Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro: Price, Deals, and Where to Buy in 2026

In August 2026, the Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are end-of-life-market phones, not normal new-phone purchases. Most available units are used, refurbished, old stock, or marketplace listings. Google’s five-year update policy implies that both models have only a short period of official Android and security support remaining—approximately through October 2026.

The Pixel 6 can still make sense at a very low used price, but only if the battery, carrier status, return policy, and remaining support are acceptable. The Pixel 6 Pro is harder to justify unless its price is unusually low, because its larger display and telephoto camera do not extend its support life.

Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro prices at a glance

Phone Original U.S. configuration Launch price Current buying reality
Pixel 6 128GB $599 Used and refurbished listings generally ranged from the mid-$100s to low-$200s in late July 2026
Pixel 6 Pro 128GB $899 Used-market pricing was inconsistent; expensive listings often offered poor value versus newer Pixels

Google announced U.S. availability for both phones on October 28, 2021. The Pixel 6 Pro was also sold in 256GB and 512GB configurations in the United States. These launch prices are historical MSRP, not a reliable measure of what either phone is worth today. Google’s launch announcement lists the original pricing and availability, while the Pixel 6 Pro brochure documents its specifications.

Keep four figures separate when comparing listings:

#1 Best Overall
Google Pixel 6 5G, 128GB, Stormy Black - Unlocked (Renewed)
  • Google Pixel 6 powered by Google’s first-generation Tensor processor, enabling advanced on-device AI features such as more natural voice typing, quick language translation, and improved image processing without relying heavily on cloud services.
  • Launch price: the original price when Google introduced the phone.
  • Original retail price: the manufacturer’s historical MSRP, which may appear in a seller’s “discount” calculation.
  • Current asking price: the amount a particular seller wants for a specific condition, storage size, and carrier version.
  • Real purchase cost: the price after tax, shipping, accessories, likely battery work, and the risk of having no useful return coverage.

Can you still buy a Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro new?

Not reliably. Google’s current store emphasizes newer Pixel generations and certified-refurbished inventory, and the Pixel 6 series is no longer a dependable new-phone product on the official Google Store. Remaining “new” listings may be old inventory, imported units, third-party marketplace stock, or products incorrectly categorized by a seller. See Google Store offers and the Google Store refurbished-device page.

A sealed phone is not necessarily a fresh phone. A Pixel manufactured several years ago can have an aged battery even if the box has never been opened. Before buying an alleged new unit, verify the exact model number, U.S. region compatibility, carrier support, warranty terms, and return policy.

Marketplace prices change quickly, so these figures should be treated as dated reference points rather than guarantees.

Pixel 6

Late-July 2026 Swappa data showed Pixel 6 listings starting at approximately $148, with an average around $174. Its July 30 snapshot showed average listed prices of about $154 for an unlocked 128GB model, $199 for an unlocked 256GB model, $196 for a Verizon 128GB model, and $170 for a Verizon 256GB model. These differences reflect storage, condition, carrier, and seller—not necessarily better value.

A Back Market example showed a 256GB unlocked Pixel 6 in Fair condition for roughly $220, with a displayed 30-day return period and one-year warranty. Best Buy search results showed refurbished Pixel 6 listings around $180–$200, although some were sold out or had inconsistent third-party availability. Check the Swappa listings, Swappa price guide, Back Market listing, and Best Buy search page for live status.

Pixel 6 Pro

Pixel 6 Pro pricing was more erratic. A Best Buy search snapshot showed a refurbished 256GB unlocked unit around $571, but that was not a reliable market average and may not represent current availability. A Pixel 6 Pro priced close to newer supported Pixels is generally a poor financial choice, even though its hardware remains capable.

Where to buy safely

1. Google-certified refurbished inventory

If the exact model is available, Google-certified refurbished stock is the lowest-risk option. Google says qualifying refurbished phones are inspected, updated before packaging, supplied with a compatible charger, and covered by a one-year limited warranty. Availability varies by country and inventory, and Pixel 6 stock may be absent or intermittent. Google’s offers page has advertised discounts of up to 40% on certified-refurbished Pixel phones, but the precise discount and models must be checked at checkout.

This option is usually not the cheapest. You are paying for clearer manufacturer-backed standards and support rather than simply buying the lowest-priced device.

