Enterprise Plus has four levels: Plus, Silver, Gold and Platinum. In a calendar year, six qualifying rentals earn Silver; 12–23 rentals or 40–84 qualifying rental days earn Gold; and 24 or more rentals or at least 85 qualifying days earn Platinum. Silver, Gold and Platinum receive one, two and four one-car-class upgrade certificates, respectively. Certificates are usable only on eligible paid rentals at participating locations and only when the requested vehicle is available, so they are not guaranteed upgrades.
The rules below reflect Enterprise’s U.S. English terms and official FAQs checked October 13, 2026. Enterprise says local laws, country terms, rental conditions and participating branches can change the result. Check the terms attached to your country and pickup location before relying on a benefit.

What Enterprise Plus status actually gives you
Enterprise Plus is Enterprise Rent-A-Car’s loyalty program. Everyone starts at the basic Plus level, which covers one through five qualifying rentals in a calendar year. Elite status begins at Silver and adds upgrade certificates and a percentage bonus on qualifying U.S.-dollar rental spend.
| Tier | Qualifying activity in one calendar year | Upgrade certificates per program year | Bonus on qualifying U.S.-dollar spend |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plus | 1–5 qualifying rentals | None stated | None stated |
| Silver | 6–11 qualifying rentals | 1 | 10% |
| Gold | 12–23 qualifying rentals or 40–84 qualifying rental days | 2 | 15% |
| Platinum | 24 or more qualifying rentals or at least 85 qualifying rental days | 4 | 20% |
The thresholds are alternatives, not cumulative requirements. For example, 40 qualifying rental days can earn Gold even if you made fewer than 12 rentals. Platinum can be earned with 85 qualifying days even when the rental count is below 24.
#1 Best Overall
An upgrade certificate moves a reservation up one vehicle class, with the benefit capped at a full-size vehicle. It does not promise a particular model, a luxury category or any vehicle at all. Enterprise’s terms state that rentals remain subject to availability and applicable qualifications and conditions.
How Enterprise counts qualifying activity
Calendar year and return date
Enterprise assigns activity to the calendar year in which the rental return date falls. The qualification year runs from January through December. A rental picked up in December but returned in January is assigned according to its January return date, not its pickup date.
Enterprise adjusts tier status throughout the year as qualifying rentals and days post to the account. Extra hours and partial-day charges do not count as qualifying rental days. A long rental therefore contributes only its qualifying whole days under the program’s rules.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsRental count versus rental-day route
Silver uses the rental-count route: six through 11 qualifying rentals. Gold and Platinum can be reached by either rental count or qualifying days. Count the route that fits your travel pattern before you choose a target.
- Frequent short trips: the rental-count route may reach Gold at 12 rentals or Platinum at 24 rentals.
- Long assignments or vacations: the day route may reach Gold at 40 days or Platinum at 85 days without the corresponding number of separate rentals.
- Mixed travel: track both totals because the first threshold reached can determine the tier.
Activity before and after enrollment
Enterprise’s terms allow qualifying activity completed before enrollment during the enrollment year to count toward the initial tier, provided the rental otherwise qualifies. After enrollment, qualifying reservations need the Enterprise Plus member number associated with them.
Add the member number to every reservation, verify it appears on the rental agreement and review posted activity after the vehicle is returned. Do not assume that a rental will be credited automatically because you used the same email address or payment card.

