The settlement resolved allegations that Siri-enabled Apple devices sometimes activated unintentionally during private conversations and that Apple obtained or shared resulting communications. Apple denied wrongdoing and did not admit liability. The court granted final approval on September 4, 2025.
If you never filed a claim by the original deadline, you should not submit a new ordinary claim now. If you filed and your check was lost, expired, rejected, or never arrived, use only the official administrator website at lopezvoiceassistantsettlement.com or call 1-888-981-4106.
First, make sure you have the right Apple settlement
Several headlines use the phrase Siri settlement, but two different Apple matters are easy to confuse:
| Matter | What it concerns | Status and fund |
|---|---|---|
| Lopez et al. v. Apple Inc. Case No. 4:19-cv-04577-JSW |
Alleged unintended Siri activations and the collection or sharing of private communications | $95 million gross settlement fund; finally approved September 4, 2025; original claims are closed; payments began in 2026 |
| Separate Apple Intelligence/Siri case | Alleged false advertising related to delayed personalized Siri and Apple Intelligence features | Reported $250 million settlement, with different eligibility rules and a separate claims process |
The $250 million case concerns certain U.S. purchasers of specified iPhone models during a 2024–2025 period. It is not the privacy case described in this article. Do not use its device list, dates, administrator, or claim instructions for the $95 million settlement. See the separate-case reporting from 9to5Mac and MacRumors.

Is the $95 million Siri settlement legitimate?
Yes. Lopez v. Apple Inc. is a federal class-action settlement in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. The court’s final approval order was entered on September 4, 2025.
The authorized settlement administrator is the Lopez Voice Assistant Settlement Administrator, operating through lopezvoiceassistantsettlement.com. The official contact details are:
- Phone: 1-888-981-4106
- Mail: Lopez Voice Assistant Settlement Administrator, P.O. Box 6609, 614 Cranbury Rd, East Brunswick, NJ 08816
Use the exact domain above. Do not pay a third party to file a claim, enter your bank credentials on an unfamiliar claim site, or assume that an email mentioning an Apple payout is genuine. If you receive a suspicious message, navigate to the settlement website by typing the address yourself and contact the administrator using the number on its official contact page.
Can you still file a new Siri settlement claim?
No—not through the ordinary claims process. The deadline was July 2, 2025: online claims were due by 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time, and mailed claims had to be postmarked by that date. The official website now describes the remaining process as payment reissuance for existing claimants whose initial payments expired.

That means a person who never submitted a claim should not be told to file a late claim in 2026. Receiving a notice email now does not, by itself, reopen the claims period or create a new right to participate. If you believe you filed but cannot find your payment, use the current reissuance process or contact the administrator.
What existing claimants should do now
As of August 10, 2026, the official settlement site says that initial claimant payments have expired. Existing claimants should take these steps:
- Go directly to lopezvoiceassistantsettlement.com.
- Use the site’s Request Payment Reissuance option.
- Submit the request by September 3, 2026.
- Keep the claim-related email, postcard, claim number, payment notice, and any confirmation you receive.
- Watch for a reissued payment, which the administrator estimates will be sent on or around September 17, 2026.
- If you still cannot resolve the problem, call 1-888-981-4106.
The September 17 date is an estimate, not a guarantee that every reissued payment will arrive that day. The exact information requested and page labels may change, so follow the live instructions on the official site rather than relying on an old screenshot or an invented reissue URL.
If your payment was a digital check
Search the inbox associated with your claim for the original digital-check email, and check spam, junk, promotions, and trash folders. Do not click a suspicious replacement link simply because it mentions Apple or Siri. Open the official settlement website separately and start the reissuance process there.
If your check was lost, expired, or never arrived
Request reissuance through the official website before September 3, 2026. If you do not know whether the administrator mailed a check, sent an ACH deposit, or issued a digital check, contact the administrator using the official phone number. Have your claim correspondence available, but do not provide account passwords or one-time authentication codes to an unsolicited caller.

- Resided in the United States or one of its territories.
- Owned or purchased a qualifying Siri-enabled device.
- Had Siri enabled on that device.
- Experienced an unintended Siri activation.
- Experienced the activation during a conversation intended to be confidential or private.
- Had the event occur between September 17, 2014, and December 31, 2024.
The final approval order describes the class as current or former owners or purchasers of a Siri Device whose confidential or private communications were obtained by Apple and/or shared with third parties as a result of an unintended Siri activation. The qualifying device categories were:
- iPhone
- iPad
- Apple Watch
- MacBook
- iMac
- HomePod
- iPod touch
- Apple TV
Simply owning an iPhone, using Siri, or having Siri enabled was not enough under the claim form. The claimant had to attest that an unintended activation happened during a private or confidential conversation. The official FAQ and final approval order contain the controlling descriptions.

