In the third quarter of fiscal 2026, Broadcom reported $16.7 billion of AI semiconductor revenue, up 221% from a year earlier, while total revenue reached $29.591 billion, up 86%. Those figures support a strong growth thesis, but they do not make future returns certain. Broadcom still depends on the timing and volume of a small set of very large customers, outsourced manufacturing capacity, constrained suppliers and an industry that can turn cyclical.
The practical answer for investors is to separate three questions: whether demand for Broadcom’s custom accelerators and networking remains strong, whether the company can deliver enough product, and whether the stock price already discounts that success. Broadcom’s September 2, 2026 results provide evidence for the first question and only guidance—not proof—for the next quarter. Valuation requires current market data and a consistent method.

What the prediction is actually saying
The prediction concerns Broadcom Inc. (NASDAQ: AVGO), not the entire artificial-intelligence industry. The bullish argument is that cloud and other large computing customers are continuing to build AI infrastructure and are buying two key categories from Broadcom: custom AI accelerators and networking products. If that spending cycle lasts, Broadcom could continue adding high-margin semiconductor revenue at a rapid rate.
“Could be just getting started” is a statement about runway, not a promise of a particular share price. Infrastructure programs can expand for years, yet individual orders can be delayed, redesigned or shifted between suppliers. Broadcom’s reported numbers show what happened through the third quarter of fiscal 2026; they do not establish how long the current growth rate will persist.

Broadcom’s latest reported numbers
Broadcom released its fiscal 2026 third-quarter results on September 2, 2026. The company’s reported revenue and its AI-specific semiconductor revenue are the most useful starting points for judging the thesis.
| Measure | Fiscal 2026 Q3 result or outlook | Change or qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Total revenue | $29.591 billion | Up 86% year over year; reported result |
| AI semiconductor revenue | $16.7 billion | Up 221% year over year; reported result |
| AI semiconductor share of Q3 revenue | Approximately 56% | Calculated from $16.7 billion divided by $29.591 billion; rounded |
| Q4 fiscal 2026 revenue outlook | Approximately $34.8 billion | Company guidance, not a realized result |
| Q4 fiscal 2026 non-GAAP operating income | Approximately 66% of projected revenue | Company guidance; roughly $23.0 billion if the $34.8 billion revenue outlook is achieved |
AI semiconductor revenue therefore represented a little more than half of reported third-quarter revenue on the figures above. The 221% growth rate is especially significant because it outpaced the 86% increase in total revenue. That mix shift is the central evidence behind the AI spending thesis.
What is driving the AI semiconductor business
Custom AI accelerators
Broadcom’s disclosed AI category includes custom AI accelerators. These are purpose-built computing components designed for a particular customer’s workloads or system requirements. A custom design can create a substantial program opportunity when a large customer commits to deployment, but it also creates concentration and timing risk: a delay by one customer can affect a meaningful portion of quarterly revenue.

Networking
AI systems require high-speed connections between processors, memory and other servers. Broadcom identifies networking as part of its AI semiconductor revenue, so the company can benefit even when the computing architecture uses a customer-specific accelerator rather than a general-purpose processor. This gives the business more than one way to participate in an AI infrastructure build-out.

Large-program economics
The reported numbers suggest that Broadcom is winning or ramping large programs rather than relying on many small consumer transactions. That can support efficient growth, but it also means the revenue path may be uneven. A customer may place a large order, pause while a design is qualified, then increase volume again. Quarter-to-quarter results can consequently reflect program schedules as much as broad AI enthusiasm.
Why the growth might continue
AI infrastructure spending is still being deployed
The company’s results indicate that customers were still increasing purchases through fiscal 2026 Q3. The next-quarter outlook of approximately $34.8 billion in total revenue implies another sequential increase if achieved. Management also guided to non-GAAP operating income of approximately 66% of projected revenue, indicating that the expected sales mix and operating leverage remained favorable in that outlook.

AI is becoming a larger part of Broadcom
When a faster-growing segment becomes more than half of quarterly revenue, it has a greater effect on the company’s future growth profile. Sustained AI expansion could therefore matter even if Broadcom’s other businesses grow more slowly. Conversely, a slowdown in AI would have an increasingly large effect as that mix rises.
Custom designs can deepen customer relationships
A custom accelerator program generally involves design work, validation and production coordination. Once a program reaches volume, replacing it may require a customer to redesign parts of its system. That can support repeat business, although it does not eliminate competition or guarantee that any one design remains in production.
What could stop the AI ramp
Customer timing and concentration
Broadcom’s risk language highlights the timing and volume of demand from significant customers. A handful of hyperscale or other very large buyers can account for substantial orders. If one customer changes its deployment schedule, reduces an order or chooses a competing design, Broadcom’s quarterly results could be affected disproportionately.

Manufacturing and outsourced supply chains
Strong demand is useful only if Broadcom can manufacture and deliver the products. The company identifies dependence on outsourced manufacturing and supply-chain partners as a risk. Delays in packaging, components, testing or logistics can postpone revenue even when customer demand remains intact.

Limited suppliers
Broadcom also warns that some materials, components and services come from a limited number of suppliers. A bottleneck at one supplier can constrain output or raise costs. Capacity expansion elsewhere in the AI ecosystem does not automatically remove every constraint affecting Broadcom’s products.
Trade restrictions
Trade tensions and export restrictions can change which products may be sold to which customers or regions. Rules can also affect suppliers and manufacturing routes. Because these policies can change quickly, investors should treat geographic and product assumptions as conditional rather than permanent.
Competition and design changes
Broadcom competes for accelerator, networking and related semiconductor programs. Customers may develop more of their own hardware, select another supplier or alter the architecture of an AI system. A strong current order book does not prove that Broadcom will win every future generation.
Semiconductor cyclicality
Broadcom’s filings caution that the semiconductor industry is cyclical and is changing as AI expands. Spending can overshoot near-term usage, inventories can build, and customers can pause after a major installation phase. AI growth can therefore coexist with periods of slower semiconductor revenue.

