You cannot type a missing account or folio directly into a Consolidated Account Statement (CAS). The statement is assembled from depository records (CDSL and NSDL) and mutual-fund registrar records. The fix depends on what is missing: a demat account or demat-held units must be corrected through your depository participant (DP), while a mutual-fund folio held in Statement of Account (SOA) form must be corrected through the relevant registrar and transfer agent (RTA), fund house or MFCentral.
Start by matching the absent investment to the AMC/RTA statement or your DP statement. Confirm the PAN, holder names, holding pattern, registered email and account identifiers, then regenerate a statement for a period that covers the balance or transaction. If the record is still absent, escalate to the organisation that owns that data and retain the service-request number.

Identify what is actually missing
A CAS can combine several data sources, so the first diagnostic question is whether the investment is held in SOA form or in a demat account. An AMC or RTA statement and a depository statement are different records and are not interchangeable.

| Holding you cannot find | Record owner | Statement that should show it | Who can correct the underlying record |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mutual-fund folio in SOA form | Fund house and its MF-RTA, such as CAMS or KFintech | CAS plus the RTA/AMC account statement | Relevant RTA service centre or AMC |
| Mutual-fund units held only in demat form | Depository and DP | DP/depository transaction or holding statement | Your DP, with depository records updated through the DP |
| Shares, bonds or other securities in a demat account | CDSL or NSDL through the DP | CAS when the account is included, and the DP statement | Your DP |
Look at the original transaction confirmation, account statement or broker contract note. Wording such as “folio number” and “units allotted in SOA” points to an RTA record. A DP ID, client ID, 16-digit CDSL account number or a demat account number points to a depository record. A broker’s portfolio screen is useful for spotting a discrepancy, but it is not the authoritative record for either source.

What a CAS covers—and its boundary
CDSL describes CAS as a consolidated view of transactions and holdings in CDSL and NSDL demat account(s), together with mutual-fund units held in SOA form. RTA-reported activity can include purchases, redemptions, switches, dividends, SIP, SWP, STP, bonus units and mergers. NSDL similarly describes one statement spanning both depositories and SOA mutual-fund units.
There is an important exception: when mutual-fund units are held only in demat form, CDSL says a CAS is not generated for those units. The DP’s demat statement is the place to verify them. Therefore, an investment can be visible in a broker or DP statement yet absent from the mutual-fund section of a CAS without the units being lost.
Use this troubleshooting sequence
- Compare the missing item with its source statement. Download the latest statement from the AMC/RTA or DP. Record the folio or account number, scheme or security name, units, transaction dates and the names of all holders. Note whether the statement says SOA or demat.
- Check identity and linkage details. Verify the PAN for every holder, spelling of names, order of joint holders, holding pattern (single, joint or either/survivor), date of birth where used for identification, and the email and mobile number registered on the account. A PAN mismatch or a different joint-holder order can prevent aggregation even when the investment itself is valid.
- Route demat holdings to the DP. Give the DP the complete DP ID and client ID, or the full 16-digit CDSL account number, plus the PAN and holder details. Ask whether the account is mapped to the correct PAN and whether current data has been supplied to the depository. Check the DP statement while the issue is investigated.
- Regenerate an SOA statement through an official route. Use CAMS, KFintech or MFCentral with the email registered in the folio. Choose a detailed period that includes the purchase, switch, dividend, redemption or other activity; a current-balance-only summary can omit the historical event you are trying to verify.
- Escalate an unlisted folio. Contact the RTA service centre or AMC and request correction of the PAN, email, holder details or folio linkage. For a CAMS CAN-based statement, CAMS specifically instructs investors to contact the nearest CAMS Service Centre when a folio is missing. Keep the complaint or service-request number and the documents submitted.
- Recheck after the correction is processed. Generate the next CAS or a fresh detailed statement. Compare the folio or account identifier, scheme or security, units, transaction dates and valuation against the source statement. Corrections may need to reach the next reporting cycle; neither a DP nor an RTA should be expected to merge records instantly.
How to regenerate a mutual-fund CAS
CAMS mail-back CAS
Use the email address registered across your CAMS- and KFintech-serviced funds. The CAMS CAS service lets you choose a summary or detailed output and a folio-listing option. Select a period wide enough to include the transaction or closing balance in question. If the demat portion is wrong, CAMS warns that its demat information is based on the latest data received from the depositories; send that discrepancy to the DP rather than asking CAMS to edit it.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteKFintech mail-back CAS
Request the consolidated statement through the email registered in the relevant folios. KFintech sends the PDF as a password-protected file, so retain the password instructions and check the full attachment rather than relying on the email preview. Use a detailed period when you need to establish when units were bought, switched, redeemed or credited.
MFCentral
AMFI says investors can register on MFCentral and generate either a Summary or Detailed CAS for the current financial year, previous financial year or a specific period of up to 365 days. Choose the window that contains the transaction date or the date on which the balance should have appeared. If the folio is absent in every selected window, the issue is more likely to be identity or folio linkage than an email-delivery problem.
CAMS CAN-based statement
Investors using a Common Account Number (CAN) can request a statement consolidating the folios mapped to that CAN. A folio that exists in an AMC statement but is absent from the CAN output needs to be investigated by CAMS. The stated escalation is the nearest CAMS Service Centre; provide the folio number, holder PAN and proof of the registered details.