- You owned a device but never experienced an unintended activation: Ownership alone did not qualify you.
- You no longer own the device: The class included current and former owners or purchasers, but a claimant still had to satisfy the other conditions and make the required attestations.
- You used Siri outside the United States: The settlement class was limited to U.S. residents and residents of U.S. territories.
- You cannot remember when the incident happened: The qualifying period ended December 31, 2024. Do not guess or claim based only on a general suspicion.
- You had several Apple devices: Each claimed device needed to fit the settlement conditions. You could not automatically claim every Apple product you had ever owned.
How many devices could one person claim?
A claimant could claim up to five Siri Devices. The historical claim form required a separate device count and, for people without administrator-issued codes, information such as an associated email address, serial number, model, or proof of purchase. The five-device limit did not eliminate the requirement that each device and incident satisfy the settlement’s conditions.
How the original claim process worked
This is historical information because the filing deadline has passed. During the claims period, a person could:
- Visit the official Lopez Voice Assistant Settlement website.
- Select the claim-submission option.
- Enter the Claimant Identification Code and Confirmation Code from a notice email or postcard, if one was received.
- If no codes were received, provide the identifying and purchase information requested by the administrator.
- List up to five qualifying Siri Devices.
- Choose a payment method: mailed check, digital check, or ACH/direct deposit.
- Confirm under oath that the eligibility statements were true.
- Submit the online claim by 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on July 2, 2025, or mail a claim form postmarked by that date.
The claim form warned that incomplete or false information could lead to rejection and that claims could be audited, reviewed, and validated. Someone who did not receive a postcard or email could historically submit without the codes, but that no-code option also closed with the July 2, 2025 deadline. It is not a current late-claim workaround.
How much was the Apple Siri payout?
The settlement created a $95 million gross fund. Gross means the fund was not necessarily distributed in full to claimants. Before payments, it could be reduced by notice and administration costs, taxes, court-approved attorneys’ fees and litigation expenses, and court-approved service awards for class representatives.

The plan allowed up to $20 per qualifying Siri Device, with a maximum of five devices. That produced a theoretical maximum of $100 per claimant—five devices multiplied by $20—but it was a ceiling, not a guaranteed payment.
Payments were allocated pro rata based on the number of valid claims and qualifying devices, along with the amount remaining after approved expenses and deductions. Reports from recipients indicated payments of approximately $8.02 per device, with some five-device claimants receiving about $40.10. Those are reported payment outcomes, not a universal guaranteed rate published as the settlement’s $20-per-device promise. See the payment reports from 9to5Mac and NBC Chicago.
What happened to uncashed or failed payments?
The settlement agreement addressed failed ACH transfers and uncashed checks. The administrator was to follow up, where economically feasible, with claimants whose payments failed or were not cashed. Under the agreement, failed ACH transfers or checks uncashed after 120 days could be treated as forfeited and used for additional administration costs. Remaining money could be proposed for a court-approved cy pres distribution, and settlement funds could not revert to Apple.
However, the official website now provides a specific payment-reissuance period for existing claimants. That current instruction is more useful than relying on the older 120-day language: request reissuance by September 3, 2026, then contact the administrator if the payment remains missing.

What the lawsuit alleged—and what the settlement did not prove
The lawsuit alleged that Siri could activate without a user deliberately saying an activation phrase or pressing the relevant control. It further alleged that private conversations captured after those activations were obtained by Apple and potentially shared with third parties.
The allegations followed 2019 reporting that contractors involved in Siri quality-control grading could hear recordings containing sensitive material. Apple acknowledged that humans had reviewed a small portion of Siri recordings, suspended that program, and announced privacy changes. The contemporary reporting, Apple’s response, and the second amended complaint describe the history and allegations.
This was a settlement, not a trial verdict. Apple denied wrongdoing and did not admit that it intentionally eavesdropped on users, that every Siri user was affected, or that a human reviewed every recording. The settlement resolved the claims without a judicial finding that the allegations were proven. That is why descriptions such as alleged unintended activation and privacy allegations are more accurate than saying Apple was found liable for eavesdropping.
What non-monetary relief did Apple agree to?
Without admitting liability, the settlement agreement required Apple to:
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →- Confirm permanent deletion of individual Siri audio recordings collected before October 2019.
- Publish information explaining how users could opt in to the Improve Siri option and what information Apple stores from users who opt in.
This should not be broadened into a claim that Apple deleted every Siri record ever created. The requirement concerned individual Siri audio recordings collected before October 2019.
Apple’s current support documentation says that Improve Siri & Dictation is optional. Apple says that opting in allows it to store and review samples of audio recordings and transcripts; that the data is associated with a random device-generated identifier rather than an Apple Account or email address; and that it is not used to build a marketing profile or sold. These are Apple’s current representations, not independent findings in the settlement. Apple’s current explanation is available at Apple Support.

