Alternatives to Coinbase-Powered Stablecoin Cards for Businesses (2026 Guide)

The best alternative depends on how much infrastructure your business wants to own. Nium is the strongest API-first and white-label route, with Visa and Mastercard issuing through one integration. Oobit and Wirex are closer to ready-made, treasury-linked business cards. Infini is designed around employee controls and reconciliation, while Lead is aimed at program infrastructure and on-chain settlement. Corpay/Circle and OSL should be treated as enterprise-roadmap or planned options until their current launch status is confirmed.

A stablecoin card does not usually make a merchant accept tokens directly. The program verifies or reserves an on-chain balance, then converts or settles through ordinary card-network rails; the merchant generally receives fiat. Before selecting a provider, confirm the legal entity, licensing, custody model, supported stablecoins, KYC/KYB and sanctions responsibilities, card-network coverage, fees, limits, chargeback process, geography and accounting integrations.

What counts as an alternative to a Coinbase-powered business card?

“Stablecoin card” can describe three different products. Treating them as interchangeable is the fastest way to choose the wrong operating model.

Ready-made treasury cards

A ready-made product gives your company an account, cards and a provider-managed conversion or settlement flow. You fund the account with supported stablecoins, issue physical or virtual cards, and set employee or vendor usage rules inside the provider’s interface. Oobit and Wirex are the closest matches in this category.

API and white-label issuing

An API provider supplies the issuing, authorization, ledger and compliance components so you can present cards inside your own product or finance workflow. Your engineering and compliance teams still need to design onboarding, user permissions, funding and reporting. Nium is the clearest fit for this model.

Regulated program infrastructure

An infrastructure provider may let you choose processors, use a dedicated bank-identification number (BIN), or settle with networks in stablecoins. This can support a differentiated card program, but it normally requires more work on licensing, risk ownership and operational controls. Lead is positioned this way.

Corpay/Circle and OSL belong in a separate diligence bucket: their published material describes work underway or planned capabilities rather than a universally available product. Do not treat a roadmap announcement as a live replacement.

How stablecoin business cards actually settle a purchase

  1. Funding: the company deposits supported stablecoins into a custodial account or connects a wallet through an API.
  2. Authorization: when a cardholder presents the card, the program checks the available balance, spending limits, merchant-category rules and other risk controls.
  3. Conversion or reservation: the provider either converts the required amount to fiat at authorization, reserves the stablecoin value and converts at settlement, or uses a network arrangement that settles in stablecoins.
  4. Card-network clearing: Visa or Mastercard processes the transaction using its ordinary acceptance and dispute mechanisms. The merchant normally receives fiat in its acquiring arrangement.
  5. Reconciliation: the provider records the stablecoin debit, exchange rate, fees, cardholder, merchant and settlement date so finance staff can post the transaction.

The distinction matters for treasury and accounting. A product that merely lets an employee spend from a crypto account is not the same as an API that lets you issue cards to your own customers, and neither is identical to a program that settles network obligations in stablecoins. Ask for a transaction-level description of authorization, conversion, final settlement, refunds and chargebacks before signing.

At-a-glance comparison

Provider Operating model Networks or settlement Business use cases and controls Published status and cautions
Nium API-first issuing and white-label infrastructure Visa and Mastercard through one API; stablecoin-to-fiat conversion at point of sale Physical and virtual cards; vendor payments, employee expenses and travel, SaaS subscriptions, platform payouts Announced March 30, 2026; programs face jurisdiction restrictions and are currently unavailable in Hong Kong
Oobit Ready-to-use cards linked to a company stablecoin treasury Visa acceptance; local-rail payouts described for SEPA, ACH and PIX Vendor, contractor and team payments; online, in-store, Apple Pay and Google Pay use Regional availability and licensed-partner arrangements require verification
Wirex Business Business account, corporate/payroll cards and treasury bundle Stablecoin spending at the card network; optional on-chain yield Corporate and payroll cards, unified balances and treasury management Vendor claims include 80M+ merchants, up to 6% APY, 7M+ customers, $20B+ processed and 130+ countries; verify current terms
Infini Stablecoin-funded corporate cards focused on finance operations Network and settlement details not stated in the published material summarized here Per-member limits, real-time spend tracking, automated reconciliation, duplicate-subscription and waste monitoring No comparable public fee schedule stated
Lead Program infrastructure Visa or Mastercard; claims settlement with card networks in stablecoins seven days a week Stablecoin-backed limits, dedicated BIN and processor-choice features Confirm legal entity, supported assets and geography before treating it as available
Corpay/Circle Enterprise collaboration and roadmap USDC wallets and 24/7 settlement; commercial-card work described Potential fleet, purchasing and travel cards drawing from USDC balances August 6, 2025 announcement describes work underway, not a guaranteed live product
OSL Business Cards Planned, jurisdiction-dependent proposition Funding model and network depend on issuer and program Potential virtual, physical, single-use and bulk cards; limits, category and geographic rules, approvals and role administration Final fees, availability, card types and scope explicitly depend on jurisdiction and legal entity