Fixing a missing demat account or demat-held fund units
The DP controls the client-account records that are passed to CDSL or NSDL. Contact the DP through its official service channel and describe the discrepancy as a missing account or incorrect depository mapping, not as a missing SOA folio.

- DP ID and client ID, or the complete 16-digit CDSL account number.
- PAN of each holder and the exact name shown in the account.
- Holding pattern and order of joint holders.
- Registered email address and mobile number.
- Date of the latest transaction or statement in which the account appeared.
- A copy of the DP statement or contract note showing the securities or demat-held mutual-fund units.
Ask the DP to verify that the account is mapped to the correct PAN and that the depository has supplied current data for CAS. Also ask whether the account has activity or a balance that should affect statement delivery. Do not ask an RTA to create a folio for units that are already in demat form; the DP statement remains the controlling record for those units.
Why a valid folio may not appear
PAN or name mismatch
CAS aggregation relies on matching identity information. A typo, an old PAN, a missing PAN for one joint holder or a different name order can split records that belong to the same investor. Correct the record with the RTA or AMC, then request a new statement after the change is acknowledged.
Different holding pattern
“Single,” “joint” and “either or survivor” registrations are distinct. A folio with two holders in one order may not combine with an account using the reverse order. Ask the RTA to confirm the registered pattern rather than assuming the records will merge automatically.
Recent transaction or corporate action
Purchases, switches, SIP instalments, dividends, bonuses and mergers may be reported after the transaction is processed by the RTA. Use a detailed period that starts before the transaction date and ends after the expected credit. Check the AMC/RTA statement first to distinguish a reporting delay from a missing folio.
Demat and SOA records were mistaken for one another
A mutual-fund investment can be routed through a broker into a demat account or held directly with the fund in SOA form. The former belongs in the DP statement; the latter is aggregated by the RTA. A broker dashboard may display both, which can make a CAS appear incomplete even when each underlying statement is correct.

