Yes—citizenM participates in Marriott Bonvoy, but eligibility is tied to each hotel’s integration date and to the terms of your reservation. For a qualifying stay, Marriott says members earn 10 Bonvoy points per US dollar and one Elite Night Credit per night. Eligible citizenM properties can also be booked with Bonvoy points, and Platinum Elite members and above receive a choice of welcome benefit. The practical rule is to verify the specific hotel’s participation date before you book or claim credit.
The partnership rolled out in phases in late 2025. Marriott lists citizenM properties on Marriott.com and in the Bonvoy app, while the separate paid mycitizenM+ subscription remains relevant for travelers who want citizenM-specific discounts and perks.

What Marriott Bonvoy participation means at citizenM
Marriott describes citizenM as a participating Bonvoy partner. Members of both programs can earn and redeem points and receive Bonvoy benefits according to their status, subject to the individual property’s joining date and Marriott’s qualifying-stay rules. The official citizenM FAQ says properties are bookable through Marriott.com and the Marriott Bonvoy app.
Participation is not retroactive across the entire brand. Marriott’s schedule groups properties by the date their benefits began:
#1 Best Overall
| Published participation date | How to use the date |
|---|---|
| October 28, 2025 | Only properties listed in Marriott’s first cohort qualify from this date. |
| November 4, 2025 | Properties in the second cohort qualify from this date. |
| November 19, 2025 | Properties in the third cohort qualify from this date. |
Marriott’s participation schedule states that stays must start on or after the listed date to receive full loyalty benefits. Check the hotel’s entry in Marriott’s partner participation schedule rather than assuming every citizenM location joined on the same day.
Marriott says citizenM was founded in 2008 and acquired by Marriott in July 2025. The acquisition explains why the Bonvoy relationship is recent and why property-level start dates matter.
How many Bonvoy points and elite nights you earn
Base points
Marriott’s current citizenM FAQ states an earning rate of 10 Marriott Bonvoy points per US dollar on an eligible stay. In simple terms, the stated rate is:
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Eligible US-dollar spend × 10 = base Bonvoy points.
For example, $200 of eligible spend at the stated rate would produce 2,000 base points. A two-night stay with $200 in qualifying spend would still produce 2,000 base points; the number of nights affects Elite Night Credits, not this simple base-point multiplication. The FAQ does not establish that every dollar on a folio qualifies, so rely on the qualifying-spend rules attached to your reservation and account rather than treating the calculation as a promise about taxes, fees, or unrelated charges.
Elite Night Credit
A qualifying night earns one Elite Night Credit. Thus, a qualifying three-night stay is expected to contribute three credits, while a one-night stay contributes one. Elite Night Credits help determine progress toward Bonvoy elite status; they are not redeemable points and do not have a cash value. A reservation that fails the qualifying-stay or participation-date requirements may not earn the credit.
Adding your Bonvoy number
- Book an eligible citizenM stay through Marriott.com, the Bonvoy app, or another channel that Marriott identifies as qualifying.
- Enter your Marriott Bonvoy number during booking when the field is available.
- If you cannot add it online, ask the hotel to attach the number at check-in, which Marriott specifically says is possible.
- Keep your confirmation and final folio until the points and Elite Night Credit post.
Account details must match closely enough for Marriott to identify the stay. If credit does not appear, use Marriott’s missing-stay process after confirming that the hotel had joined by your stay’s start date. Include the reservation number, exact stay dates, property, and folio details requested by Marriott. A missing-stay claim is a way to correct an otherwise eligible stay; it does not override the hotel’s participation date.
What counts as a useful earnings estimate
Use the published 10-points-per-dollar figure as a planning tool, not as a guaranteed return on every amount charged. Start with the qualifying room or rate amount shown in the reservation information, then check the final folio for the amount Marriott recognizes. Taxes, fees, food and beverage, and other incidental charges may be treated differently under the reservation’s terms, and the citizenM FAQ does not promise that every folio line earns points.

- Ideal for a bookworm
- Compact for travelling
For a quick comparison, a $100 eligible amount implies 1,000 base points, while a $350 eligible amount implies 3,500 base points. Add one Elite Night Credit for each qualifying night in either example. These calculations do not include any separate promotional bonus, and the published citizenM terms do not establish a universal promotion. Check your Bonvoy account and the rate details for any offer attached to your booking.
Can you redeem Bonvoy points at citizenM?
Yes. Marriott says points can be redeemed at eligible citizenM properties. Availability and the number of points required are not fixed in the published FAQ, so check the dates and hotel in Marriott.com or the Bonvoy app before valuing your balance.
Compare an award reservation with the live cash price and the cancellation terms for the same dates:

