested.
- You have a valid SSN and can provide the last four digits or full number if prompted.
- You have a personal phone capable of completing two-factor authentication.
- You can provide income, housing, phone and email information.
- You understand that Naruto artwork is limited to new cardholders who accept an offer while the allocation lasts.
- If you already hold the card, you will not close the account and reapply solely for the design.
With those points in place, open the official application, submit one complete application, finish verification and review the offer carefully. Acceptance is the decisive step in the limited-design process; the virtual card then provides the earliest stated access, while the physical card follows by mail.