A missing email is not proof of a missing investment
Delivery depends on activity and balances. NSDL describes monthly e-CAS for clients with a transaction during the month; accounts with balances but no transactions receive a half-yearly statement at September and March end; accounts with no transactions or balances receive a yearly statement at March end. A missed monthly email can therefore reflect the delivery schedule, a changed email address or a mail-filtering problem rather than an absent holding.
When and how CAS is delivered
SEBI’s CAS framework provides for depository dispatch of a consolidated statement when an investor has mutual-fund investments and demat accounts with relevant activity. Investors who hold only mutual funds continue to receive statements from the AMC or MF-RTAs. This is why a person with an SOA folio but no demat activity may receive an RTA statement rather than a depository-dispatched CAS.
NSDL says a misplaced e-CAS can be fetched through SPEED-e or IDeAS. Check those services when the statement should have been issued but the email cannot be found. Confirm that the email registered with the DP is current and that the message is not in a spam, promotions or quarantine folder.
Verify the corrected statement line by line
Do not stop when the account number appears. Reconcile the content with the source statement:
- Identity: PAN, holder names and holding pattern match.
- Account or folio: The complete identifier is present, with no truncation or duplicate entry.
- Scheme or security: The fund scheme, plan or security description is the one you own.
- Units: Opening units, purchases, redemptions, switches, dividends, bonuses and closing units reconcile.
- Dates: Transaction and valuation dates fall in the selected statement period.
- Value: The valuation date and price are understood; a different valuation date can explain a different rupee total without indicating missing units.
Save the corrected CAS, the underlying AMC/RTA or DP statement and the service-request correspondence. Keeping the three records together makes a later tax, nomination or transmission query easier to resolve.
Escalation checklist
Escalate to the DP when
- A CDSL or NSDL demat account is absent.
- Demat-held mutual-fund units appear in the DP statement but not in CAS.
- The DP ID, client ID, PAN mapping or registered contact details are wrong.
- The depository statement and broker display disagree.
Escalate to the RTA or AMC when
- An SOA folio appears in an AMC/RTA statement but not in CAMS, KFintech or MFCentral output.
- The PAN, holder name, joint-holder order, email or folio linkage is incorrect.
- A recent transaction is missing after the processing period shown by the AMC/RTA statement.
- A CAMS CAN statement omits a folio that should be mapped to the CAN.
Quote the exact folio or account identifier, describe the mismatch in one sentence and attach only the documents requested through the official channel. Ask for written confirmation of the corrected field and keep the reference number until a regenerated statement agrees with the source record.

Quick decision guide
| Question | Next action |
|---|---|
| Does the source document show a folio and SOA units? | Regenerate through CAMS, KFintech or MFCentral, then escalate to the RTA or AMC if it remains absent. |
| Does the source document show a DP ID, client ID or 16-digit CDSL number? | Use the DP/depository statement and ask the DP to check PAN and account mapping. |
| Is the holding only in demat form? | Do not expect a separate mutual-fund folio in CAS; reconcile it in the DP statement. |
| Did you only miss an email? | Check the NSDL delivery cycle, SPEED-e or IDeAS, registered contact details and mail filters. |
| Did a correction just occur? | Wait for the corrected data to reach the next statement cycle, then regenerate and reconcile. |
Compare the official verification routes
Use the route that matches the owner of the record. These services are complementary rather than interchangeable.
| Route | What it covers | Best use | Escalation if data is absent |
|---|---|---|---|
| CAMS CAS | Mutual-fund folios reported by CAMS and KFintech, with depository information based on the latest data received | Summary or detailed consolidated mutual-fund statement and folio listing | RTA or AMC for SOA details; DP for demat details |
| KFintech CAS | Folios serviced by the relevant registrars through registered-email mail-back | Password-protected PDF showing the selected period | Relevant RTA or AMC |
| MFCentral | Consolidated mutual-fund view across participating folios | Summary or detailed CAS for the current financial year, previous financial year or a period up to 365 days | RTA or AMC after PAN and holder checks |
| DP statement | CDSL or NSDL demat accounts, including mutual-fund units held only in demat form | Authoritative holdings and transactions for dematerialised securities | DP, which checks depository mapping and supplied data |
| SPEED-e or IDeAS | Retrieval of a misplaced NSDL e-CAS | Finding a statement that was issued but not retained | DP if the account or contact details are wrong |
Prepare a complete correction request
A precise request reduces back-and-forth. State whether the problem is a missing demat account, demat-held fund units or an SOA folio. Include the full identifier, the date of the source statement, the exact line that is absent and the result you expect after correction. For a joint holding, list every holder in the registered order and provide each PAN exactly as recorded.
Attach the source statement that proves the holding, but send documents only through the DP, RTA, AMC or platform’s official channel. Record when the request was submitted, the service centre or DP used, the reference number and the field that the organisation agreed to correct. A request to change PAN or holder information may require the organisation’s prescribed identity or modification process before the corrected value is passed to CAS.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What to expect after a correction
Updating a PAN, name, email, joint-holder order or folio linkage changes the underlying record first. The corrected data then has to be supplied in a later reporting file before a newly generated CAS can display it. A successful acknowledgement is therefore not the same as an immediately revised statement.
Until the next CAS reflects the change, use the corrected AMC/RTA statement or DP statement as the current record. Generate a fresh detailed CAS after the next statement cycle and reconcile identifiers, transactions, units and valuation again. If the source statement is corrected but the consolidated output remains wrong, reopen the case with the same reference number and show both versions.

