FP Markets announced a sponsorship partnership with Cricket Brasil on 11 December 2023, expanding the broker’s corporate social responsibility programme into youth education, sports infrastructure and community development in Brazil.
The partnership supports Cricket Brasil’s Youth Development Programme. Its initial priorities were university funding for young project leaders, work on an indoor school and high-performance centre, and the training of local cricket-development officers.
What FP Markets is funding
The announcement did not disclose a sponsorship amount, contract term or a quantified number of beneficiaries. Instead, it described three areas for the initial phase of the partnership:
| Priority | What the announcement says |
|---|---|
| University education | Funding university education for Cricket Brasil project leaders known as the “Black T-shirts” through the Cricket Brasil University Scheme. |
| Facilities | Supporting completion of the Cricket Brasil Indoor School and High Performance Centre in Poços de Caldas, Minas Gerais. |
| Community development | Helping develop local development officers who can expand cricket in communities across Brazil. |
The education element is broader than coaching or athletic development. Cricket Brasil describes the University Scheme as a route into higher education that also promotes the values of Respect, Leadership and Community.

Why the University Scheme matters
Cricket Brasil uses cricket as part of a wider youth-development model. The programme is intended to help children remain in education, access university and develop future opportunities connected with sport and community work.
The “Black T-shirts” are project leaders within the programme. According to the 2023 announcement, supporting their university education should help create a larger group of trained people able to deliver cricket activities and development work locally. That makes the sponsorship less like a one-off sports donation and more like an investment in the organisation’s delivery capacity.
Matt Featherstone, identified in the announcement as President of Cricket Brasil, said the partnership would create more opportunities for young Brazilians to play cricket and join the University Scheme, which trains additional cricket-development officers.
Facilities in Poços de Caldas
One part of the initial commitment concerns the Cricket Brasil Indoor School and High Performance Centre in Poços de Caldas, Minas Gerais. The facility is intended to provide a base for training and development.

It is important to distinguish between planned support and a completed project. The original release said FP Markets would support the completion of the facility. The available sources do not establish that the Indoor School or High Performance Centre was completed as a result of the sponsorship.
The announcement also quoted then-mayor Sergio Azevedo describing Poços de Caldas as the home of Cricket Brasil and saying that more children in the city played cricket than football. That is an attributed claim from the release, not an independently verified participation statistic.
What current information says about Cricket Brasil
Cricket Brasil’s 2025–2028 strategy lists FP Markets among its “Key Partners.” The document says the organisation wants partners whose values align with its work, rather than simply sponsors. This is the clearest current indication in the reviewed sources that the relationship remains recognised by Cricket Brasil.
The strategy also sets continuing targets for the University Programme, including:

Figures published by FP Markets
FP Markets’ current Cricket Brasil CSR page publishes several programme figures. They include:
| Figure | How it should be read |
|---|---|
| 44,469 | Cricket players across Brazil, according to FP Markets; the page compares this with 250 in 2009. |
| 55 | People attending university through Cricket Brasil’s university programme. |
| 15 | Contracted players selected for Brazil’s Women’s National Team. |
| 94% | Share of elite-squad players aged 16–24. |
| 5 | Regional hubs in Poços de Caldas, Botelhos, Aguaí, Santa Luz and Brasília. |

These figures are presented by FP Markets as programme information. The page does not give a reporting date, methodology or independent verification for each number, so they should not be treated as independently audited current statistics.
What the sponsorship means for FP Markets
For FP Markets, the partnership is part of its CSR positioning rather than a product or investment offering. Craig Allison, identified in the 2023 release as FP Markets’ CEO, said the aim was to create a positive and lasting impact on young Brazilians and the local community.

Fara Gorsi, identified as ICC Development Manager for the Americas, said the partnership would support Brazil’s cricket ecosystem and positively affect thousands of young people. That is a forward-looking, attributed statement—not a measured impact result reported after the sponsorship began.
Cricket Brasil’s 2023 audited report referred to FP Markets as an “Official Sponsor.” The report covered the 2023 financial year and said the sponsorship arrived as the organisation was returning to normal activity after pandemic-related reductions in participation. It does not disclose the value of the sponsorship and should not be used to infer post-2023 results.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Terminology and current status
The organisation’s preferred English name is Cricket Brasil, not “Cricket Brazil.” Its current materials also identify it as the Brazilian Cricket Confederation, or CBC.
The 2023 FP Markets release called the organisation an “ICC associate member.” Current ICC material classifies Brazil as an ICC Affiliate Member. The older description can be quoted as historical wording, but “Brazil’s ICC Affiliate Member cricket body” is the more appropriate current description.

The programme figures published by FP Markets should therefore be read as company-reported information rather than independently audited impact data.