2. Best Buy refurbished listings

Best Buy can be useful for shoppers who value a major retailer, store pickup, and a clearer returns process. However, listing status and seller identity vary. Confirm whether the phone is sold by Best Buy or a marketplace seller, whether it is Geek Squad Certified, what warranty applies, and whether the item is actually in stock for your ZIP code.

  • Pixel’s 50 megapixel rear camera captures 150% more light for photos with richer colors and more detail[2]
  • Professional tools like Magic Eraser[3], Motion Mode, and Portrait Mode keep your photos sharp, accurate, and focused
  • Pixel’s fast charging[4] all day battery adapts to you and saves power for apps you use most[5]

3. Swappa

Swappa generally offers a wider selection and lower prices than manufacturer-backed channels. Business sellers, Phonecheck-certified listings, and seller warranties can reduce risk, but there is no single refurbishment standard across every listing. Compare battery disclosures, seller ratings, carrier status, condition photos, and return terms.

4. Back Market and similar refurbishers

Back Market can provide standardized condition grades and stated buyer protections. The individual refurbisher still matters. A listing’s “Fair” or “Good” grade does not guarantee an original battery, original screen, or factory-level water resistance. Read the warranty and return terms for the specific listing before paying.

5. Private-party marketplaces

Private-party listings can be cheapest but carry the greatest risk. Avoid listings with stock photos only, vague battery information, no returns, unusually low prices, or claims that the phone “works with all carriers” without an exact model number and IMEI verification.

Pixel 6 versus Pixel 6 Pro

Consideration Pixel 6 Pixel 6 Pro
Position Lower-cost standard model Higher-end model
Display 6.4-inch, 90Hz 6.7-inch, 120Hz
Cameras Main and ultrawide cameras Adds a telephoto camera
Ergonomics More manageable size and weight Larger and heavier
Support window Same expected end window Same expected end window
2026 value Acceptable only at a low price Worth considering only if unusually cheap

Choose the Pixel 6 if you want the least expensive route to Pixel photography, Google’s Android interface, wireless charging, 5G, and a 90Hz display. Choose the Pro if its larger screen, smoother 120Hz panel, telephoto camera, and premium design matter enough to justify the price premium.

Do not assume the Pro will receive updates longer. Google groups both phones under its policy of five years of Android-version and security updates from first Google Store availability. Because U.S. availability began on October 28, 2021, that policy implies an expected support window ending around October 2026. It is safer to describe that as an approximate window, not a confirmed final patch date. See Google’s Pixel update policy.

Is the Pixel 6 still worth buying in 2026?

Sometimes—but only as a low-cost, short-term purchase. The Pixel 6 still offers strong computational photography for its age, a clean Android experience, 5G, wireless charging, and enough performance for ordinary apps. Those benefits are meaningful if the phone costs substantially less than a newer supported Pixel.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The main problem is not that the hardware suddenly stops working. It is that the expected official security-support window is nearly over. A used battery may also have materially degraded capacity, and first-generation Tensor hardware and its modem are less appealing than newer Pixel platforms.

Buy a Pixel 6 only if the price is clearly below newer supported alternatives, the seller offers a meaningful return period, the battery condition is disclosed or reflected in the price, and you accept that official support may end around October 2026.

The Pixel 6 Pro needs an even steeper discount. Its camera and display are better, but a high price buys the same short support horizon. If a Pro listing approaches the cost of a Pixel 8, Pixel 8a, Pixel 9a, or another newer refurbished phone, skip it.

What does “unlocked” actually mean?

“Unlocked” means the phone is not restricted to one carrier. It does not guarantee compatibility with every carrier, every 5G band, or every regional network configuration.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Verizon variants can differ from fully unlocked Google Store models in hardware and activation behavior. Physical-SIM and eSIM support also does not guarantee activation on every network. Before buying:

  1. Ask for the exact model number.
  2. Obtain the IMEI and check it with the intended carrier.
  3. Confirm the phone is paid off and not tied to carrier financing.
  4. Check that it is not blacklisted.
  5. Confirm the seller’s claimed unlocked status independently.