Nium: the strongest API and white-label alternative

Nium announced on March 30, 2026 that a business holding stablecoins can issue cards on both Visa and Mastercard through a single API. Its stated flow converts stablecoins to fiat at the point of sale and reaches hundreds of millions of merchant locations through those networks. That combination is most useful when a company wants to embed cards in its own platform rather than send every employee to a separate consumer-style app.

The product page says Nium supports physical and virtual cards and targets vendor payments, corporate expenses, employee travel, SaaS subscriptions and platform payouts. Nium also reports that its platform powered more than 41 million card tokens in the last year; that is a company-reported scale figure, not an independent performance test.

Where Nium fits

  • A marketplace or payroll platform that needs to issue cards under its own user experience.
  • A multinational finance team that wants both major card networks behind one integration.
  • A business that prefers point-of-sale conversion instead of building its own exchange and authorization logic.

Questions to settle before implementation

  • Which Nium contracting and licensing entity serves each country where your cardholders or merchants are located?
  • Which stablecoins and blockchain networks can fund a program, and are deposits held by Nium, a partner or your own wallet?
  • Who performs KYB, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring and suspicious-activity escalation?
  • How are FX spreads, network fees, refunds, chargebacks and failed authorizations represented in API responses and accounting exports?

Nium states that programs are subject to jurisdictional restrictions and are currently unavailable in Hong Kong. A regional sales statement is therefore not a substitute for country-by-country eligibility confirmation.

Oobit: a direct treasury-linked operating card

Oobit says its Business cards are issued against a company’s stablecoin treasury. When a payment is made, the transaction is settled using the stablecoin balance held in the Oobit account. The cards are described as usable anywhere Visa is accepted, including online and in-store purchases, Apple Pay and Google Pay.

Oobit also describes paying vendors, contractors and teams through local rails such as SEPA, ACH and PIX. That makes it more than a card-only option for a business that needs a stablecoin-funded treasury account plus outbound payments.

Best fit

Choose this model when the priority is operational access to an existing stablecoin treasury, not a deeply customized issuing stack. It can suit a small or mid-sized company that wants cards for employees and separate payout rails for contractors.

Due-diligence points

  • Verify the exact countries and legal entities available to your business and cardholders.
  • Confirm whether the balance is custodial, how keys and withdrawal permissions are handled, and what happens if an account is frozen.
  • Request written limits for card spend, bank-rail payouts, supported stablecoins, conversion timing and chargebacks.
  • Clarify whether SEPA, ACH and PIX are direct services or depend on licensed local partners.

Wirex Business: an account, card and treasury bundle

Wirex markets a combined business account, corporate and payroll cards, stablecoin balances and optional on-chain yield. Its cards are promoted for spending in stablecoins at more than 80 million merchants, and the company advertises up to 6% APY on idle balances. Those are vendor claims; yield is not a guaranteed return and may depend on asset, jurisdiction, lock-up, program terms and counterparty exposure.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Wirex also reports more than 7 million customers, over $20 billion in processed transactions and availability in more than 130 countries. Treat those figures as company-reported scale and coverage claims that require current verification for your legal entity and intended countries.

Why a bundle can be attractive

  • One provider may cover operating balances, employee cards and payroll cards.
  • Unified balances can reduce transfers between a treasury account and a card wallet.
  • Optional yield may make idle balances productive, subject to risk and liquidity terms.

Why a bundle needs extra scrutiny

Combining custody, yield and card issuing concentrates counterparty exposure. Ask whether yield-bearing assets are segregated, who bears lending or protocol risk, whether balances are redeemable immediately and how accounting distinguishes principal, rewards, fees and realized FX. Confirm that payroll use is permitted in every employment jurisdiction involved.

