AppleInsider reported a $1,349 Black Friday price for a 14-inch MacBook Pro with Apple’s M5 chip, 16GB of unified memory, and a 512GB SSD on November 27, 2025. The deal was listed through Amazon, not Apple, and the same report later referred to the price as $1,399. Because the promotion was tied to Black Friday 2025, treat it as historical unless a retailer currently confirms the same price at checkout.
The $1,349 MacBook Pro deal
According to AppleInsider’s November 27, 2025 deal report, Amazon listed this configuration at $1,349, a reported $250 reduction from a $1,599 reference price:

- 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU
- 16GB unified memory
- 512GB SSD
- Space Black finish
The linked Amazon product page identifies the product as a 2025 M5 MacBook Pro. However, AppleInsider’s deal table says $1,349 while a later paragraph in the same article says $1,399. Its headline and URL also reference $1,399. The safest description is that $1,349 was the price listed in the report’s headline and deal table, but the lower figure was not consistently stated throughout the source.
This was a retailer promotion, not an Apple Store price cut. Amazon’s listing may now show a different price, seller, condition, or stock status.

The $1,299 M4 may have been the better value
The lowest reported MacBook Pro price in the deal list was actually $1,299 for a 14-inch M4 model with 16GB of memory and a 512GB SSD, sold through B&H. That was $50 less than the reported M5 price and carried a reported $300 saving.
The M5 is newer, so it may be the more appealing choice for buyers prioritizing generation and expected product longevity. But the M4 model used the same basic memory and storage tier and was cheaper. For schoolwork, office applications, coding, browsing, photo work, and moderate creative workloads, the extra $50 for the M5 was not automatically the best use of money.
Compare the exact chip, memory, storage, warranty, and return terms rather than assuming that a newer model is always the better deal.

When the M5 upgrade is worth paying for
The reported $1,599 M5 model with 1TB of storage addressed the biggest weakness of the base configuration: limited disk space. The $1,799 M5 model added both 24GB of memory and a 1TB SSD.
Choose the larger configuration if you regularly work with large photo libraries, video projects, software repositories, virtual machines, or local development environments. The base 512GB SSD can fill quickly once macOS, applications, source files, media, and backups are combined. External storage can reduce the problem, but it adds cost and inconvenience.

For ordinary productivity, browsing, schoolwork, and many coding workloads, 16GB can be adequate. It is less comfortable for multiple virtual machines, complex 3D work, large local AI models, or heavy multitasking. Unified memory is shared by the CPU and GPU, and it cannot be upgraded after purchase.
When an M4 Pro makes more sense than an M5
An M4 Pro configuration may be the stronger purchase for demanding work even though it uses an older chip generation. The reported options included:
- $1,749: M4 Pro with 24GB memory and 512GB storage.
- $1,899: M4 Pro with 24GB memory and 1TB storage.
- $1,999: M4 Pro with 48GB memory and 512GB storage.
- $2,099: M4 Pro configuration with a 14-core CPU and 20-core GPU.
These models are aimed at buyers who compile large projects, run several professional applications, edit high-resolution video, use virtual machines, or perform sustained CPU- and GPU-intensive work. More memory and higher chip-tier resources can matter more in those workloads than the M5 name on a base model.

The deal list also included M4 Max systems, including a 36GB/1TB model at $2,699 and a 128GB/4TB model at $5,299. Those prices were relevant mainly to specialized video, 3D, engineering, and high-memory local computing workloads—not to typical laptop buyers.

The reported entry-level 16-inch deal was $2,189 for an M4 Pro model with 24GB of memory and a 512GB SSD, with a reported $310 saving. A higher-memory 16-inch M4 Pro with 48GB of memory and 1TB of storage was listed at $2,699.

The 16-inch chassis provides more screen area for timelines, code, spreadsheets, and professional applications. The trade-offs are a higher price and less portability. Choose it when the larger display is central to your work; otherwise, a 14-inch model may provide a better balance for commuting, classrooms, and travel.

How to avoid buying the wrong configuration
Retail listings can place similar-looking M4, M4 Pro, and M5 products next to one another. Before paying, check:
- Chip: Confirm M5, M4, M4 Pro, or M4 Max—not just “MacBook Pro.”
- Memory: Verify whether the listing has 16GB, 24GB, 36GB, 48GB, or 128GB.
- Storage: Confirm 512GB, 1TB, or 4TB. Do not infer storage from the product photo.
- Condition: Make sure it is new rather than refurbished, used, or open-box.
- Seller: On Amazon, identify the seller of record and review the applicable warranty and return terms.
- Checkout price: Select the exact color and configuration and confirm the final price, tax, shipping, and any membership requirement.
- Availability: Check the delivery date and whether the product is actually in stock.
- Geography: Confirm that it is a U.S. model with the expected keyboard layout and warranty coverage.
B&H’s reported promotions also demonstrated why shoppers should read the activation instructions: AppleInsider said at least one $1,499 deal had to be activated through B&H’s desktop or mobile website and was unavailable in the B&H app. The B&H MacBook Pro category is a buying destination, not permanent proof that the 2025 deal remains available.

- Best reported newer-generation deal: The 14-inch M5 at $1,349, if that price was genuinely available at checkout.
- Lowest reported price: The 14-inch M4 at $1,299.
- Best reported M5 upgrade: The 24GB/1TB model at $1,799 for buyers needing more memory and storage.
- Best professional step-up: An M4 Pro model, particularly the 48GB configuration at $1,999, for sustained demanding workloads.
- Best large-screen choice: A 16-inch M4 Pro, if display area matters more than portability.
The original $1,349 promotion was a historical Black Friday 2025 report. Check Apple’s official buying page, Amazon, or B&H’s MacBook Pro listings for current pricing, but do not assume that the reported deal is still active. The right choice depends on whether your priority is the newest base chip, the lowest purchase price, additional memory and storage, or sustained professional performance.
