If you want startup jobs with equity, remote-work options or unusually strong family and wellness benefits, these 25 employers are a useful starting list—but not a current guarantee. The companies appeared in CareerAddict’s August 22, 2023 roundup based on Forbes’ 2023 America’s Best Startup Employers list. Because benefits, hiring needs and rankings can change quickly, treat every item below as a historical lead and confirm the current job posting, employment country and benefits summary before accepting an offer.
What this list actually measures
Forbes evaluated 2,600 US-based startups founded between 2013 and 2020, each with at least 50 employees. Its 2023 assessment considered employer reputation, employee satisfaction and company growth. That methodology makes the list more useful than an informal collection of fashionable startups, but it does not mean every company is hiring now, that every role receives the same package or that a 2023 perk still exists in 2026.

The descriptions below reflect the benefits and workplace features reported in the 2023 source. Benefits can differ by job level, employment status, state and country. Equity may be restricted stock, options or another instrument; its eventual value is never guaranteed. A benefit that sounds generous can also have eligibility rules, waiting periods, tax consequences or a reimbursement cap.

Detailed profiles and reported benefits
1. Ridgeline
Ridgeline develops a cloud platform for investment management. The 2023 roundup highlighted stock options for all employees, 12 weeks of paid parental leave, a dog-friendly office and $1,500 in annual education reimbursement. Ask whether the option grant is new-hire and refresh eligible, what vesting schedule applies and whether the education amount is reimbursement or a taxable stipend.
#1 Best Overall
2. Route
Route provides ecommerce package tracking. Reported benefits included flexible time off, education investment and zero-cost family medical insurance. The company also highlighted car detailing, ski passes and arena-box tickets. “Zero-cost” should be confirmed against deductibles, coinsurance and the definition of family coverage rather than treated as free healthcare in every circumstance.
3. OneRail
OneRail operates in last-mile logistics. Its listed benefits included flexible paid time off, company-funded life insurance, disability coverage, an onsite restaurant, food trucks and dry cleaning. The 2023 article said OneRail partnered with 650 carrier and courier companies, more than 65 logistics companies and a network of over 12 million drivers; those scale figures are historical and should be rechecked. Candidates should ask how frequently travel, warehouse or customer-site work is required.
4. Abnormal Security
Abnormal Security uses artificial intelligence for cloud email protection. The company was described as benchmarking salaries to higher-cost cities and maintaining stated pay-equity practices. Ask which labor market is used for your location, how often compensation is reviewed and whether equity is included in the benchmark.

5. Sonatus
Sonatus builds automotive software. The reported package included flexible work arrangements, unlimited paid time off, free snacks and stock options. Unlimited time off is best evaluated by asking how much employees actually take, whether minimum vacation is encouraged and how leave works during a busy product launch.
6. Origin
Origin offers a personal-finance and benefits platform. Its highlighted package included unlimited paid time off, stock options, a wellness stipend, fertility benefits, mental-health care and paid parental leave. Confirm whether fertility and mental-health benefits are delivered through the medical plan, a separate vendor or reimbursement, and check annual limits and geographic eligibility.
7. Atrium Insights
Atrium Insights is an AI and analytics consultancy. The 2023 article listed cellphone and home-internet stipends, stock options and flexible schedules. It also reported a 4.8/5 Glassdoor rating, 99% CEO approval and 97% of reviewers saying they would recommend the company, but those figures were time-sensitive and should be independently rechecked. Consulting candidates should also clarify client travel, utilization expectations and billable-hour targets.
Rank #2

- Ideal for a bookworm
- Compact for travelling
8. Snappr
Snappr operates a visual-content marketplace. Job listings described a hybrid work-from-home schedule and a culture focused on growth. Ask how many days are expected in person, whether the policy varies by team and how performance is assessed when work is distributed.

Public.com is an investing platform. Reported benefits included paid time off, a $5,000 reproductive-care travel stipend when care is unavailable locally, flexible tax-free spending, free lunch and up to $750 per year toward a gym. The reproductive-care amount is a specific travel stipend, not a general medical benefit; verify eligible expenses, documentation and tax treatment before valuing it in total compensation.
10. VAST Data
VAST Data works in data storage and management. The roundup emphasized international locations, growth and an innovation-oriented culture rather than a single headline perk. Ask which locations are open to new hires, whether transfers are sponsored and how compensation is adjusted across countries.
11. SeekOut
SeekOut develops recruiting and talent-optimization software. The reported package included healthcare, stock options, education, wellness and home-office stipends, together with a remote-first model. Remote-first does not necessarily mean work-from-anywhere: confirm approved countries, time-zone overlap, equipment ownership and travel requirements.
12. Remote
Remote provides global payroll, benefits and compliance services. Its highlighted benefits included unlimited paid time off, a home-office budget, mental-health support and 16 weeks of paid parental leave. Because the company operates across jurisdictions, ask whether the stated leave applies to your employing entity and local law, and whether contractors receive the same support as employees.
13. Perch
Perch is a retail company that was described as 100% remote. The package included a 401(k) match, product discounts, a flexible environment and year-end and birthday bonuses. Verify the match formula, bonus targets and whether product discounts are useful for your household rather than assuming their face value equals cash compensation.
14. The Good Food Institute
The Good Food Institute is an alternative-protein nonprofit. Reported benefits included a matched retirement plan, a $300 home-office stipend, a $1,000 professional-development budget and a $75 monthly cellphone and internet stipend. Nonprofit compensation can trade some cash upside for mission alignment; compare the total package with your retirement-saving needs and the stipend rules.
Rank #3
15. CyberCube
CyberCube provides cyber-insurance analytics. Its listed benefits included a $2,000 annual learning stipend, experience-based rewards, global-transfer support, equity grants and performance cash bonuses. Ask how “experience-based” rewards are determined, whether the learning allowance rolls over and what conditions apply to international transfers.
16. Mission Lane
Mission Lane is a fintech company. The article listed full health, dental and vision coverage, 20 days of paid time off and monthly internet and personal-cost stipends. It also cited 2022–2023 Great Place to Work data in which 84% of employees said it was a great place to work; that result is historical. Request current premium contributions, out-of-pocket limits and the exact definition of the monthly stipends.

