Apple’s student discount is not a coupon code. In the U.S., it is Education Pricing: a reduced price shown through Apple’s Education Store after you verify that you qualify.
For eligible Mac and iPad buyers, Apple is also running a 2026 back-to-school promotion from July 16 through August 27, 2026. That offer provides an Apple Gift Card rather than an immediate cash reduction, so compare the final checkout cost and the gift card’s usefulness before you buy.
Who qualifies for Apple Education Pricing?
Apple’s current U.S. Education Terms list these eligible buyers:
- Students currently attending, or accepted into, a U.S. or Puerto Rico college or university
- Faculty and staff of higher-education institutions
- Parents buying for an eligible college or university student
- Employees of public or private K–12 schools, including homeschool teachers
- Currently serving elected or appointed school-board members
- Currently serving elected or appointed PTA or PTO officers
K–12 students themselves are not included in Apple’s listed personal Education Pricing categories. Apple also says Education Store purchases are for individual use, not institutional purchasing or resale.

How to get the Apple student discount online
- Open Apple’s U.S. Education Store.
- Choose a category such as Mac, iPad, or Apple Watch. The Mac section is labeled Shop Mac for Education.
- Select a product and configuration. Apple marks products eligible for education savings with a graduation-cap icon.
- Click Buy, choose your specifications, and add the product to your bag.
- At checkout, complete the requested education verification. Apple currently directs customers to verify through UNiDAYS.
- Pay for the order and select delivery or pickup.
Apple says verification is required to complete checkout. If you sign in to your Apple Account first, your verified status remains active for one year, according to Apple’s payment and pricing help page.
A school email address may help with verification, but it is not a guaranteed substitute for the verification process. Apple may request other documentation, and the process can vary by country or region.
How to use the discount at an Apple Store
You can also request Education Pricing through:
- A physical Apple Store
- The Apple Store app
- Apple phone sales at 1-800-MY-APPLE
- An Authorized Campus Reseller
Apple may ask you to verify through UNiDAYS online or in the store. Bring documentation showing your current student, faculty, staff, or other qualifying status in case it is requested.

Which Apple products qualify?
Education Pricing can apply to:
- MacBook models and other Mac computers
- Mac mini, desktop Macs, and selected displays
- iPad models
- Apple Watch
- Selected accessories
Not every product or configuration receives a reduced education price. The live Apple Education Store is the authority for the current price. Check the education price on the exact configuration you want instead of assuming that every model qualifies.
Apple’s 2026 back-to-school promotion
Apple’s current U.S. College Student Offer 2026 runs from July 16, 2026, through August 27, 2026, while supplies last. The eligible product and promotional gift card are:
| Eligible purchase | Apple Gift Card |
|---|---|
| MacBook Pro | $150 |
| MacBook Air | $100 |
| iPad Air | $100 |
| iPad Pro | $100 |
The promotion is available through Apple Stores, the Apple Store for Education, and 1-800-MY-APPLE. It does not automatically apply to every Mac or iPad; the offer terms specifically identify MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iPad Air, and iPad Pro categories.
Why the gift card is not the same as a lower checkout price
The gift card is intended for a future Apple purchase. Apple charges the transaction for the products and the promotion product, with the offer structured as an equivalent discount under its terms. It is not cash paid to your bank account and may not reduce the amount you need to pay today in the way a conventional instant discount would.