Infini: employee controls and reconciliation first

Infini describes stablecoin-funded corporate cards with custom limits for each member, real-time spend tracking and automated reconciliation. It also says its AI monitors transactions for duplicate subscriptions and wasted software spend. This emphasis is valuable when finance operations are the bottleneck: the question is not only whether a card can spend stablecoins, but whether every transaction can be approved, attributed and posted without spreadsheet repair.

Capabilities to test in a pilot

  • Create separate limits for executives, employees, contractors and temporary users.
  • Apply merchant-category, geography and time-based rules before authorization.
  • Require approval for unusual amounts or new merchants.
  • Export transaction, exchange-rate, fee and receipt data in the format your accounting system accepts.
  • Measure how duplicate-subscription alerts are explained, overridden and logged for audit.

The published material does not provide a comparable public fee schedule. Obtain a complete price sheet covering issuance, cards, FX, funding, withdrawals, failed transactions, chargebacks, API calls and account administration.

Lead: infrastructure for on-chain settlement

Lead says card limits can be derived from a USD stablecoin balance and that it can issue on Visa or Mastercard. Its distinctive claim is that it settles with card networks in stablecoins seven days a week, avoiding the USD conversion step and its associated conversion cost. It also describes dedicated BIN and processor-choice features.

This model may appeal to a fintech that wants control over program architecture or needs a settlement design different from point-of-sale fiat conversion. It also creates a larger diligence burden. Confirm the legal entity, supported assets, blockchain networks, settlement finality, network and processor contracts, reserve requirements, dispute funding and geographic availability. “Seven days a week” settlement does not by itself establish instant merchant settlement, 24/7 refunds or lower total cost; those outcomes depend on the complete program contract.

Corpay/Circle and OSL: do not confuse roadmaps with availability

Corpay and Circle

In an August 6, 2025 announcement, Corpay and Circle said Corpay would integrate USDC wallets and enable 24/7 settlement while working toward commercial cards—including fleet, purchasing and travel cards—that draw directly from USDC balances and settle automatically in fiat. The wording describes work underway. Put this option on an enterprise watchlist and request a current launch statement, eligible countries, product terms and onboarding path before budgeting for it.

OSL Business Cards

OSL describes Business Cards as a planned proposition connecting approved business balances with controlled card payments. The stated potential features include virtual, physical, single-use and bulk-issued cards, plus user limits, merchant and category restrictions, geographic rules, approvals and role-based administration. OSL also says the final funding model, fees, availability, card types and service scope depend on the issuer, program, jurisdiction and legal entity. Those dependencies are material product terms, not footnotes; obtain them in writing before treating the proposition as an alternative.

Requirements to compare before signing

Use the same written questionnaire for every provider. A polished dashboard cannot compensate for an unsuitable legal or settlement structure.

Regulatory and counterparty checks

  • Exact contracting entity, licensing status and permitted activities in each country.
  • Who owns customer funds, controls private keys and can freeze or release balances.
  • KYB, beneficial-owner verification, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring and reporting responsibilities.
  • Reserve, safeguarding, insolvency and bankruptcy treatment for stablecoin and fiat balances.
  • Subprocessor, bank, issuer and card-network dependencies, including replacement procedures.

Commercial and network checks

  • Supported stablecoins, chains, deposit confirmations, minimums and withdrawal windows.
  • Visa, Mastercard or both; countries of acceptance; ATM policy; virtual, physical, single-use and bulk issuance.
  • FX rate source, spread, conversion timing, network fees, card fees, account fees and inactivity charges.
  • Authorization, clearing, refund and chargeback timelines, including who funds a dispute while it is open.
  • Per-card, per-user, merchant-category, geographic and aggregate program limits.

Finance and people operations

  • Real-time balance and transaction webhooks, downloadable statements and accounting exports.
  • Receipt capture, approval workflows, role-based administration and audit logs.
  • Payroll, contractor and vendor-payment rails, tax documentation and payment reversals.
  • Employee onboarding and offboarding, lost-card controls, emergency replacement and support hours.

