The Jio Platforms IPO is scheduled to open on Wednesday, October 21, 2026 and close on Friday, October 23, 2026, subject to an official change. You can apply either through a permitted intermediary using a UPI mandate or through a participating ASBA bank that blocks the application amount in your account.

Before entering a bid, read the latest Jio Platforms Red Herring Prospectus (RHP), the issuer’s live issue notice and the NSE or BSE issue page. The consulted official documents confirm the dates and issue structure, but do not yet establish the final price band, lot size, minimum investment, UPI confirmation cut-off, allotment date, refund or unblocking date, or listing date.

What is confirmed about the Jio Platforms IPO

Jio Platforms Limited has filed an RHP dated October 14, 2026; SEBI records the RHP filing on October 15, 2026. Reliance Industries’ exchange notice gives the following timetable:

Event Date What it means for an applicant
Anchor investor bidding Monday, October 19, 2026 Anchor bidding takes place before the public subscription window.
Public issue opens Wednesday, October 21, 2026 Applications can be submitted through eligible UPI or ASBA channels once the live issue is available.
Public issue closes Friday, October 23, 2026 Applications and payment authorisations must meet the issue-specific closing rules.

The proposed fresh issue is up to 27 crore equity shares with a face value of ₹10 per share. A face value is not the same as the eventual offer price. The offer price, lot size and minimum application amount must be taken from the final live issue materials.

Check these details before you start

Have the required accounts and identifiers ready

  • A demat account in the applicant’s name is required to receive any allotted shares.
  • The PAN, demat details and bank-account information must match the applicant and the selected application category.
  • For the UPI route, use a UPI ID linked to a bank account that can accept IPO mandates.
  • For ASBA, use a bank and account permitted for the live issue’s ASBA process.
  • Keep enough cleared money in the linked account to cover the maximum amount authorised by the bid.

Do not submit an application using another person’s PAN, demat account or bank account unless the issue rules expressly allow that structure. Mismatched details can lead to rejection or an unsuccessful mandate.

Read the live issue terms

The consulted passages do not establish the final price band, number of shares in one lot, minimum investment, UPI mandate deadline, allotment date, release or refund date, or listing date. These items can determine how much money is blocked and when it becomes available again, so verify them in the latest RHP, issuer issue page and live NSE or BSE issue information immediately before applying.

Decide whether a category applies to you

Reliance Industries’ notice discloses a reservation of equity shares valued at not more than ₹2,500 crore for eligible Reliance Industries public equity shareholders. The notice uses October 14, 2026 as the relevant shareholder date and refers to exclusions and detailed definitions in the RHP.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

It also discloses an employee reservation valued at not more than ₹500 crore, subject to the RHP’s eligibility rules. Holding one Reliance Industries share does not by itself guarantee eligibility, a separate shareholder application route, or an allotment. Confirm the record-date evidence, category requirements, application limits and allocation method in the RHP.

How the UPI application route works

For an IPO, UPI is a payment mechanism within an ASBA process. You submit the bid through a permitted intermediary, receive a payment mandate in the linked UPI application and approve that mandate. The bank blocks the amount; it does not normally transfer the entire bid amount immediately.

Step 1: Open the issue application

  1. Open an IPO application facility offered by an eligible stock broker, registrar and transfer agent, depository participant or another permitted intermediary.
  2. Select Jio Platforms while the issue is open. Check that the displayed opening and closing dates match the current official notice.
  3. Choose the correct investor category. If you are applying as a shareholder or employee, select that category only after confirming that the RHP’s eligibility conditions apply to you.

Step 2: Enter the bid and applicant details

  1. Enter the applicant’s PAN and demat-account details exactly as recorded with the intermediary.
  2. Enter the number of shares or lots and the bid price. If the form permits a cut-off instruction, select it only after reading how that instruction operates for the issue.
  3. Enter a valid UPI ID belonging to the bank account that will fund the application.
  4. Review the application summary, including category, quantity, price, PAN, demat account and UPI ID, before submitting.

