First confirm that your vehicle and its existing FASTag meet NHAI’s conditions, pay the displayed one-time fee of ₹3,075, and wait for the pass to be applied to that registered tag. NHAI says normal activation is within two hours of payment confirmation.
The pass is for eligible non-commercial cars, jeeps and vans. It is valid for 12 months from activation or 200 covered toll-plaza crossings, whichever comes first, and applies only at designated National Highway (NH) and National Expressway (NE) fee plazas.

|---|---|
| Application and activation channel | Official Rajmargyatra Annual Pass service or the NHAI website |
| Fee | ₹3,075, applicable from 1 April 2026 |
| Eligible vehicles | Non-commercial cars, jeeps and vans |
| Validity | 12 months from activation or 200 covered toll-plaza crossings, whichever occurs first |
| Network | About 1,150 designated National Highway and National Expressway fee plazas |
| Activation time | Normally within two hours after payment confirmation |
The ₹3,075 amount is the revised FY 2026–27 fee announced by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways through the Press Information Bureau on 15 March 2026. Older pages may still show the ₹3,000 base-year price used for FY 2025–26; that is not the current fee for a new FY 2026–27 activation.
Who can use the Annual Pass
Eligibility is checked against both the vehicle and the FASTag. You should start the online process only when all of the following are true:
#1 Best Overall
- The vehicle is a non-commercial car, jeep or van.
- You have a valid Registration Certificate (RC) for that vehicle.
- The FASTag is functional and issued for use on the vehicle.
- The tag is physically affixed to that vehicle’s windscreen rather than being carried loose or moved between vehicles.
- The FASTag is mapped to the vehicle’s registration number in the issuer’s records.
An existing FASTag can be used; you do not normally need a separate physical tag for the Annual Pass. The pass is applied to the registered FASTag associated with the eligible vehicle after the online payment succeeds. A tag that is inactive, incorrectly mounted, or linked to a different registration number can fail the eligibility check even if the vehicle itself is otherwise eligible.
How to apply online
Use only the official Rajmargyatra Annual Pass service or the NHAI website. The official FAQ identifies these as the activation channels. Do not enter card, bank or FASTag credentials on a site that presents itself as an agent or asks you to pay an additional service charge.
- Open the official service. Go to the Rajmargyatra Annual Pass service or reach the Annual Pass facility through the NHAI website. Check the web address and make sure you are on an official NHAI or Rajmargyatra page before entering vehicle or payment information.
- Start the eligibility check. Enter the requested vehicle and FASTag details. The service checks whether the vehicle category, RC and associated tag meet the Annual Pass conditions.
- Confirm the tag and vehicle match. Before continuing, verify that the displayed registration details belong to the vehicle in front of you and that the FASTag is the one affixed to its windscreen. If the tag belongs to another vehicle or the registration mapping is outdated, correct that issue with the FASTag issuer before trying again.
- Review the fee shown for the current financial year. For FY 2026–27 the applicable one-time charge is ₹3,075. Read the payment summary carefully, including the vehicle and tag details, before authorising the transaction.
- Pay online. Complete the payment through the official checkout. Save the confirmation page, transaction reference and any receipt or notification generated by the service.
- Wait for the pass to be applied. The pass is attached to the existing FASTag linked to the vehicle. NHAI’s stated normal window is within two hours after payment confirmation; activation is not a separate physical-tag installation.
- Check the status before a long trip. Use the same official service or the confirmation information to verify that the Annual Pass is active. Keep the FASTag correctly affixed and the windscreen unobstructed so the toll reader can identify it.
What happens after payment
Payment confirmation and pass activation are separate events. The transaction can succeed while the pass is still being applied to the registered tag. Allow the full two-hour window specified by NHAI before treating a normal delay as a failure.

Rank #2
- Ideal for Gifting
- Ideal for a bookworm
- Compact for travelling
Once active, the benefit is recognised through the existing FASTag at eligible plazas. You do not receive unlimited toll travel: the pass ends when either its time limit or its crossing limit is reached. The relevant starting point for the time limit is activation, not the date on which you first read about the scheme.
Where the pass works—and where it does not
NHAI describes the current network as about 1,150 designated National Highway and National Expressway fee plazas. At those covered plazas, an eligible non-commercial car, jeep or van can use the Annual Pass under the scheme’s terms.
Coverage is not a blanket exemption from every toll in India. State-government roads, local-body roads and privately operated roads outside the designated NH/NE network may continue to charge separately. A route can therefore include both covered and non-covered plazas. Check the route’s fee plazas rather than assuming that every toll booth accepts the pass.
Rank #3
The official terms also address closed user-fee systems. A crossing in such a system is treated according to those terms, so do not assume that a trip through a closed system is automatically free or that it cannot consume a crossing. If a planned route depends on a particular closed toll facility, confirm its treatment through the current official service information.
How validity and crossings are counted
The Annual Pass remains available for 12 months from activation or until 200 covered toll-plaza crossings have been used, whichever occurs first. The two limits are alternatives, not two benefits that can be combined. Reaching 200 qualifying crossings early ends the pass even if months remain; reaching the 12-month date ends it even if fewer crossings have occurred.
Only crossings recognised under the Annual Pass terms count toward the crossing limit. A toll on an excluded road is not converted into a covered crossing, but it can still appear as a separate charge under that road’s own rules. Keep payment confirmations and review your pass status if your travel pattern is close to the limit.

