Marvel Unlimited is scheduled to sunset on December 7, 2026. Marvel’s announced replacement, Marvel Comics powered by WEBTOON, is scheduled to launch on November 16, 2026. Marvel says members will be able to import their Marvel Unlimited library and reading history, although detailed transfer instructions have not been published yet.
For most subscribers, the replacement is the first service to check. Hoopla can provide library-borrowed Marvel collections if your public library participates. The Kindle Store is useful for buying specific issues or volumes, while Kindle Unlimited offers only a changing selection of comics and is not established as a complete Marvel Unlimited substitute.

What happens to Marvel Unlimited?
Marvel’s official notice says, “Marvel Unlimited will sunset as of 12/7/2026.” The current Marvel Unlimited page still describes a catalog of more than 30,000 comics, but that figure belongs to the service that is being retired, not to the successor’s confirmed catalog. You should therefore treat the shutdown and the replacement as a transition rather than assume that every existing feature will carry over unchanged.
Marvel says the new Marvel Comics app will launch on November 16, 2026, and that current members will be able to import their existing library and reading history. The company has not yet published the step-by-step transfer process, supported platforms, or final terms for every plan. Keep your account credentials and subscription details available, and watch the official notice for instructions as launch approaches: Marvel’s transition announcement.

Marvel Comics powered by WEBTOON: the planned replacement
Marvel’s successor is the only option in this guide designed as a direct continuation of Marvel’s own digital reading service. The Marvel Comics powered by WEBTOON page currently advertises an Ultimate Annual plan for $59.99 and says new comics arrive 30 days after print release. Those are advertised details observed October 13, 2026, not a guarantee that the live offer, price or release schedule will be identical after the November launch.

Marvel’s notice specifically says members will be able to import their existing Marvel Unlimited library and reading history into the Marvel Comics app. That promise matters if you use saved titles, completed-reading markers or a long reading queue. It does not yet explain whether every bookmark, downloaded file, account setting or subscription date will transfer. Until Marvel publishes the workflow, regard “library and reading history” as the confirmed scope and do not assume additional data will migrate.

What the advertised release window means
The successor page’s “30 days after print release” language describes the advertised timing for new comics in the Ultimate Annual offer. It is not the same as same-day digital publication, and it does not establish how quickly older issues or collections will be added. Readers following a newly released series should plan around a one-month delay unless the live service states otherwise.
How to prepare for launch
- Sign in to your existing Marvel account and confirm that your saved library and reading history are visible before the sunset date.
- Save a personal list of series, volumes and one-shot issues that matter most to you. A list is useful even if the import works, because it lets you check the new app for missing items.
- Keep the email address associated with your account accessible. Marvel may require an account-linking or verification step when the new app opens.
- When the app launches on November 16, follow Marvel’s transfer instructions rather than creating an unrelated new account.
- Open several saved titles and compare your reading history after migration. Report missing items through Marvel’s support channel before the December 7 sunset.
Do not cancel early solely because the successor has been announced. Check your billing date and the live migration instructions first; an early cancellation could affect access during the transition, while leaving an unwanted renewal active could create an avoidable charge.
Hoopla: a library-card route to Marvel collections
Hoopla’s comics catalog lists Marvel Entertainment, and its Marvel Masterworks collection page shows representative collected editions. Hoopla is therefore a genuine Marvel option, but it works as a digital library loan rather than as a personal subscription archive.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteHow access works
- Check whether your public library or library system participates in Hoopla.
- Use your library card and local account credentials to sign in.
- Search your library’s Hoopla catalog for the exact character, series, volume or “Marvel Masterworks” collection you want.
- Borrow an available item and choose online reading or downloading when your library’s rules and the title support those functions.
- Note the loan period and any monthly borrowing limit shown by your library before building a reading plan.
Hoopla’s national catalog page cannot guarantee that your local library licenses the same titles. Two libraries can offer different Marvel selections, lending periods or monthly limits. Search locally before assuming that a particular issue, volume or classic run is available.
Rank #3
When Hoopla is financially useful
Hoopla can be the lowest-cost option when it is included with a library membership you already use, because you borrow rather than buy each volume. The trade-off is control: a loan can expire, popular items may be subject to local limits, and the service is not a replacement for a permanent collection. Use it for planned reading and reserve purchases for books you expect to revisit.
Kindle Store: buy the issues and volumes you actually want
Amazon’s Kindle page describes a digital store where readers can browse and buy comics, then read them through Kindle apps or compatible Kindle devices. This is a purchase model, so it can complement a subscription without requiring you to keep paying for a broad catalog.
Best use cases
- Buying a specific collected edition that is absent from your library’s Hoopla catalog.
- Keeping a favorite story available after a subscription ends.
- Building a focused digital collection instead of paying for access to thousands of titles you will not read.
- Filling a gap when the successor’s release schedule does not suit a newly printed series.
Checks to make before buying
- Confirm that the product is the exact volume, issue range and edition you intended to purchase.
- Check the product page for your country, because rights and availability can differ by region.
- Review whether the item is a single issue, a collected volume or a bundle; prices and page counts are not directly comparable.
- Verify that the reading app or device you plan to use supports the title’s panel and image layout.
The Kindle Store does not establish an unlimited Marvel archive equivalent to Marvel Unlimited. Treat each listing as an individual purchase decision, and compare the total cost of several volumes with the annual price of a service you would genuinely use.

