Aim Security announced an $18 million Series A in June 2024, led by Canaan Partners with participation from YL Ventures. The round brought the company’s disclosed funding to $28 million. What did Aim Security’s platform do?

Aim focused on helping organizations govern and secure generative AI use across several environments: public AI-enabled SaaS applications, enterprise chat tools, private AI applications, AI agents, and internal software development. Its purpose was to give security teams visibility into AI use and let them set and enforce controls suited to their organizations.

The company described risks that included sensitive-data exposure, vulnerabilities in the AI supply chain, harmful or manipulated outputs, jailbreaks, and prompt injection. These are different problems: data controls address information employees might disclose, while protections against prompt injection and jailbreaks concern attempts to manipulate an AI system’s behavior. These are threat areas, but there is no evidence here that Aim eliminated them or comparative effectiveness results.

Finance of America CISO Drew Robertson said Aim covered the company’s generative AI use across public SaaS apps, enterprise chats, and internal development, helping it apply guardrails suited to its regulations and needs. That example illustrates the product’s enterprise-governance focus, rather than a consumer-facing AI security service.

Who founded Aim Security?

Aim was founded by Matan Getz and Adir Gruss, both associated with Israel Defense Forces Unit 8200 experience. The available company and funding announcements do not provide further details about their roles after the acquisition.

What happened to Aim after the funding?

Cato Networks announced it had acquired Aim Security on September 3, 2025. Cato said it planned to extend its SASE Cloud Platform with Aim’s technology to secure adoption of AI agents and public and private AI applications. Cato described the acquisition as adding AI-security capabilities to its platform.

The announcement establishes the acquisition and intended integration, but does not specify a standalone Aim product’s post-acquisition availability, pricing, or support arrangements. Businesses evaluating the technology should confirm current product names, capabilities, and continuity with Cato directly rather than assume Aim remains an independently available service.