Annual Pass versus ordinary FASTag payments
Ordinary FASTag use deducts the applicable toll whenever you pass a participating plaza. The Annual Pass replaces those eligible NH/NE charges with a one-time annual payment, subject to its network, vehicle and usage limits.
| Decision point | Annual Pass | Ordinary FASTag payments |
|---|---|---|
| How you pay | One-time fee for the current financial year | Balance is debited for each applicable toll |
| Usage ceiling | Ends at the earlier of 12 months from activation or 200 covered crossings | No Annual Pass crossing ceiling; each passage is charged under the normal toll schedule |
| Road coverage | Designated NH/NE fee plazas in the scheme’s network | Any toll plaza where the FASTag is accepted, including roads outside the Annual Pass network, with the relevant toll deducted |
| Vehicle and tag condition | Eligible non-commercial vehicle with a valid, functional, correctly affixed and registration-linked FASTag | A valid FASTag is still required, but the Annual Pass eligibility test does not apply |
| Best fit | Drivers whose expected covered-road toll use makes the one-time fee worthwhile | Occasional users, or drivers who need frequent access to roads outside the covered NH/NE network |
To decide financially, estimate how much you normally spend at covered NH/NE plazas during a year and compare that amount with the current one-time fee. Include the possibility that the 200-crossing ceiling or the 12-month expiry could arrive first. Do not count tolls on excluded roads as Annual Pass savings.
What to do if activation is delayed
Use this sequence if the status does not change immediately:
Best Value
- It can be a gift option
- Comes with secure packaging
- Helpful in various ways
- Check the elapsed time. Confirm when payment was marked successful and allow up to two hours, which is NHAI’s normal activation window.
- Verify the payment result. Look for the official transaction reference, receipt or bank confirmation. A failed, reversed or pending payment cannot activate the pass.
- Recheck FASTag functionality. The tag must be active and usable, not blocked, suspended or otherwise unable to process a toll transaction.
- Inspect the physical installation. Make sure the tag is affixed to the windscreen of the same vehicle used in the application. A loose tag, a tag moved from another vehicle or a damaged tag can prevent recognition.
- Check the registration mapping. The FASTag record must show the vehicle’s current registration number. If the number, vehicle details or issuer record is wrong, contact the FASTag issuer and resolve the mapping before submitting another application.
- Use official support. If the normal window has passed and the eligibility details are correct, use the support route provided by NHAI or Rajmargyatra. Keep the transaction reference, registration number and payment timestamp ready.
NHAI’s published material gives the normal activation window and eligibility rules but does not provide a complete public error-code troubleshooting table. Be cautious of anyone promising instant manual activation in exchange for an extra payment.
Safety checks before you pay
- Open the Annual Pass facility from the official NHAI website or Rajmargyatra service rather than from a search advertisement or an unsolicited message.
- Confirm that the vehicle registration displayed during the eligibility step is yours.
- Never share an OTP, card PIN, internet-banking password or FASTag issuer login with an intermediary.
- Do not pay a second fee to a caller who claims to “release” or “speed up” activation.
- Save the receipt and transaction reference until the pass is visible as active and your first covered trip has completed.
Price history and why older guides differ
The original FY 2025–26 launch price was ₹3,000. The Press Information Bureau’s 15 August 2025 announcement described the pass as a one-time payment of ₹3,000 for one year or 200 toll-plaza crossings and reported that about 1.4 lakh users purchased and activated it on launch day. That historical figure explains why older FAQs and articles still show ₹3,000.
For FY 2026–27, the Press Information Bureau announcement dated 15 March 2026 states that NHAI revised the fee to ₹3,075 from 1 April 2026. Use the amount displayed in the official service for the financial year in which you apply, rather than relying on a cached page.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Before you start: a practical checklist
- Non-commercial car, jeep or van
- Valid Registration Certificate
- Functional FASTag
- FASTag physically affixed to the vehicle’s windscreen
- FASTag mapped to that vehicle’s registration number
- Access to the official Rajmargyatra Annual Pass service or NHAI website
- Online payment method and a way to save the transaction reference
- A route plan that distinguishes covered NH/NE plazas from state, local or private toll roads
If any item involving the tag or registration is not true, fix it first. The Annual Pass cannot make an invalid or mismatched FASTag eligible, and it does not extend to roads outside the designated network.