Common dead ends to avoid
- Trying to type an account or folio into CAS: CAS is generated from depository and registrar data.
- Asking an RTA to display mutual-fund units that are already held only in demat form: verify those units through the DP.
- Using a broker portfolio screen as proof that the depository or RTA record is complete: compare it with the underlying statement.
- Checking only a summary or a narrow date range: select a detailed period that includes the transaction and the expected balance.
- Assuming that no monthly email means no investment: apply the NSDL activity-and-balance delivery schedule and check retrieval services.
- Waiting for a correction without retaining the case number: keep the correspondence until a regenerated statement agrees with the source.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is my demat account missing from CAS?
CAS receives demat data from CDSL and NSDL through your DP. Check the DP statement first, then ask the DP to verify the DP ID, client ID or 16-digit CDSL number, PAN mapping, holder details and registered contact information. The DP must investigate a depository-account discrepancy.

How do I add a missing mutual-fund folio to CAS?
You cannot add it manually. Confirm that the folio is held in SOA form, regenerate a statement through CAMS, KFintech or MFCentral using the registered email, and select a period that covers the balance or transaction. If the folio is still absent, ask the relevant RTA or AMC to correct the PAN, email, holder details or folio linkage.
Do mutual-fund units held in demat appear as a separate folio in CAS?
Not necessarily. CDSL says units held only in demat form do not generate a CAS entry for those units. Use the DP or depository holding and transaction statement instead; do not ask the RTA to create an SOA folio for the same dematerialised units.
Which email address should I use to regenerate a CAS?
Use the email registered in the folio or account records. CAMS aggregates CAMS- and KFintech-serviced funds through the registered email, and KFintech sends its PDF to the email registered in the relevant folios. If the address is outdated, request an update from the RTA, AMC or DP first.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →What date range can I select on MFCentral?
AMFI says MFCentral offers Summary or Detailed CAS for the current financial year, previous financial year or a specific period of up to 365 days. Choose dates that include the purchase, switch, dividend, redemption, corporate action or closing balance you are checking.
Why did I not receive a monthly CAS email?
NSDL describes monthly e-CAS for clients with a transaction during the month. Accounts with balances but no transactions receive statements at September and March end, while accounts with no transactions or balances receive a yearly statement at March end. Check SPEED-e or IDeAS, your registered email and mail filters before treating the missing email as a missing investment.
What should I do if a folio is missing from a CAMS CAN statement?
Compare the CAN output with the AMC or RTA statement. CAMS says that a missing folio should be taken to the nearest CAMS Service Centre. Provide the folio number, holder PAN and proof of the registered details, and retain the service-request number.
How do I know the correction worked?
Generate the next CAS or a fresh detailed statement and compare it with the source statement. Check PAN and holder names, holding pattern, complete folio or account identifier, scheme or security, opening and closing units, transaction dates and valuation date. Keep both statements and the correction correspondence.