|---|---|---|
| Cash | Total price, taxes and fees shown at checkout, cancellation deadline, and whether the rate is qualifying. | A citizenM stay can earn points and an Elite Night Credit when it meets Marriott’s eligibility rules. |
| Bonvoy points | Points required, award inventory, cancellation terms, and any restrictions displayed for the rate. | Marriott says eligible citizenM properties accept Bonvoy redemptions; no universal point price is published. |
There is no evidence that cash is always better than points or that an award is always the best use of your balance. Make the decision from the live rate, the points required, and the flexibility you need. If an award rate has a stricter cancellation policy than a cash rate, that difference can matter more than a rough points valuation. Conversely, an award may be attractive when the cash price is high and the dates are firm. Marriott’s booking screen is the place to compare the exact options.
Bonvoy elite benefits at citizenM
Platinum Elite and higher: choose one welcome gift
Marriott’s FAQ documents a choice for members with Platinum Elite status or above: 500 points per stay or a $10 food-and-beverage credit per night. The choice applies to the member plus one guest. Select the option offered for your stay rather than assuming both are granted. Because one option is per stay and the other is per night, the better choice can depend on the length of the visit and whether you will use eligible food and beverage purchases.
The published terms do not promise complimentary breakfast, a lounge, a room upgrade, late checkout, or any other hotel benefit at citizenM. Do not carry assumptions from other Marriott brands into this partnership; use the benefit displayed for your reservation and status. A Platinum-level member should also confirm that the account shows the correct status at booking or check-in, since the welcome choice is tied to the member’s Bonvoy level.
Lower elite tiers and members without status
The documented welcome-gift choice is specifically for Platinum Elite and higher. All members still need to satisfy the property’s participation and reservation rules to earn the stated points and Elite Night Credit. The FAQ does not establish an additional citizenM-specific welcome gift for lower tiers.

mycitizenM+ and Bonvoy are separate memberships
mycitizenM+ is citizenM’s paid subscription; it is not a replacement for Marriott Bonvoy status. Marriott lists the annual price as $170, €150, or £130 for one year. Confirm the localized offer at purchase because the amount and currency depend on where you subscribe.
Rank #3
| Membership | Purpose | Cost or status |
|---|---|---|
| Marriott Bonvoy | Earn and redeem Marriott points and receive benefits tied to Bonvoy status. | Membership program; Marriott’s citizenM FAQ does not state a joining fee. |
| mycitizenM+ | CitizenM subscription with its own discounts and property perks. | $170 / €150 / £130 annually, according to Marriott’s FAQ. |
Linking the accounts
- Sign in to your mycitizenM+ membership dashboard.
- Choose the option to link an existing Marriott Bonvoy account, or create a Bonvoy account if you do not have one.
- Complete the account-linking flow before booking if you want the combined benefits recognized.
- Check that both accounts show the correct email and membership details.
Marriott says an unlinked mycitizenM+ member does not receive discounted membership rates for citizenM stays booked through Marriott.com or the Bonvoy app. The subscription’s listed perks remain usable while the subscription is in good standing, but linking is needed for the combined arrangement described in the FAQ. If you are deciding whether to pay the annual fee, compare the actual discount and coworking, food-and-drink, or meeting-room use you expect with the $170, €150, or £130 cost. The published terms do not provide a universal savings guarantee.
What mycitizenM+ can add
Marriott lists mycitizenM+ benefits that can include coworking, food-and-drink, and meeting-room discounts, with participating-property terms and exceptions. A free-trial arrangement described by Marriott includes Gold Elite status for the remainder of the trial after linking. That temporary status should not be treated as permanent Bonvoy elite status or as an automatic grant of every elite benefit. Review the trial’s end date and the subscription conditions in your dashboard so you know what continues after the trial.
Booking-channel and rate checks
Marriott identifies Marriott.com and the Bonvoy app as booking channels for citizenM properties. Before paying, make sure the property name, dates, rate type, cancellation deadline, and Bonvoy number are visible in the confirmation. A third-party reservation may have different loyalty terms; do not assume that seeing a citizenM hotel in an outside booking site makes the rate eligible.
If you already hold a citizenM reservation made before the integration, do not cancel it solely because the brand moved into Marriott’s systems. Marriott says existing reservations remain active. First check the reservation in Marriott’s tools and compare its terms with any replacement booking. A new reservation could have a different price, cancellation rule, or eligibility status.
Booking and stay-date rules that decide eligibility
Check the hotel’s start date first
The key date is the night your stay starts, not the date you created the reservation. Marriott’s help page says stays must start on or after the individual property’s participation date for full benefits. A booking at a hotel that had not joined when your stay began will not become eligible merely because the reservation later appears in Marriott’s systems.
Earlier reservations can remain valid
Marriott says reservations made before integration remain active. Integration does not automatically cancel an existing booking. Use Marriott’s reservation lookup and service tools to manage it, and confirm whether the rate can earn Bonvoy credit based on the hotel’s joining date and the booking channel.
Past stays and missing credit
The FAQ says a past stay can count only when it occurred after the relevant hotel joined Marriott’s site. If an apparently eligible stay is missing, submit Marriott’s missing-stay request with the confirmation and folio. Do not submit pre-participation stays expecting retroactive credit.

