DigiCert, GlobalSign, and SSL.com are the three Mark Verifying Authorities (MVAs) listed in the BIMI Group’s current issuer directory. None is a universal winner: the mailbox providers used by your recipients decide which issuers and certificate types they trust. Choose by your mark’s eligibility, target-inbox acceptance, validation workload, current commercial terms, and renewal support—not by the directory listing alone.
The BIMI Group directory is a shortlist, not a ranking. It does not establish that every listed issuer will be accepted by every mailbox provider, and the official material reviewed does not publish an apples-to-apples price, turnaround, or performance table.

Directory presence means an issuer can participate in the Mark Certificate ecosystem; it does not mean that a particular inbox will display your logo. The BIMI Group says mailbox providers independently choose which issuers’ certificates they accept. Check the current issuer directory and the policies of the mailbox services that matter to your audience before ordering.
#1 Best Overall
The BIMI Group also states: “The BIMIGroup does not certify MVAs but provides technical specifications and requirements for Mark Certificate issuance.” The issuer performs the validation and issues the certificate; the receiving mailbox provider makes its own trust and display decision.
What the directory can—and cannot—tell you
The directory answers one narrow question: which organizations are currently listed as issuers in the BIMI ecosystem. It does not rank DigiCert, GlobalSign, or SSL.com by price, approval speed, support quality, geographic coverage, or inbox visibility. No comparable provider performance statistics or adoption figure are published in the official material available for this comparison.
That distinction matters when a vendor page uses a directory listing as if it were an endorsement. Treat all three as candidates, then verify the details that affect your own deployment. A certificate may be technically valid yet ignored by a recipient’s mailbox provider, while a provider may change its acceptance policy after you have purchased. Record the date of every acceptance check and recheck it at renewal.

Because the official sources do not provide comparable prices, delivery times, or provider performance statistics, a useful comparison is a procurement checklist. Ask each issuer the same questions and record answers for your specific domain, mark, and recipient mix.
1. Mark and certificate eligibility
Start with the mark itself. A Verified Mark Certificate (VMC) follows the established route for a registered trademark or a qualifying government mark that meets the applicable validation rules. A Common Mark Certificate (CMC) can cover qualifying prior-use marks and certain modified registered marks that may not qualify as a conventional registered trademark. The exact evidence rules are issuer- and jurisdiction-dependent, so have the issuer confirm in writing which path applies before you pay.
The BIMI Group distinguishes self-asserted BIMI logos, CMCs, and VMCs. Those categories are not interchangeable: a mark that can be published without a certificate may still need a CMC or VMC for mailbox providers that require trusted evidence. Ask the issuer to identify the certificate category, if any, that matches your logo and your target inboxes.
The BIMI Group’s explanations of certificate categories are in its MVA FAQ and certificate-type guide. Ask whether the issuer will accept:
Recommended Free Tools
- Your exact word mark, logo, or combined mark, rather than a similar corporate asset.
- The trademark office or government register where the mark is recorded.
- Evidence of qualifying prior use if you are pursuing a CMC.
- Any modified, stylized, or updated version of a registered mark.
- All domains and organizational details that must appear in the validation file.
Do not assume that a mark accepted for one certificate type can be moved to the other without a new review. A refreshed logo, a changed legal entity, or a different domain can alter eligibility.
2. Acceptance in your target inboxes
List the mailbox providers used by your customers, employees, and subscribers, then ask each issuer which of those providers currently accepts its certificate and type. Acceptance can differ by provider, geography, certificate class, and policy revision. A certificate that works in one recipient’s inbox can be ignored in another.

