The Anup Engineering Limited’s appeal against a Gujarat GST Department demand of ₹3.32 crore was allowed, according to a report published on October 4, 2026. The report says the company stated the outcome had no financial impact. The original demand included input tax credit, ocean-freight IGST, penalty and interest; the appellate order’s reasoning and its treatment of interest have not been independently confirmed.

What happened to Anup Engineering’s GST demand?

ScanX reported on October 4, 2026, that an Appellate Authority order dated October 3 allowed Anup Engineering’s appeal against a Gujarat GST Department order and set aside the ₹3.32 crore demand. The report attributes the outcome and the no-financial-impact statement to the company. The appellate order itself was not available in the sources reviewed, so its wording and scope cannot be independently confirmed.

How was the original ₹3.32 crore demand calculated?

In a February 2025 Regulation 30 disclosure, Anup Engineering said the Gujarat GST Department had issued an order under section 74(1) of the CGST Act, 2017. The company listed these amounts:

Component Amount in the company’s 2025 disclosure
Ineligible input tax credit (ITC) ₹1.33 crore
IGST on ocean freight ₹0.33 crore
Penalty ₹1.66 crore
Total of listed components ₹3.32 crore

The disclosure also mentioned interest, without including a separate interest figure in that breakdown. Anup Engineering said it considered the demand not maintainable and would appeal to the First Appellate Authority.

Why did the authority allow the appeal?

The available reporting confirms the reported appeal outcome, but does not establish the authority’s reasons. Without the appellate order, it would be speculative to say whether the decision turned on the ITC claim, ocean-freight IGST, penalty, a procedural issue or another ground.

What does the outcome mean for the company’s finances?

The October 2026 report says Anup Engineering stated that the outcome had no financial impact. That statement should not be recast as a cash saving, earnings boost or quantified change in the company’s financial position; none of those effects is established by the sources available.

What remains unclear?

  • The appellate order’s full reasoning and precise scope have not been independently confirmed.
  • The order’s express treatment of interest is not established.
  • Whether the department has appealed or taken any further action is not established.