Kindle Unlimited: a changing subscription catalog
Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited support page says the subscription includes comics along with other content. The available selection changes, and borrowing limits and country eligibility apply. The cited information does not establish that particular Marvel issues—or the breadth of the former Marvel Unlimited catalog—are included.
Rank #4
How to evaluate a title
- Open the current Kindle Unlimited catalog for your country.
- Search for the exact comic, volume and edition you want.
- Look for the Kindle Unlimited inclusion badge on the current product page.
- Check how many titles you can borrow at once and whether the item can be read on your preferred device.
- Recheck the catalog before starting a long series; inclusion can change.
Kindle Unlimited makes sense when you already pay for it or when its current catalog contains several titles you plan to read immediately. Starting a subscription solely because a search result mentions comics is risky: the selection may not include your target series, and a changing catalog can remove the title later.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to choose after the shutdown
Choose the successor when continuity matters most
Pick Marvel Comics powered by WEBTOON first if your priority is keeping a Marvel-specific library and reading history. Marvel’s stated import plan gives it a continuity advantage that the other services do not claim. Wait for the live app and verify the imported data before making a permanent replacement plan.
Choose Hoopla when your library has the books you need
Hoopla is the strongest budget choice for readers with a participating library and a list of collected editions that the local catalog actually carries. It is particularly suitable for reading a finite run without buying every volume. It is less suitable if you need a complete chronology, indefinite ownership or access to every issue.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Choose the Kindle Store for ownership of selected books
Use individual Kindle purchases when you can name the volumes you want and expect to reread them. This approach avoids paying for an entire archive, but the cost grows with every volume and the catalog is not guaranteed to match Marvel Unlimited.
Best Value
- It can be a gift option
- Comes with secure packaging
- Helpful in various ways
Choose Kindle Unlimited only after checking the current catalog
Kindle Unlimited is a conditional option, not a default replacement. It can be economical for an existing subscriber who finds multiple desired comics with inclusion badges. It is a poor fit when your reading plan depends on specific Marvel issues that are not currently listed.
Use a two-service strategy when no single option fits
A practical combination can be the successor for ongoing Marvel reading, Hoopla for library-borrowed classics and the Kindle Store for permanent ownership of favorites. Compare the actual monthly or annual charges you would incur, the number of books you read and the inconvenience of switching apps. Do not subscribe to all three merely to recreate a catalog that no source confirms exists outside Marvel’s own service.
Budget and billing decisions during the transition
The successor page currently advertises a $59.99 Ultimate Annual plan. Divide that advertised amount by 12 only as a budgeting estimate; the annual price is not a promise about renewal pricing, taxes, regional currency or the final live offer. Confirm those details on the checkout screen after launch.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Audit your Marvel Unlimited renewal date. If it falls before December 7, determine whether the subscription would renew for a period that extends beyond the sunset.
- Keep records of charges and receipts. Save confirmation emails so you can identify an unexpected renewal or request support during the migration.
- Price the reading you actually do. A library loan may cost nothing beyond your existing library membership, while buying a handful of Kindle volumes may be cheaper than a year of subscription access.
- Include regional taxes and currency conversion. The advertised $59.99 figure is a service-page price observed October 13, 2026, not a universal final amount.
- Reassess after the app launches. Catalog size, platform availability, transfer success and final plan terms are the variables most likely to affect your budget.
Regional, platform and catalog caveats
Digital rights are territorial. The sources establish neither worldwide availability for the successor nor identical Marvel selections on Hoopla and Kindle. Your country can affect whether a service is offered, which issues are licensed, the currency and taxes shown at checkout, and whether a library participates.
Library access is especially local: the Hoopla pages demonstrate that Marvel material exists on the platform, not that every library provides it. Kindle’s pages describe the store and subscription, not a fixed Marvel inventory. Search while signed into your regional account and check the exact product page before relying on any title for a reading schedule.
A transition checklist for Marvel readers
- Before November 16: review your Marvel Unlimited library, note must-read series and confirm your account email.
- On November 16: install or open the new Marvel Comics app, use the official import path and record any titles or history that do not appear.
- Before December 7: download or finish time-sensitive reading permitted by your current terms, and verify the date and status of any pending renewal.
- If a title is missing: search your local Hoopla catalog, then check the Kindle Store for a specific issue or volume.
- If considering Kindle Unlimited: confirm the inclusion badge for every planned title and review borrowing limits before subscribing.
- After migration: compare the new app’s catalog and release timing with your reading needs, then cancel overlapping services you do not use.
The practical choice
There is no verified one-for-one replacement outside Marvel’s announced successor. Start with Marvel Comics powered by WEBTOON because it is the only option promising to import your Marvel Unlimited library and reading history. Use Hoopla when your participating library has the collections you want, buy selected volumes through the Kindle Store when permanent access matters, and treat Kindle Unlimited as a title-by-title supplement. Recheck the successor’s live price, catalog, transfer results and regional availability after November 16, before deciding what should replace your old subscription permanently.