A practical implementation sequence

  1. Map the money flow. Draw the path from stablecoin acquisition to employee authorization, merchant settlement, refunds and accounting. Mark every conversion and custody point.
  2. Define the user groups. Separate employees, contractors, vendors, travel users and platform customers. Give each a proposed limit, approval path and permitted merchant categories.
  3. Shortlist by operating model. Do not ask a ready-made card provider to meet an API-issuing requirement, or an infrastructure provider to behave like a plug-and-play expense app.
  4. Run legal and compliance diligence. Confirm entity, licensing, KYB, sanctions, custody, supported countries and data-processing terms before technical work begins.
  5. Pilot with a capped balance. Test small real transactions across online, in-store, recurring, refund and chargeback scenarios. Record authorization latency, exchange rates, fees and ledger entries.
  6. Reconcile independently. Match the provider ledger to blockchain movements, bank statements, card-network settlement and your accounting system. Investigate rounding, time zones, partial refunds and failed transactions.
  7. Set exit controls. Document how to pause cards, withdraw funds, rotate administrators, export records and migrate users if the provider loses a license, a banking partner or a supported asset.

Market context and what it means for buyers

Visa reports approximately $5.2 billion in stablecoin-linked-card volume in 2025, a 319% year-over-year increase, and more than 130 programs across over 50 countries. Visa says companies are using these programs for global treasury management, employee expenses and contractor payments. The growth indicates expanding network availability, not that every provider offers the same custody, settlement or compliance model.

Nium cites an estimate of $200 billion in stablecoins in circulation in 2026 as market context. That estimate is not a measurement of Nium’s own balances or of card spending. For a buyer, the relevant question remains whether a particular asset, chain, country and issuer combination is permitted and operational for your program.

Common failure modes and fixes

The card works in one country but not another

Cause: issuer, licensing or merchant-acquiring restrictions. Fix: obtain a country matrix naming the contracting entity, cardholder residence rules, merchant acceptance limits and local-rail availability.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The stablecoin balance looks right but the card declines

Cause: a separate fiat reserve, gas requirement, velocity limit, unsupported asset or risk rule. Fix: request decline codes and test authorization with each supported asset and limit tier.

Accounting cannot explain the final amount

Cause: conversion, network fee, tip, partial capture or refund posted at a different time. Fix: require transaction-level records containing authorization amount, final settlement amount, exchange rate, fee, timestamps and blockchain reference where applicable.

Payroll or contractor payments create compliance problems

Cause: card spending and local-rail payouts may use different regulated entities and obligations. Fix: verify employment, tax, sanctions and payment-rail requirements separately instead of assuming the card approval covers payouts.

Yield makes the treasury balance hard to value

Cause: rewards, lock-ups, protocol exposure or changing redemption terms. Fix: keep operating liquidity separate from yield strategies and document valuation, redemption and counterparty assumptions.

Frequently asked questions

Will a merchant know that my company paid with stablecoins?

Usually not. In the common model, the provider converts or settles through Visa or Mastercard and the merchant’s acquirer receives fiat. The exact flow depends on the program and should be confirmed in its settlement documentation.

Can one program use both Visa and Mastercard?

Yes, some infrastructure can. Nium announced support for both networks through one API; other providers may support only one network or use different issuing partners by country.

Is an advertised APY on idle stablecoins guaranteed?

No. A quoted APY is a provider claim subject to program terms, asset eligibility, liquidity, jurisdiction and counterparty or protocol risk. Treat it separately from the card’s payment functionality.

What should a finance team request in a proof of concept?

Ask for test credentials, decline codes, webhook and export samples, exchange-rate and fee fields, refund and chargeback records, administrator roles, card replacement procedures and a complete fee schedule.

Are Corpay/Circle and OSL available replacements today?

The announcements and descriptions summarized here do not establish universal live availability. Obtain a current product, country and onboarding confirmation directly from the relevant legal entity before relying on either option.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a stablecoin card be used for recurring software subscriptions?

It can be, if the issuer permits recurring merchant transactions and the card remains funded. Test authorization, renewal, refunds and card-updater behavior during the pilot.

Who is responsible when a card transaction is fraudulent?

Responsibility depends on the issuer agreement, authentication controls and chargeback rules. Get the liability allocation and dispute deadlines in writing before issuing cards.

Do stablecoin cards eliminate foreign-exchange costs?

No. A program may reduce a conversion step or use a stablecoin settlement path, but spreads, network fees and local-currency conversion can still apply.