These settings may reduce future Siri data sharing or prevent voice and button activation, but changing them does not create settlement eligibility and does not reopen the claim period.

Turning Siri off on an iPhone does not necessarily disable it on an Apple Watch, HomePod, Apple TV, Mac, or another device. Apple publishes separate controls across its products in its Siri settings guide and its privacy documentation.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What rights did participating class members give up?
Class members who stayed in the settlement and did not opt out became bound by its release provisions. The release covers claims against Apple arising out of or related to the allegations, including claims that Apple recorded, disclosed, or failed to delete conversations recorded as a result of a Siri activation.
A person who opted out would receive no settlement payment but could preserve whatever individual legal rights they might have had. The opt-out deadline was also July 2, 2025, so that option is no longer available through the settlement process.
This is general legal information, not individualized legal advice. Whether a person has any separate legal claim depends on facts and applicable law; accepting a settlement payment can affect related rights.
How to avoid Siri settlement scams
- Check the domain character by character: lopezvoiceassistantsettlement.com.
- Do not pay a fee to submit a claim or request reissuance.
- Do not give an unsolicited caller your Apple Account password, banking password, or one-time verification code.
- Do not assume a message is genuine because it uses Apple’s logo or says that you are owed $100.
- Type the official website into your browser instead of clicking a link in an unexpected email or text.
- Confirm uncertain payment questions with the official administrator at 1-888-981-4106.
The official settlement website and its document page are the appropriate places to verify notices, court documents, and current instructions. Apple’s general website is not the settlement administrator.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I file a new Apple Siri privacy settlement claim in 2026?
No. The ordinary claim deadline was July 2, 2025. The current official website describes payment reissuance for people who already filed, not a new-claim period.
What if I never received the settlement email or postcard?
During the original claims period, people who believed they qualified could submit without the administrator-issued codes by providing requested identifying and purchase information. That option closed when the July 2, 2025 deadline passed. If you think you filed anyway, contact the administrator or use the official reissuance process.

What if my settlement check was lost, expired, or never arrived?
Go to lopezvoiceassistantsettlement.com, select the payment-reissuance option, and submit the request by September 3, 2026. You can also call 1-888-981-4106. Do not rely on unofficial replacement-payment links.
What if my digital check email went to spam?
Check spam, junk, promotions, and trash folders for the email address connected with your claim. For safety, access the official settlement website separately rather than clicking an unexpected payment link, and request reissuance if necessary.
Can I claim more than five Apple devices?
No. The original claim process allowed up to five qualifying Siri Devices per claimant. Each device still had to meet the settlement’s eligibility conditions.
Do I need to still own the Apple device?
The settlement class included current and former owners or purchasers. However, former ownership alone was not enough; the claimant also had to satisfy the other conditions, including an unintended activation during a private or confidential conversation within the qualifying period.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Does owning an iPhone automatically qualify me?
No. The claim form required an attestation that Siri was enabled, an unintended activation occurred, and the activation happened during a private or confidential conversation. Device ownership by itself did not qualify someone.
Is this the same as the $250 million Siri settlement?
No. The $95 million Lopez v. Apple settlement concerns alleged unintended Siri activations and private communications. The separate reported $250 million case concerns alleged false advertising over delayed personalized Siri and Apple Intelligence features. They have different allegations, eligibility rules, and claim processes.
Did Apple admit that it was eavesdropping?
No. The lawsuit alleged unintended activations and the acquisition or sharing of private communications. Apple denied wrongdoing, and the settlement included no admission of liability. Approval of a settlement is not a trial finding that the allegations were proven.
Can I sue Apple separately after accepting a payment?
Participating class members who did not opt out became subject to the settlement’s release provisions. Those provisions cover claims related to the allegations. The opt-out deadline has passed. Because the effect of the release depends on the facts and legal theory, seek advice from a qualified attorney before assuming a separate lawsuit remains available.
The Bottom Line
The $95 million Apple Siri privacy settlement is real, but its ordinary claim window is over. A person who never filed by July 2, 2025 generally cannot submit a new claim now. An existing claimant whose check, ACH payment, or digital check failed, expired, or never arrived should use the official settlement website to request payment reissuance by September 3, 2026, with payments estimated around September 17, 2026.
The settlement offered up to $20 per approved device, capped at five devices, but the $95 million was a gross fund and reported payments were closer to $8 per device. Verify everything through lopezvoiceassistantsettlement.com or 1-888-981-4106.