When benefits begin and end
Because status is adjusted during the year, you can move up as soon as enough qualifying activity posts. The terms say elite benefits continue through February of the year after the qualifying calendar year plus an additional 12 months. Enterprise gives the example of a member who qualifies for Gold on October 1 and receives benefits for 17 months.
Enterprise’s FAQ says status adjustments occur throughout the year. It also refers to annual materials for members who did not maintain their tier, while the terms describe those materials as arriving in early March. Treat the benefit-validity rule—not an exact email or mailing date—as the controlling information.
A step-by-step plan to earn a tier
- Enroll in Enterprise Plus. Create the membership before your next rental so you can attach the member number to the reservation and see activity in one account.
- Choose a qualification target. For Silver, plan on six qualifying rentals. For Gold, compare 12 rentals with 40 days. For Platinum, compare 24 rentals with 85 days.
- Add the member number to each booking. Enter it during online or app booking, and ask the branch to confirm it at pickup.
- Check the return date. A rental straddling December and January may be assigned to a different qualification year than you expect.
- Reconcile your account after return. Confirm that the rental, number of days and qualifying spend have posted. Save the rental agreement and final receipt until the entry is correct.
- Contact Enterprise promptly about omissions. Provide the reservation number, rental agreement, return date and member number when asking for a missing credit. Keep a record of the response.
- Use certificates before they expire. Once a tier is visible, log in and print the available certificate(s) before an eligible paid rental. Availability at the branch still controls whether the upgrade can be honored.
How the upgrade certificates work
Certificate quantities and ceiling
Silver provides one certificate per program year, Gold provides two and Platinum provides four. Each certificate is for a one-car-class upgrade and cannot move a reservation above a full-size vehicle. The terms do not establish a cash value for a certificate.
Conditions that can block an upgrade
| Condition | What it means in practice |
|---|---|
| Paid rental | The certificate is for an eligible paid rental; a free-day redemption or other nonqualifying arrangement may not accept it. |
| Participating location | Not every Enterprise location is necessarily participating. Confirm the branch before booking. |
| Availability | The higher class must be available when the branch processes the certificate. A certificate is not a reservation of inventory. |
| One class only | The certificate raises the vehicle by one class, up to full-size; it does not guarantee a specific make, model or premium category. |
| Counter redemption | The terms direct members to present the printed certificate to a branch representative at the counter. |
These restrictions are why an elite tier should be viewed as an opportunity to request a better vehicle, not as a guaranteed vehicle upgrade. If the branch cannot honor the requested class because inventory is unavailable, the certificate does not create a right to a different model.
Printing and presenting a certificate
- Sign in to your Enterprise Plus account.
- Open the area showing your available upgrade certificates.
- Use the program’s print function and print the certificate; the published terms specifically instruct members to physically print it.
- Bring the printed certificate to the participating branch and present it when the rental is processed.
- Ask the representative which one-class upgrade is available before accepting the vehicle.
If you lose the coupon
Enterprise’s coupon FAQ directs members who misplaced a coupon to the Enterprise Plus Virtual Credentials Site. Sign in there and print the certificate again. The FAQ also lists a phone contact for members who do not have printer access. Instructions can change, so use the current contact and account instructions shown when you sign in.

Getting a status match from another loyalty program
Enterprise may match valid elite status from a selected approved program, but the request is reviewed and approval is not guaranteed. You must show current status in the originating program; a temporary promotion, expired card or unverified claim may not qualify.
Rank #3
Application steps
- Confirm that your current status is active in an approved program.
- Gather evidence showing your name, tier and expiration date. Hide unrelated account numbers or personal details where possible.
- Submit the request through Enterprise’s current status-match site.
- Wait for Enterprise’s review rather than assuming the tier is immediate.
- After approval, sign in to verify the matched tier and the date through which it is valid.
The status-match FAQ says matched status remains valid through February 28 of the second calendar year after approval. To maintain the matched tier, the FAQ lists the normal thresholds during the full calendar year following the match: six rentals for Silver; 12–23 rentals or 40–84 days for Gold; and 24 or more rentals or at least 85 days for Platinum.
| Matched tier | Activity required in the following full calendar year |
|---|---|
| Silver | 6 qualifying rentals |
| Gold | 12–23 qualifying rentals or 40–84 qualifying days |
| Platinum | 24 or more qualifying rentals or at least 85 qualifying days |
A match can therefore be useful when you need benefits before you have accumulated Enterprise rentals, but it is not a substitute for qualifying activity if you want to keep the tier.
Points, spend bonuses and free rental days
How the tier bonus is calculated
Enterprise’s terms state that Silver earns a 10% bonus, Gold 15% and Platinum 20% on qualifying U.S.-dollar spend. “Qualifying” is narrower than the total amount on a receipt. The terms exclude taxes, surcharges, vehicle license fees, airport-related fees, insurance, fuel-purchase options and refueling charges from the bonus calculation.