17. Plus
Plus develops autonomous-driving technology. Reported benefits included unlimited paid time off, catered lunches, professional development, equity, a 401(k), a flexible spending account and flexible schedules. Candidates should model the tax value of catered meals and FSA access separately from salary and ask whether equity is options or restricted stock.
18. Tomorrow.io
Tomorrow.io provides weather and climate intelligence. The roundup described flexible hours, flexible vacation and an execution-focused culture. Ask how core collaboration hours are set, how vacation is approved during delivery periods and what “execution-focused” means for on-call or deadline expectations.
19. Cribl
Cribl is a data-streaming company. The reported package included disability and income protection, health coaching, mental-health care, FSA and HSA accounts and monthly remote-office reimbursement. Compare the disability definition and waiting period with your existing coverage, and check whether the remote-office reimbursement covers internet, furniture or both.
20. Postscript
Postscript provides SMS marketing for ecommerce. Benefits highlighted in the 2023 article included fully remote work, equity grants, a home-office budget and a $50 monthly customer-product stipend. Clarify whether the $50 is taxable, whether it can be used by every employee and how the company handles equipment replacement.

21. Span.IO
Span.IO develops smart-home energy systems. The company was associated with unlimited paid time off, team-building activities and career-growth opportunities. Ask for examples of promotion criteria, training budgets and the average time employees take away from work rather than relying on the label “unlimited.”
22. NOIRLab
NOIRLab is the National Optical-Infrared Astronomy Research Laboratory. It offers scientific and non-scientific career paths and was described as having an extensive US benefits package. Applicants should distinguish direct laboratory employment from contractor roles, then review retirement, health, leave and location rules for the specific position.
23. Our Next Energy
Our Next Energy works on EV batteries and energy storage, with sustainability efforts centered on iron and manganese. The reported workplace features were a flexible schedule and flexible work environment. Ask how much work is laboratory, manufacturing-site or office based, since flexibility can differ sharply by function.
24. Corvus Insurance
Corvus Insurance operates in cyber insurance. Its highlighted benefits included unlimited paid time off, a hybrid schedule, commuter benefits and stock options. Verify the required office days, commuting-area definition and option vesting terms before comparing the offer with a fully remote employer.

25. Commonwealth Fusion
Commonwealth Fusion develops fusion-energy technology. The roundup described a “take vacation” policy, a sick policy encouraging employees to stay home, professional-growth opportunities and comprehensive health benefits. Ask how leave is planned around laboratory or engineering milestones and obtain the health plan’s premiums and out-of-pocket maximums in writing.

How to evaluate a startup offer financially
Separate cash from contingent value
Start with base pay, guaranteed cash allowances and the employer’s actual insurance contribution. Treat options, restricted stock, performance bonuses and discretionary rewards as contingent value. For options, request the grant size, exercise price, vesting schedule, expiration period after leaving and the latest preferred-share valuation if the company provides it. A large percentage cannot be assessed without the total share count and dilution information.
Best Value
- It can be a gift option
- Comes with secure packaging
- Helpful in various ways
Price healthcare using worst-case exposure
Compare employee premiums, deductibles, coinsurance, out-of-pocket maximums, prescription coverage and network geography. A “full” medical package may still leave substantial exposure for a family, while a stipend may be taxable and may not replace insurance. Include dental, vision, mental-health and fertility coverage only after checking limits and exclusions.
Turn time off into a usable benefit
Ask how much paid leave employees actually take, whether managers track minimum usage, whether unused days are paid out where required and how parental or medical leave interacts with paid time off. Unlimited policies have no dollar value if workload or approval culture makes leave impractical.
Check flexibility against your actual life
“Remote,” “hybrid” and “flexible” can describe different rules for different teams. Confirm the permitted residence, tax registration, core hours, office cadence, travel budget and equipment policy. A role that permits remote work only within one country may not suit someone planning an international move.
Verification checklist before applying or accepting
- Open the employer’s current careers page and confirm that the role is active, the location is eligible and the listed salary range applies to your market.
- Request the current benefits guide or a written summary covering medical premiums, deductibles, leave, retirement contributions, equity and stipends.
- Ask the recruiter which benefits are available to your employment type and start date, including probationary or part-time status.
- For equity, request the grant instrument, vesting schedule, exercise terms, expiration rules and the company’s latest valuation information that it is permitted to share.
- For remote work, obtain the approved-country list, travel expectations, working-hour overlap and equipment-reimbursement rules.
- Speak with a future manager about workload, on-call duties, vacation approval and how performance is measured.
- Compare the written offer with your current compensation after taxes, insurance costs, retirement match and commuting or relocation expenses.
Where to find current startup openings
Use the employer’s own careers page first, then reputable startup-focused job marketplaces such as Wellfound to discover additional openings. Treat marketplace listings as leads: verify that the role is still open, identify the legal employing entity and confirm benefits directly with the company. A 2023 ranking is not evidence that a company is hiring in 2026.
Bottom line
These 25 startups cover software, fintech, logistics, climate technology, science and nonprofits, with standout examples of equity, remote work, parental support, stipends and learning budgets. The strongest choice is the employer whose written offer fits your risk tolerance and household needs—not simply the company with the most impressive perk list. Use the profiles to build a shortlist, then verify every material term before treating a benefit as part of your compensation.