A practical decision process before you book
- Identify the exact property. Two hotels under the same brand can have different participation dates.
- Compare your stay start date with the schedule. The date must be on or after that hotel’s published joining date for full loyalty benefits.
- Choose the booking channel. Marriott.com and the Bonvoy app are the official channels Marriott identifies for citizenM bookings; verify the rate’s eligibility before paying.
- Decide whether to use cash or points. Compare the live total, points requirement, cancellation policy, and your need for Elite Night Credit.
- Add your Bonvoy number. If the online field is unavailable, ask at check-in.
- Review the elite welcome choice. Platinum Elite members and above should select either 500 points per stay or the $10 food-and-beverage credit per night for the member and one guest, where offered.
- Save documentation. Retain the confirmation, folio, and the hotel’s participation-date evidence until credit posts.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
- Assuming one universal launch date: citizenM properties joined in three cohorts. Verify the individual hotel.
- Confusing a reservation date with a stay date: Marriott’s rule is based on when the stay starts.
- Expecting retroactive credit: pre-integration stays are not established as eligible.
- Leaving the Bonvoy number off the reservation: add it during booking or request it at check-in.
- Treating mycitizenM+ as Bonvoy status: it is a separate paid subscription with its own perks.
- Expecting every Marriott elite benefit: the documented citizenM Platinum-and-above choice is limited to the stated points or food-and-beverage options; other benefits are not promised in the FAQ.
- Valuing points without checking availability: redemption inventory and pricing vary by hotel and date.
- Discarding the folio: you may need it for a missing-stay request or invoice question.
- Assuming a linked account fixes an old stay: linking helps recognize the combined memberships but does not change the property’s joining date or make an ineligible rate qualifying.
- Choosing the welcome gift without considering length of stay: compare 500 points per stay with $10 per night and select only the option actually offered.
Examples of how the rules work
A post-integration paid stay
You book a citizenM hotel whose participation date is October 28, 2025, and your stay starts after that date. You attach your Bonvoy number and the stay otherwise qualifies. Marriott’s stated rate is 10 points per eligible US dollar plus one Elite Night Credit for each qualifying night. If you hold Platinum Elite status or higher, you can choose the documented 500-point or $10-per-night food-and-beverage option.
A multi-night stay with a choice of welcome gifts
Suppose the qualifying stay lasts four nights. The stay contributes four Elite Night Credits. If you are Platinum Elite or higher, the documented choices are still 500 points for the stay or $10 per night, which would be $40 across four nights when the credit is available and used under the applicable terms. The FAQ does not say that both choices can be combined.
A pre-integration stay
You stayed at the same hotel before October 28, 2025. The FAQ’s past-stay rule does not establish eligibility because the stay preceded the hotel’s joining date. Submitting a missing-stay request cannot change that timing requirement.
A linked subscription member
You have an active mycitizenM+ subscription and link it to Bonvoy before booking. Marriott says linking is required for the discounted membership rates described for Marriott-channel bookings. You still evaluate the reservation under Bonvoy’s participation and qualifying-stay rules; the subscription does not automatically create every Bonvoy elite benefit.
An existing reservation after integration
You booked before the hotel appeared on Marriott.com, but the stay begins after that property’s published participation date. Marriott says the reservation remains active. Check it through Marriott’s tools, attach your Bonvoy number if possible, and retain the original confirmation so the rate and dates can be verified if credit is delayed.
Troubleshooting a missing posting
- Confirm the hotel and stay start date against Marriott’s three-cohort schedule.
- Check whether the reservation was made through a channel and rate that Marriott treats as qualifying.
- Look for the Bonvoy number on the reservation or ask the property whether it was added at check-in.
- Wait for the normal account posting period shown in your Bonvoy account, then compare the points and Elite Night Credits with the final folio.
- Submit Marriott’s missing-stay request with the confirmation and folio if the stay meets the rules.
- Keep copies of the submission and any response; an invoice question may instead need the citizenM service portal.
Do not inflate a claim by including unrelated charges or by requesting credit for a night before the property’s participation date. The clearest claim identifies the exact property, dates, reservation number, and eligible spend.
What is known—and what is not
The official terms establish the participation relationship, the 10-points-per-dollar earning rate, one Elite Night Credit per qualifying night, redemption at eligible properties, the Platinum-and-above welcome-gift choice, the mycitizenM+ prices, and the phased dates. They do not provide a single award chart, a guaranteed upgrade or breakfast policy, or a promise that every folio charge earns points. They also do not establish that every citizenM rate sold through every channel qualifies. Those details must be checked in the live reservation and property terms.

The Bottom Line
Bottom line: citizenM is part of Marriott Bonvoy, but the hotel and stay start date control eligibility. For a qualifying stay, expect 10 points per eligible US dollar and one Elite Night Credit per night; eligible properties also accept Bonvoy redemptions. Platinum Elite members and higher should choose between 500 points per stay and a $10-per-night food-and-beverage credit. Keep mycitizenM+ separate, link the accounts when you want the combined rates, and verify every reservation in Marriott’s current tools.