Ask for the answer in writing and name the exact From domains you will use. If you send from both a parent domain and subdomains, confirm whether each needs its own BIMI record, certificate reference, or validation treatment. Also ask whether the provider expects a particular evidence-document format or header behavior.
Apple’s requirements illustrate the dependency. For a logo to appear in Apple Mail, the email provider must support BIMI, check message and domain compliance, verify an evidence document trusted by that provider, and add the required headers. Apple describes this as a provider-side process in its BIMI support guidance; buying a certificate does not by itself activate a logo in Apple Mail.
3. Validation evidence and support
Ask for a complete list of organization, domain, trademark, ownership, and prior-use documents before starting. Clarify who checks each item, how discrepancies are handled, and whether the issuer provides a named support route during validation. Confirm whether the quote includes review of the logo asset and the evidence document or charges separately for additional validation work.
Independent logo and domain validation is part of the certificate process. A fast domain setup cannot compensate for an ineligible mark or incomplete evidence. Establish who can authorize corrections if the legal name in your trademark record differs from the company name in your sending infrastructure.
Request a written description of the issuance stages: document submission, identity checks, mark review, domain checks, certificate delivery, and any post-issuance corrections. You do not need a promised turnaround number to compare vendors, but you do need to know what can pause the process and who will notify you.
4. Commercial terms
The official BIMI material reviewed does not publish a comparable price table for DigiCert, GlobalSign, and SSL.com. The BIMI Group says cost varies by issuer and validation factors. Request a written quote that identifies:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Certificate type (VMC or CMC) and validity period.
- Number of marks, domains, and organizational entities covered.
- Initial validation, revalidation, and any additional-document fees.
- Renewal pricing and the date on which renewal work must begin.
- Support included for DNS, SVG, evidence-file, and display troubleshooting.
- Any charges for changing a mark, domain, or organizational name.
Ask whether the quote is for one certificate or a broader portfolio. A company with several brands may need separate validation decisions even when the domains share the same infrastructure. Confirm whether adding a domain later triggers a new review or a certificate change.
Do not compare a headline price from one issuer with an all-in quote from another. Put one-time and recurring charges in separate columns, note the currency and tax treatment, and ask what happens if validation is unsuccessful. There is no published apples-to-apples price or turnaround table, so a lower advertised amount is not evidence of lower total cost.
5. Renewal and revocation handling
Ask how renewal is initiated, what evidence must be refreshed, and how long a revalidation normally takes. Also ask how revocation information is published and checked. The BIMI certificate ecosystem includes revocation lists and audit artifacts, so your operational plan should include ownership of those notices and an escalation contact.

Assign a mailbox and person responsible for expiry notices, and keep copies of the submitted mark evidence, certificate reference, BIMI DNS record, SVG, and evidence URL. If your brand or legal entity changes, contact the issuer before changing the production logo. A simple DNS edit may not be sufficient when the certificate no longer describes the published mark.

