- What file do you actually receive? A preview may show an editable design while the free download contains only a raster image, or a vector may be supplied in AI, EPS, SVG or PDF rather than PSD.
- Is the asset marked free or premium? Mixed catalogs often place both types in the same search results.
- Is attribution required? If so, note the exact credit wording and where it must appear.
- Does the license cover your use? Check client work, paid advertising, templates, print-on-demand products, merchandise, app interfaces and redistribution separately.

Free downloads are covered by the Vecteezy Free license and require attribution. If you cannot place the required credit in your intended medium—for example, a logo presentation, a physical product or a paid advertisement—choose an asset whose license permits that use without the same credit requirement or obtain the applicable paid permission.
Flaticon for icons and stickers
Flaticon is oriented toward icons and stickers rather than general-purpose stock scenes. Its current site lists PNG, SVG, EPS, PSD and CSS output options, which can cover web interfaces, presentations and editable design workflows. The presence of a format selector does not guarantee that every icon is available in every format, so verify the selected item.
Flaticon’s legal information, dated April 2026, distinguishes free downloads from premium access. Free downloads require author attribution; premium access is described as removing that attribution requirement. “Premium” does not mean that the original icon file may be redistributed as a standalone download, so read the restrictions for apps, templates, icon packs and merchandise.

Two focused alternatives outside the nine-site list
unDraw for customizable SVG illustrations
unDraw is a focused illustration collection rather than a broad PSD marketplace. Its official page says the illustrations are free for personal or commercial use without attribution and supports live color customization before download. That makes it useful for landing pages, reports, presentations and product onboarding when SVG is sufficient.
Do not select unDraw expecting layered PSD templates or a general stock-photo-style catalog. Its strength is a consistent set of editable SVG scenes with quick color changes.
SVG Repo for SVG vectors and icons
SVG Repo advertises more than 500,000 open-licensed SVG vectors and icons and says that most are usable commercially without royalties. “Most” is deliberately narrower than “all.” Open the individual item’s license, especially when an icon will be embedded in a paid product, redistributed in a template or combined into a new icon pack.
SVG Repo is an SVG and icon resource, not a PSD alternative. If your workflow depends on Photoshop layers, use a source that explicitly supplies PSD and check whether the layers and fonts are included.

When you need an editable vector logo or illustration
Start with Vecteezy’s format filters and look for EPS, AI or SVG on the actual asset page. EPS is widely supported by vector editors, while SVG is convenient for web and interface work. Download a test file and confirm that paths, text and clipping masks behave correctly in your software before building a full project around it.

When you need icons for an interface
Flaticon and SVG Repo are the most natural starting points in this group. Compare stroke weight, viewBox dimensions, naming consistency and license obligations across the entire set, not just one attractive icon. A mixed set assembled from unrelated authors can look inconsistent and carry different attribution rules.
When you need a layered PSD
Search the sites that explicitly expose PSD as a format, particularly 365PSD.com, Flaticon and Vecteezy’s broader resource catalog. Confirm that the download is genuinely layered, that linked fonts are identified, and that the license permits editing and the final distribution you intend. A PSD preview alone does not prove that the free file contains editable layers.
When you need a no-attribution illustration
unDraw is the clearest verified choice in this set because its stated terms allow personal and commercial use without attribution. SVG Repo may also fit, but its “most” commercially usable wording requires an item-level check.
A license-safe download workflow
- Define the end use. Write down whether the asset is for a personal project, client deliverable, advertising campaign, app interface, template, merchandise item or a downloadable product.
- Filter by the required format. Do not rely on a thumbnail. Confirm AI, EPS, SVG, PDF or PSD availability on the asset page and check whether the file is layered or flattened.
- Open the license before downloading. Look for attribution, commercial-use limits, modification rules, redistribution restrictions and any requirement to link back or include a notice.

The file opens with missing fonts or effects
Layered files may depend on fonts, linked images, brushes or software-specific effects. Check the accompanying notes, replace unavailable fonts with properly licensed alternatives and inspect the result at final output size. Do not redistribute third-party fonts or linked assets merely because they arrived inside a design file.

A paid plan can be worthwhile when attribution cannot appear in the medium, when you need a larger set of matching icons, when a required format is restricted, or when your organization needs clearer permissions for repeated client work. That is a workflow and risk decision, not proof that every free asset is inadequate. Compare the paid license with the free asset’s actual terms and confirm whether the plan covers your team, clients and distribution model.