Used and refurbished Pixel 6 inspection checklist

  • Battery: Ask for battery health, cycle information, or replacement documentation. “Works fine” is not a battery-health disclosure.
  • Screen: Check for burn-in, green tint, dead pixels, scratches, and touch problems.
  • Fingerprint sensor: Test enrollment and unlocking. Replacement screens or protectors can affect performance.
  • Charging: Test the USB-C port, charging speed, wireless charging, and cable fit.
  • Hardware: Test cameras, microphones, speakers, vibration, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, 5G, and cellular calls.
  • IMEI: Confirm the device is clean and not reported lost, stolen, or unpaid.
  • Account lock: Make sure the previous owner removed the Google account and that the phone can be reset and activated normally.
  • Physical condition: Look for water-damage indicators, bent frames, cracked camera glass, and evidence of poor repairs.
  • Parts: Ask whether the screen, battery, and other replacement components are original or aftermarket.
  • Protection: Confirm the return window, warranty, charger inclusion, grading standard, and seller identity.

“Certified refurbished” is not a universal term. Google-certified, retailer-certified, and marketplace-refurbished phones can have different inspection standards, replacement parts, battery thresholds, warranties, and returns.

How to judge whether a deal is really good

Use this calculation rather than comparing headline prices:

Total value = purchase price + likely battery replacement + tax and shipping + accessories + the cost of having no return protection + the risk created by short remaining software support.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A $150 phone with a weak battery and no returns may be worse value than a $210 phone with a tested battery, a warranty, and a 30-day return period. Likewise, a “new” Pixel 6 priced against its $599 launch MSRP may look discounted while still being overpriced for a phone nearing the end of official support.

Be careful with carrier “free phone” promotions

Carrier promotions can make an old Pixel appear free or heavily discounted, but “free” generally means monthly bill credits attached to a service and installment agreement. Requirements may include a new line, an upgrade, a qualifying unlimited plan, a trade-in, 24–36 months of device payments, taxes, and activation fees.

The credits can stop if you leave the carrier, pay off the phone early, change plans, or otherwise fail to meet the promotion’s terms. Consider the offer only if you already want the required plan and the carrier is effectively giving away the phone. Do not treat a bill-credit promotion as an unconditional discount.

Better alternatives to consider

  • Pixel 7 or 7 Pro: Somewhat newer, but also approaching the end of Google’s five-year support window.
  • Pixel 8 or 8 Pro: A materially stronger long-term choice because Pixel 8 and later receive seven years of updates.
  • Pixel 8a: Often a particularly good budget alternative when available at a modest premium.
  • Pixel 9a or newer A-series: Better long-term value when discounted or available refurbished.
  • Samsung Galaxy A-series or S-series: Worth considering for broader carrier availability or a different support and hardware mix.
  • Older or current iPhones: Potential alternatives for buyers prioritizing long software support and resale value, depending on current pricing.

The key comparison is not just camera quality or purchase price. It is how much usable, officially supported time you receive for your money. Google’s update policy gives Pixel 8 and later a seven-year window, compared with five years for the Pixel 6 generation.

The Pixel 6 Pro launched in the United States at $899 for 128GB.

Is the Pixel 6 discontinued?

The Pixel 6 series is no longer a dependable current product on the official Google Store. Remaining listings are mainly used, refurbished, marketplace, imported, or old-stock units.

How long will the Pixel 6 receive updates?

Google’s five-year policy, measured from U.S. availability on October 28, 2021, implies an expected support window through approximately October 2026. Google should be treated as the authority for the final update date.

Is a used Pixel 6 worth buying?

Only at a clearly low price and with a verified battery, clean IMEI, compatible carrier status, and meaningful return protection. Buyers wanting several more years of updates should choose a newer Pixel.

Is the Pixel 6 Pro better than the Pixel 6?

The Pro has a larger 120Hz display and telephoto camera, but it does not have a longer support window. It is worthwhile only when its price premium is modest.

Is an unlocked Pixel 6 compatible with Verizon, AT&T, or T-Mobile?

Compatibility depends on the exact model, region, bands, IMEI status, and carrier requirements. Verify the model and IMEI with the intended carrier rather than relying on the seller’s title.

What should I check before buying a refurbished Pixel 6?

Check battery condition, screen and fingerprint performance, charging, cameras, connectivity, IMEI, account-lock status, replacement parts, seller identity, warranty, and return period.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Is a carrier deal really cheaper?

Not necessarily. Many “free” offers depend on bill credits, a qualifying plan, trade-in requirements, taxes, and a 24–36-month commitment.

Should I buy a Pixel 6 or a newer refurbished Pixel?

A newer refurbished Pixel is usually the better long-term value if the price difference is manageable, especially a Pixel 8 or later with Google’s seven-year update policy.