The exact fields and available investor categories can differ between platforms. Use the live application form and RHP rather than relying on a generic IPO screen.

Step 3: Submit and wait for the mandate

After submission, the intermediary sends the bid information for processing and the linked UPI application should display a mandate request. A submitted form without an approved mandate is not a completed UPI payment authorisation.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Step 4: Inspect the mandate carefully

Open the mandate in the UPI application and compare the issuer, applicant, amount, validity period and bank account. Reject or report a request that shows an unexpected amount, an unfamiliar payee or altered applicant information. Do not approve a duplicate request unless you have confirmed which application it belongs to.

Step 5: Approve before the issue-specific deadline

Approve the mandate within the UPI confirmation cut-off published for this issue. The consulted official passages do not give that Jio-specific time, and the cut-off can be earlier than the general issue closing time. A bid submitted close to the deadline may fail if the mandate arrives late or remains pending.

Step 6: Keep the amount available

Once approved, the bank places a hold for the bid amount. The money remains in the account but cannot be freely used while blocked. Leave a sufficient balance until the allotment process and any release instruction are complete; a later debit can occur for shares actually allotted.

Step 7: Save evidence

Keep the application number, acknowledgement, mandate reference and a screenshot or downloadable record of approval. These details help the intermediary or registrar trace a delayed, rejected or duplicated application.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Step 8: Check the result through official channels

After the issue publishes its process dates, check the registrar, exchange or intermediary for application and allotment status. Do not treat a successful mandate approval as evidence that shares will be allotted.

How to apply through ASBA without UPI

ASBA means Application Supported by Blocked Amount. The National Stock Exchange describes it as a payment method in which application money remains in the investor’s account until the basis of allotment is finalised. A participating Self-Certified Syndicate Bank accepts and verifies the form, blocks the bid amount, uploads the bid and later unblocks unused funds or transfers the amount due for allotted shares.

Step 1: Choose a permitted ASBA channel

Use a participating ASBA bank or another ASBA channel listed for the live Jio Platforms issue. Confirm that the branch, internet-banking facility or other route you intend to use is enabled for this issue before starting.

Step 2: Complete the bid-cum-application form

  1. Enter the applicant’s name, PAN and demat-account details.
  2. Enter the quantity, price and any permitted cut-off instruction.
  3. Provide the bank account from which the amount will be blocked.
  4. Select the correct public, shareholder or employee category only when the RHP confirms eligibility.
  5. Check every field against the demat and bank records before authorising the form.

Step 3: Authorise the block

Authorise the bank to block the maximum bid amount. The amount should stay in the account, but the bank may prevent you from using it for other transactions while the block is active. ASBA is not an immediate final debit for the full application.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Step 4: Retain the acknowledgement

Keep the application reference, counterfoil or electronic acknowledgement. Monitor the official allotment result and the bank account for the eventual transfer of the amount due or release of the unused balance.

UPI and ASBA compared

Practical point UPI-based application Traditional ASBA application
How payment is authorised Approve a mandate in the linked UPI application. Authorise the bank to block the bid amount.
Where the bid is submitted Through a permitted intermediary such as a broker, registrar and transfer agent or depository participant. Through a participating ASBA bank or permitted ASBA channel.
What happens to funds Funds are blocked; the amount due is used only if shares are allotted, and unused funds are released under the issue process. Funds remain blocked in the bank account until allotment processing; unused funds are unblocked and the amount due for allotted shares is transferred.
Main deadline risk The mandate must be approved by the issue-specific UPI confirmation cut-off. The form and authorisation must reach the permitted ASBA channel before bidding closes.

Both routes are blocking mechanisms rather than a promise of allotment. The choice is mainly about which authorisation method and submission channel you can complete reliably before the applicable deadline.