How to read the Q4 outlook without overclaiming
- Use $34.8 billion as a forecast. It is Broadcom’s approximate fiscal 2026 fourth-quarter revenue guidance, not a reported result.
- Translate the margin statement carefully. “Approximately 66% of projected revenue” refers to non-GAAP operating income. It is not GAAP net income, free cash flow or a guaranteed margin for later quarters.
- Check delivery against demand. If revenue falls short, the cause could be customer timing or supply constraints rather than a complete collapse in AI interest. If revenue exceeds guidance, that still would not establish a permanent 221% growth rate.
- Compare subsequent results with the same definitions. AI semiconductor revenue, total revenue and operating income should be compared on matching fiscal periods and accounting definitions.
What the article’s price target means—and does not mean
The October 5, 2026 24/7 Wall St. article associated with this prediction reported a 12-month target of $423.79, a BUY rating and 90% model confidence. Those figures belong to that publication’s model and market snapshot. They are not Broadcom guidance, a company-endorsed valuation or a guarantee of future performance.
A target becomes stale as the share price, earnings estimates, interest rates and semiconductor multiples change. Anyone using that figure should verify the article’s date, the market price at the time, the earnings period used and the valuation method. The company’s Q3 release alone cannot determine whether the stock is cheap or expensive.
How to evaluate the stock’s valuation yourself
Start with a dated price and a defined earnings measure
Record the share price and the date before calculating a multiple. Decide whether the denominator is trailing earnings, next-12-month earnings, operating income or free cash flow. Mixing a current price with an old earnings estimate can create a precise-looking but misleading result.
Separate growth from multiple expansion
Estimate how much of a potential return would come from higher earnings and how much would require investors to pay a higher multiple. A company can deliver excellent operational growth while its stock return is modest if the valuation multiple contracts.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsStress-test the AI assumptions
- Model a period in which AI semiconductor growth slows materially from the 221% Q3 year-over-year rate.
- Allow for a quarter in which a major customer delays a program.
- Test lower production volumes if a limited supplier or outsourced manufacturer becomes a bottleneck.
- Consider the effect of trade restrictions or a competing design on the affected program.
The purpose is not to predict a single exact outcome. It is to determine whether the investment case still works when the most favorable assumptions are relaxed.

Comparing Broadcom with other AI-chip companies
A comparison with a merchant-GPU supplier, another custom-accelerator provider or a networking-chip company is useful only when the measurements match. Keep these dimensions separate:
- Business exposure: custom accelerators, merchant GPUs, networking or other semiconductor products.
- Reporting period: use the same fiscal quarter or trailing period wherever possible.
- Growth definition: distinguish total-company growth from an AI-specific category.
- Valuation measure and date: use comparable earnings or cash-flow definitions and the same market date.
- Customer concentration: identify how dependent each company is on a small number of buyers.
- Supply capacity: assess manufacturing, packaging and supplier constraints rather than demand alone.
- Execution risk: consider design wins, qualification schedules and the ability to deliver at volume.
Time-sensitive peer valuation and growth snapshots should be refreshed before making a decision. A headline multiple copied from an earlier article can be invalid after a major earnings release or a large share-price move.
A practical bull, base and bear framework
Bull case
AI infrastructure spending remains strong, custom accelerator programs move into higher-volume production, networking demand rises with deployments, and Broadcom secures enough manufacturing capacity to ship on schedule. AI semiconductor revenue continues to grow rapidly and becomes an even larger contributor to total revenue.
Base case
Demand remains healthy but growth moderates from the extraordinary Q3 rate. Large customers stagger deployments, supply constraints create uneven quarters, and competition limits some program wins. Broadcom still grows, but the stock’s outcome depends heavily on the valuation investors assign to that slower rate.
Bear case
Customers delay or reduce AI projects, a major program shifts to another design, trade restrictions limit sales, or suppliers prevent Broadcom from meeting demand. Semiconductor cyclicality then magnifies the slowdown. Revenue and margins could disappoint at the same time that a high valuation multiple contracts.
Questions investors should answer before buying
- What portion of my thesis depends on AI semiconductor growth staying close to the latest reported rate?
- How would my valuation change if the next quarter meets guidance but later growth slows?
- Am I relying on the $423.79 target or BUY rating instead of doing my own valuation work?
- Can I tolerate a sharp decline if customer timing, supply constraints or semiconductor cyclicality cause a weak quarter?
- Have I checked Broadcom’s latest filings and results rather than relying on a dated market snapshot?
Bottom line on the AI spending boom
Broadcom has concrete evidence of a powerful AI business: $16.7 billion of AI semiconductor revenue in fiscal 2026 Q3, 221% year-over-year growth and AI revenue equivalent to roughly 56% of total quarterly revenue. Management’s approximately $34.8 billion Q4 revenue outlook and statement that custom-accelerator and networking demand remains very strong support the possibility of further expansion.
The evidence does not settle the investment decision. Customer concentration, manufacturing dependence, limited suppliers, trade restrictions, competition and semiconductor cycles can all interrupt the ramp. The prediction is therefore best understood as a conditional thesis: Broadcom’s AI opportunity may have substantial runway, but the eventual stock return will depend on execution, the durability of demand and the price investors pay.
