What Fakturia does

Fakturia automates subscription contracts, recurring billing, payments, dunning and order-to-cash workflows. It can renew, upgrade, downgrade and cancel contracts, then create and email recurring invoices when they are due.

Recurring payments can be collected by SEPA direct debit or card through Adyen, Unzer, Stripe or Braintree. Stripe also supports PayPal, according to Fakturia’s provider list.

Fees and plans

The Professional plan costs €139 a month. It includes 500 active customer contracts, three users, 7,500 API calls a month and premium support. Each additional contract costs €0.15 a month, and each extra user costs €5 a month. There is no net-revenue fee.

Enterprise is price on request. It includes contracts as needed, unlimited users, private-cloud hosting, database access, a DATEV interface, collective invoices, unlimited API calls a month and premium support. It also has no net-revenue fee.

FLEX one is listed as €1.90 a month, with billing described as a 1.9% monthly net-revenue fee and a €0 monthly base fee. It includes unlimited customer contracts, three users, 7,500 API calls a month and standard support. Extra users cost €25 a month.

FLEX two is listed as €2.40 a month, with billing described as a 2.4% monthly net-revenue fee and a €0 monthly base fee. It includes unlimited contracts, three users, 7,500 API calls a month, VAT-ID checks, PRAP, cost centers, a DATEV interface and collective invoices. Extra users cost €25 a month.

Premium onboarding costs €1200 one time for sandbox setup and moving settings to production. A free trial is available, but there is no free plan. Non-Enterprise plans limit monthly API requests; additional calls are billed at the tariff rate once the quota is exceeded.

Where it runs

Fakturia is provider-operated SaaS software accessed over the internet. The listed platforms are web and API, not a customer-installed computer program.

Its REST API uses HTTPS and JSON and has production and sandbox endpoints. API access needs an enabled plan, project activation, an API key and, optionally, IP allowlisting. Requests use an api-key header. Webhooks can report payments, dunning, cancellations and plan changes to customer systems.

The provider describes language-independent HTTP/JSON integration for PHP, Node.js, Python, Java and Go, but does not list official language SDK packages. No iPhone or Android app is listed.

Protection and rules, as published

Fakturia says it runs on German servers, uses TÜV- or ISO-certified hosting providers and performs daily external backups. It says optional two-factor authentication is available.

The provider says Enterprise can run in a private cloud on Fakturia infrastructure with direct database access. Ordinary plans use shared hosting. Its terms describe Fakturia as the provider of the SaaS and cloud software during the contract.

The published facts do not state a banking licence, regulator, deposit protection or a specific dispute-handling process.

Strengths

The platform combines contract changes, recurring invoices, payment collection and dunning in one workflow. It supports multilingual templates, multiple currencies and customized invoice layouts.

Accounting features include DATEV export, PRAP accruals, country tax rates, MOSS/OSS and BZSt VAT-ID checks. Outgoing invoices can be produced as ZUGFeRD and XRechnung documents.

A white-label customer portal lets customers view contracts and invoices, manage payment details and cancel contracts. Usage-based, tiered, staircase and revenue-share pricing can be implemented through the REST API when the customer system performs the calculation.

Catches and limits

Fakturia cannot receive or process incoming e-invoices, according to its FAQ; its e-invoice coverage is for outgoing invoices. The Zapier connector is in closed beta and needs an invitation link.

API quotas apply on non-Enterprise plans, with extra calls charged at the tariff rate. FLEX plans combine a published monthly figure with a percentage of monthly net revenue, so the billing basis needs checking before signup.

Independent reviewers have reported that some functions are hard to find, the interface can feel dated and unsaved changes may be lost. Some also describe documentation as thin or not fully current, and one review mentions occasional errors later resolved by support.

Who should skip Fakturia

Fakturia may not fit a business that needs incoming e-invoice processing, a listed phone app or no-code Zapier access without an invitation. It may also be a poor match where shared hosting is not acceptable and Enterprise private-cloud terms are outside scope.

Verdict

Fakturia suits organizations that need German-oriented subscription administration, recurring invoices, payment collection, dunning and accounting exports through a web service and API. Its plans cover fixed monthly pricing, private-cloud Enterprise arrangements and FLEX pricing tied to net revenue.

It is less suited to teams requiring incoming e-invoice handling, a mobile app, unlimited API calls outside Enterprise or a simple fixed price without a revenue-linked component. The provider’s published security and hosting details are specific, while licence, deposit-protection and dispute-process statements are not provided in these facts.