From a budgeting standpoint, ask yourself:
- Can you afford the full checkout amount without relying on the gift card?
- Will you use the gift card on Apple hardware, accessories, apps, or services later?
- Would a lower-priced model or a competing retailer provide a better immediate price?
Apple Education purchase limits
Apple’s current U.S. annual limits are:
| Product category | Annual limit |
|---|---|
| Desktop | 1 |
| Mac mini | 1 |
| MacBook | 1 |
| Display | 1 |
| iPad | 2 |
| Apple Watch | 1 |
| Accessories | 2 |
These limits apply cumulatively across Apple’s online store, Apple retail stores, and Authorized Campus Resellers. Buying from different locations does not reset the allowance. Apple can refuse or cancel an order that exceeds the applicable limit.
Important problems that can affect your discount
You used the regular Apple Store
The standard consumer store may include an Education link, but the education price applies only when the order is placed through the appropriate Education Store for your country or region. For U.S. purchases, start at apple.com/us-edu/shop.
Your school email did not verify you
Do not assume that an email ending in your school’s domain automatically qualifies you. Apple may require active school information or other documentation through its verification process.
You are purchasing for an institution
Personal Education Pricing is not intended for institutional, enterprise, business, nonprofit, government, or resale orders. A school buying a fleet of Macs should not place the order as an individual student purchase.

Apple audits the purchase later
Verification at checkout is not necessarily Apple’s final review. Apple says it routinely audits Education Pricing purchases. If it determines that you did not meet the terms, it may charge or invoice the difference between the education price and the applicable public price.
You return a promotional purchase
Under the 2026 back-to-school terms, you must return both the eligible Mac or iPad and the Apple Gift Card to receive a full refund. If the gift card is missing, redeemed, or not returned, Apple says it can deduct the card’s full original value from the refund or exchange value.
You buy refurbished or open-box equipment
Refurbished products, end-of-life products, and open-box products sold “as is” are excluded from the 2026 College Student Offer. Do not assume that a refurbished purchase qualifies simply because you are eligible for Education Pricing on new products.

| Claim | What is actually true |
|---|---|
| You need an Apple student coupon code. | Apple generally uses Education Store pricing and eligibility verification, not a universal coupon code. |
| Every Apple product is discounted. | Eligibility and pricing are product-specific. |
| The 2026 offer gives free AirPods. | The current U.S. offer specifies a $100 or $150 Apple Gift Card, depending on the qualifying product. |
| Parents cannot use the discount. | Parents buying for an eligible college or university student are listed as qualifying purchasers. |
| Different Apple Stores allow unlimited purchases. | Annual limits apply across Apple’s online store, retail locations, and Authorized Campus Resellers. |
| The education price works in every country. | You must use the Education Store for the applicable country or region. |
How to decide whether it is a good deal
- Check the exact education price for the configuration you want.
- Compare it with Apple’s regular price and reputable retailer prices, including sales tax, delivery, and financing costs.
- Value the 2026 gift card only if you expect to make a future Apple purchase.
- Check whether you have already used part of your annual Education purchase allowance.
- Read the return conditions before redeeming the gift card.
- Keep documentation supporting your eligibility and retain the order confirmation.
The headline gift-card value is not necessarily your real savings if you would not otherwise spend that money with Apple. A retailer’s immediate sale can be financially better if it lowers today’s cash outlay or includes a more useful bundle.

FAQ
Is Apple Education Pricing the same as a student coupon?
No. Apple generally provides the discount through its Education Store rather than a universal coupon code. You select an eligible product, see the education price, and complete eligibility verification when prompted.
Can a parent buy an Apple product with the student discount?
Yes, in the U.S., Apple lists parents purchasing on behalf of a student currently attending or accepted into a qualifying college or university as eligible.
Does Apple’s student discount apply to iPhones?
Apple’s eligible products and prices can change, and not every product receives Education Pricing. Check the current Apple Education Store rather than assuming that an iPhone or another specific product qualifies.
What happens if I return an Apple product bought with the 2026 gift-card offer?
You generally need to return both the qualifying product and the Apple Gift Card for a full refund. If the card was redeemed, missing, or not returned, Apple says it may deduct the card’s original value.
The Bottom Line
To get Apple Education Pricing in the U.S., shop through Apple’s Education Store, choose an eligible configuration, and complete UNiDAYS verification at checkout. The current 2026 promotion adds a $100 or $150 Apple Gift Card on selected MacBook and iPad purchases through August 27, but it is not an immediate cash rebate. Check eligibility, annual limits, return rules, and competing prices before treating the advertised amount as a true saving.