|---|---|---|
| VMC | Registered trademark or qualifying government mark that meets the validation rules | Is the mark registered in an accepted jurisdiction? Does the exact logo version match the registration? Which target inboxes trust this issuer and VMC? |
| CMC | Qualifying prior-use marks and certain modified registered marks that may not be registered trademarks | What prior-use evidence is required? Is the modified mark eligible? Which target inboxes support this CMC and what visual treatment do they provide? |
The BIMI Group cautions that certificate-type display distinctions vary by mailbox provider and does not prescribe a universal visual treatment. Therefore, do not promise a particular checkmark, logo placement, or other indicator solely because you selected a VMC or CMC. Confirm the expected result with the mailbox providers relevant to your recipients and test with representative accounts.
If your mark is not registered, do not assume a CMC is automatic. “Prior use” and “modified registered mark” are validation categories, not guarantees of approval. Have the issuer review the precise artwork and documentation before committing to a launch date.
How BIMI works after you buy a certificate
A Mark Certificate is one component of a chain that connects an authenticated message to a validated logo. The BIMI Group describes publishing a BIMI TXT record under a selector such as default._bimi.example.com. That record points to an SVG logo and can reference a Mark Certificate. The sending domain must also satisfy DMARC alignment requirements for a supporting mailbox provider to consider displaying the logo.
- Authenticate the sending domain. Configure SPF and DKIM for every legitimate sending service and publish a DMARC policy with alignment that meets the requirements of the mailbox providers you target.
- Prepare the logo asset. Use an SVG that meets the current BIMI profile and host it at a stable, publicly retrievable HTTPS location.
- Complete mark validation. Submit the organization, domain, trademark or prior-use evidence requested by the issuer. Resolve discrepancies before issuance.
- Obtain the Mark Certificate and evidence document. Confirm that the certificate reference and evidence URL supplied by the issuer match your domain and logo.
- Publish the BIMI record. Create the selector record (for example,
default._bimi.example.com) with the logo location and, where required, the certificate or evidence reference. - Send a controlled test. Test from the exact From domain through the production sending path to representative accounts at each target mailbox provider.
- Monitor changes. Keep DNS, the SVG, certificate status, and sending configuration stable, and watch for provider policy or caching delays.
A certificate alone cannot force a logo to appear. The mailbox provider may require a valid BIMI record, retrievable logo and evidence files, DMARC alignment, trusted certificate evidence, required headers, and acceptable sender reputation. Provider-side caching can delay a change even after DNS and certificate data are correct.
Apple Mail and other provider-specific checks
Apple’s official documentation says the email provider—not the Apple Mail app alone—must support BIMI, verify message and domain compliance, verify an evidence document trusted by that provider, and add the required headers. That means a sender can have a valid certificate and still see no logo if the recipient’s provider has not implemented the necessary checks.
Apply the same discipline to other inboxes: identify the provider, read its current BIMI policy, and test the exact certificate type and issuer you plan to use. The BIMI Group directory is not a substitute for those provider-specific acceptance rules. Maintain a small test matrix with each provider, certificate type, From domain, and date tested so a policy change is easier to spot.
Validity, current requirements, and renewal planning
The BIMI Group FAQ lists 398 days as the current maximum validity for a BIMI Mark Certificate. Treat that as a maximum, not as a promise that every issuer will issue the same term. Put renewal work on a calendar well before expiration because revalidation, trademark evidence, DNS changes, and provider caching can each add time.
A certificate with less than 398 days of validity may still be the issuer’s current product term. Compare the actual start and end dates in each quote, and ensure the person responsible for renewal can access the account and supporting evidence. Avoid scheduling a brand launch for the same week as certificate expiration.
Rank #4
The BIMI Group’s supporting-documents index lists its current Minimum Security Requirements for Issuance of Mark Certificates as dated June 11, 2026. Requirements can change, so review the latest supporting documents and the issuer’s requirements page when buying or renewing.
Common procurement mistakes
- Treating the directory as an endorsement. Listing confirms participation, not universal inbox acceptance.
- Buying before checking the mark. A redesigned or unregistered logo may require a different certificate path or additional evidence.
- Comparing only the first-year quote. Validation, renewal, extra domains, support, and changes can affect the maintainable cost.
- Testing only one mailbox. Display is provider-dependent, so one successful inbox does not represent your whole audience.
- Ignoring hosting. A private, blocked, redirected, or unstable SVG or evidence URL can prevent retrieval.
- Changing DNS repeatedly. Caching can mask a fix; verify the underlying record and allow time for provider refreshes.
“I’m not seeing my logos”: troubleshooting branches
Use this order so that a certificate purchase does not distract you from a DNS or authentication error.
1. Confirm the recipient provider supports BIMI
Check whether the affected mailbox provider supports BIMI and accepts your issuer and certificate type. If one provider displays the logo and another does not, the difference may be policy or trust rather than your DNS.
2. Check DMARC alignment
Verify that the visible From domain aligns with the authenticated SPF and/or DKIM domain and that your DMARC policy meets the provider’s requirement. Forwarding services, third-party senders, and subdomain changes commonly break alignment.
3. Validate the BIMI TXT record
Query the exact selector host, such as default._bimi.example.com. Confirm that the record is published at the intended domain, has no syntax error, and points to publicly retrievable HTTPS assets. Check for stale DNS answers while changes propagate.
4. Retrieve the SVG and evidence document externally
Open both URLs from outside your corporate network. A firewall, authentication requirement, redirect chain, expired certificate, or incorrect content type can prevent a mailbox provider from retrieving the files.
5. Check certificate and mark consistency
Make sure the certificate references the same organization, domain, and logo that you publish. A redesigned logo or changed legal entity can require revalidation rather than a simple DNS edit.
6. Allow for caching and reputation
The BIMI Group notes that provider-side caching, sender reputation, and asset retrievability can delay or prevent display. Retest with a fresh message after correcting the underlying issue instead of repeatedly changing the record.

