FXTM’s Chief Commercial Officer, Lex Webster, welcomed Spina and said he was expected to support the company’s international expansion and act as an ambassador for its partnership business. Those comments describe the company’s expectations at the time; they are not evidence of specific revenue, client-growth or geographic-expansion results.
Spina’s background when he joined
FXTM’s announcement described Spina as a financial-services professional with two decades of experience. It said he held an economics degree from the University of Chicago and began his career in investment banking.
His most recent position before FXTM was Director of Institutional Sales at Saxo Capital Markets. The announcement also identified earlier roles as Head of Partnerships at Gain Capital and Vice President of Sales at FXCM.

For a retail broker, partnerships can include relationships with introducing brokers, affiliates, institutional counterparties, technology providers and other distribution partners. These relationships may help a broker reach prospective customers or offer products and services through external networks.
However, the appointment alone does not establish how FXTM’s partnership business performed. The original announcement did not provide independently audited figures for partner-generated clients, trading volumes, revenue or regional growth. Spina said he was attracted by FXTM’s focus on long-term partner relationships and its plans for the business, but those were statements about his reasons for joining and the company’s strategy—not independently verified performance claims.

Do not treat the appointment as current
Readers looking for current information about FXTM should not assume that Spina remains with the broker. Later reports place him at ThinkMarkets from August 2019, followed by his own trading consultancy or start-up identified as Operar FX, Eurotrader and then Markets.com.
In January 2024, Markets.com announced Spina as its Chief Operating Officer and described Eurotrader Group as his most recent role before joining the company. The current FXTM market-analysis team page reviewed for this article does not list him, and the available sources do not verify that he has returned to FXTM.

The announcement was primarily a corporate-management change rather than a change to an individual trader’s account terms. It did not, by itself, alter spreads, commissions, leverage, withdrawal rules, platform availability or regulatory status.

Anyone assessing FXTM today should check the broker’s current website, client agreement and the rules of the specific legal entity servicing their account. The regulatory and product information attached to a 2019 announcement may no longer describe the broker’s current structure or regional availability. FXTM’s present partners information identifies a different current corporate and regulatory framework than the boilerplate used in the 2019 report.
For personal-finance decisions, the more useful checks are current rather than historical: confirm the entity named in the account documents, review the regulator’s register where applicable, understand the costs of trading leveraged products and verify how client-money protections and withdrawals work in the relevant jurisdiction.