Redeeming points
Members can redeem points for free rental days at participating locations. Book in advance while signed in through Enterprise’s website or mobile app; the required points appear during the booking flow.
- Point requirements vary by pickup location, vehicle class and rental period.
- Up to seven free rental days may be used on one rental.
- The reward applies to the base rate.
- Taxes, fees, optional upgrades, insurance and other charges can remain payable.
Because the redemption amount changes by itinerary, there is no universal points-to-cash value established by the terms. Compare the points shown for your specific dates and class with the cash base rate, then add the taxes and fees that would still be due.

Expiration and country qualifications
For members residing outside Austria, Denmark, Germany or Spain, the terms state that points expire when membership ends or after 36 consecutive months of inactivity, whichever applies first. The terms also say unused benefits may be forfeited on termination, subject to applicable law and specified exceptions.
Those provisions are country-specific. If your residence or rental market falls under a local modification, read that version before assuming the 36-month inactivity rule or any other expiration policy applies.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which qualification path makes financial sense?
Elite status is most useful when your normal travel already produces the required rentals or days. Creating unnecessary rentals solely to reach a tier can cost more than the certificates and bonus points are worth, especially because the program does not publish a fixed dollar value for either benefit.
If you make occasional short rentals
Silver may be the realistic target at six qualifying rentals. Track whether each booking is paid, attached to your member number and returned within the intended calendar year. One certificate can be useful when a larger vehicle is available, but availability and the one-class ceiling limit its certainty.
If you have regular business travel
Compare 12 rentals with 40 days for Gold and 24 rentals with 85 days for Platinum. A traveler who repeatedly rents for multiweek assignments may reach the day threshold first, while someone taking many one- or two-day trips may reach the rental-count threshold first.

If you are considering a status match
Apply when you already hold valid status elsewhere and have upcoming Enterprise rentals. The match can provide an immediate starting tier after approval, but plan the following full calendar year around the same activity thresholds if you want to retain it.

A simple break-even worksheet
- List the rentals you would make anyway between January and December.
- Mark each rental’s qualifying whole days and return date.
- Identify the earliest tier reached by rental count and by rental days.
- Estimate the value of the applicable certificates only for paid rentals at branches where a higher class is likely to be available.
- Estimate the bonus using qualifying spend, excluding the charges Enterprise excludes.
- Subtract any extra cost created solely to reach the tier. If the result is negative, remain at the lower tier.
Common problems and how to fix them
A rental is missing from the account
Check that the member number was on the reservation and rental agreement, then compare the return date with the activity year. Contact Enterprise with the reservation number and final receipt. Do not count the rental toward a threshold until it posts or Enterprise confirms the correction.
The account shows fewer days than expected
Extra hours and partial-day charges are not qualifying rental days. Recalculate using whole qualifying days under the terms. If the rental agreement shows a different return date or a billing correction, ask Enterprise to review the record.
The certificate does not produce the vehicle you wanted
Confirm that the rental is paid, the branch participates and the requested class is available. The certificate is limited to one class up to full-size and does not guarantee a model or category beyond that limit.

A status-match request is rejected or delayed
Verify that the originating program is approved, the status is still valid and the submitted evidence clearly shows your tier and expiration date. Enterprise reviews requests individually, so submitting proof does not guarantee approval.

Point costs vary by location, vehicle class and rental period. Recheck the signed-in booking details and remember that the redemption covers the base rate, not every charge on the final bill.