Use this sequence to select among DigiCert, GlobalSign, and SSL.com without treating the directory as a ranking:
Best Value
- It can be a gift option
- Comes with secure packaging
- Helpful in various ways
- Write down the domains, subdomains, sending platforms, and mailbox providers that represent your real audience.
- Have each issuer classify your mark as a VMC or CMC candidate and list every required document.
- Ask each issuer to confirm acceptance by your target mailbox providers for that certificate type.
- Request an itemized quote covering issuance, validation, renewal, extra marks or domains, and support.
- Compare the operational path: who owns DNS, who hosts the SVG and evidence file, who receives expiry notices, and who handles revocation or provider disputes.
- Run a controlled pilot in representative inboxes before making a company-wide logo claim.
The best provider is the one that can validate your specific mark, is trusted by the inboxes your audience uses, offers terms you can maintain, and gives you a workable renewal and troubleshooting process. If an issuer cannot answer those questions precisely, a lower quoted price does not make it the safer choice.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the cost of a VMC or CMC?
The BIMI Group does not publish a comparable price table for DigiCert, GlobalSign, and SSL.com. Cost varies by issuer and validation factors. Request an itemized quote covering certificate type, validity, marks, domains, initial validation, revalidation, renewal, changes, and support.
How does BIMI work?
You authenticate the sending domain with SPF, DKIM, and DMARC, host a compliant SVG logo, complete mark validation, obtain any required Mark Certificate and evidence document, and publish a BIMI TXT record such as default._bimi.example.com. The receiving mailbox provider then performs its own trust and display checks.

Does buying a Mark Certificate guarantee a logo in every inbox?
No. Mailbox providers independently decide which issuers and certificate types they trust. Display also depends on DMARC alignment, a valid BIMI record, retrievable logo and evidence files, provider implementation, caching, and sender reputation.
Should I choose a VMC or a CMC?
A VMC is generally the route for a registered trademark or qualifying government mark that meets validation rules. A CMC can cover qualifying prior-use marks and certain modified registered marks. Ask the issuer to confirm eligibility for your exact artwork and documents.
Which BIMI provider is best: DigiCert, GlobalSign, or SSL.com?
There is no universal winner in the official material. Choose the issuer that can validate your mark, is accepted by the mailbox providers used by your audience, offers workable current terms, and provides a renewal and support process you can operate.
How long is a BIMI Mark Certificate valid?
The BIMI Group FAQ lists 398 days as the current maximum validity. Your issuer may offer a different term, so compare the actual certificate dates and schedule renewal well before expiration.

Can I use the same certificate for a redesigned logo?
Do not assume so. If the published mark, organization, or domain changes, contact the issuer. Revalidation or a new certificate may be required rather than a DNS-only update.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: DigiCert, GlobalSign, and SSL.com are the current directory-listed BIMI authorities, not a ranked winner’s list. Select one only after confirming VMC or CMC eligibility, acceptance in your target inboxes, complete validation requirements, itemized current terms, and a renewal and troubleshooting process your team can maintain.