What happens to your money after applying

If no shares are allotted

The blocked amount should be released according to the issue’s mandate or ASBA processing schedule. The exact Jio Platforms release date is not established in the consulted documents, so rely on the live registrar, bank and exchange notices.

If some shares are allotted

The amount corresponding to the allotted shares is transferred or debited, while the balance is released. The calculation depends on the final offer price and the quantity allotted.

If the application is rejected

Common causes include invalid PAN or demat details, an ineligible category, duplicate applications where the rules prohibit them, insufficient balance, a missing or late UPI approval, or a form that was not accepted by the ASBA channel. The intermediary or registrar should provide the status and applicable correction or complaint route.

If a mandate remains pending

A pending UPI request is not equivalent to approval. Check the UPI application, bank status and intermediary application record. Do not create multiple applications unless the issue rules and intermediary specifically permit it, because duplicate bids can create rejection or blocking complications.

Shareholder and employee reservations

The disclosed shareholder reservation is capped at a value of ₹2,500 crore, and the employee reservation is capped at ₹500 crore. These are reservation values disclosed by Reliance Industries, not guaranteed allotments or fixed amounts for every applicant.

The RHP controls the operational details: who qualifies, which proof is accepted, whether an applicant can use more than one category, category-specific application limits, the reserved portion’s final size and how oversubscription is allocated. Read those provisions before selecting a category. An applicant who cannot prove eligibility should use only the category for which the rules provide support.

Price band, lot size and minimum investment

The official passages available for this guide do not state the final price band, lot size or minimum application amount. Do not calculate a required balance from the ₹10 face value; face value does not establish the public offer price.

When the price band is published, the basic maximum bid calculation is:

Maximum application amount = number of shares bid × selected bid price

For a cut-off bid, use the issue’s instructions to determine the amount the bank or UPI mandate must cover. Check whether the intermediary displays the amount using the upper end of the band and whether category-specific limits apply. Confirm the final lot size and minimum amount in the RHP or live issue page before authorising payment.

Troubleshooting checklist

UPI mandate does not appear

  • Confirm that the UPI ID was entered correctly and is linked to the intended bank account.
  • Check the UPI application’s mandate or pending-requests section, not only ordinary payment notifications.
  • Ask the intermediary whether the bid was successfully uploaded.
  • Do not wait past the published UPI confirmation cut-off; use the intermediary’s escalation process if the request is missing.

Mandate shows the wrong amount or applicant

  • Do not approve it.
  • Capture the reference and contact the intermediary and bank through their official support channels.
  • Verify whether a corrected application is allowed without creating a duplicate.

UPI approval fails

  • Check account balance, UPI limits, bank connectivity and mandate validity.
  • Ensure the bank account is not frozen or restricted from IPO mandates.
  • Contact the bank promptly; a later approval may miss the issue-specific deadline.

ASBA bank does not accept the form

  • Confirm that the bank and selected channel are listed as permitted for the issue.
  • Check PAN, demat, quantity, price and category fields against the RHP.
  • Request an acknowledgement showing whether the bid was accepted and uploaded.

The account remains blocked after allotment processing

Use the application reference to contact the bank, intermediary or registrar and ask which release instruction is pending. Compare the bank’s response with the official allotment and unblocking timetable once published.

Final checks before the October 23 closing date

  1. Confirm that the issue is open and that no revised timetable has been announced.
  2. Read the latest RHP for price band, lot size, category definitions and application limits.
  3. Use matching PAN, demat and bank details.
  4. For UPI, approve the mandate before the Jio-specific confirmation deadline, not merely before the general closing date.
  5. For ASBA, submit through a permitted channel early enough for acceptance and upload.
  6. Keep the blocked amount available and save every reference number.
  7. Check allotment and fund release only through the official registrar, exchange, bank or intermediary channels.

The confirmed public subscription window is October 21–23, 2026. The RHP and live issue pages remain the authority for every term that was not yet published in the official passages consulted for this guide.
