16 Major TV Brands Ranked Worst To Best By Customer Satisfaction

A popular 16-brand TV ranking is not a uniform customer-satisfaction survey. Here is the published order, what current ACSI data says, and how to buy without overpaying.

A television’s logo is only one part of its ownership cost. The purchase price, warranty support, software experience, repair options, and likelihood of needing a replacement all affect whether a “bargain” actually saves money.

The commonly cited list of 16 major TV brands ranked worst to best places Hitachi at the bottom and LG at the top. But that order should not be treated as a single, current customer-satisfaction survey. It combines forum comments, review scores, buying guidance, and research from several sources. The latest comparable U.S. data from the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) tells a different story among the six brands it measures.

The 16-brand ranking, from worst to best

The following is the published order, not a definitive measure of how every owner feels. It is useful as a starting point, but buyers should compare the specific model, retailer warranty, return policy, and expected repair cost before spending hundreds or thousands of dollars.

  1. Hitachi
  2. FFalcon
  3. RCA
  4. Insignia
  5. Amazon
  6. Roku
  7. Toshiba
  8. JVC
  9. Philips
  10. Panasonic
  11. Vizio
  12. Hisense
  13. TCL
  14. Sony
  15. Samsung
  16. LG

Why this is not a true apples-to-apples satisfaction ranking

The ranking draws on a mixture of forum and survey feedback, review ratings, and buying recommendations from sources including LifeStory Research, Visual Capitalist, The New York Times Wirecutter, Wired, and Digital Trends. Those sources do not measure exactly the same thing. A reviewer may prioritize contrast and motion handling, while a survey respondent may care more about setup, warranty service, or whether the TV lasted five years.

INSIGNIA 32" Class F20 Series LED HD Smart Fire TV, Voice Remote with Alexa, Free & Live TV
  • 720p resolution - View your favorite movies, shows and games in high definition.
  • Alexa voice control - The Alexa Voice Remote lets you easily control your entertainment, search across apps, switch inputs, and more using just your voice. Press and hold the voice button and ask Alexa to easily find, launch, and control content, and even switch to cable.
  • Access thousands of shows with Fire TV - Watch over 1.5 million streaming movies and TV episodes with access to thousands of channels, apps and Alexa skills, including Prime Video, Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, YouTube, Apple TV+, Disney+, ESPN+, Sling TV, Paramount+, and other services right from this TV.*
  • DTS Virtual-X Sound - An immersive sound format creates a three-dimensional sound experience with your TV’s speakers.
  • Supports HDMI ARC - Sends audio directly from the HDMI jack to a compatible soundbar or AV receiver, removing the need for an extra cable.

That distinction matters financially. A television can receive excellent picture-quality reviews but still frustrate owners with a slow interface or poor customer service. Conversely, an inexpensive model can satisfy its owner because it performs well enough for a bedroom or occasional streaming use.

There is also a scope problem. The list contains brands that are not equally available in the U.S., includes retailer-oriented and licensed brands, and omits some recognizable names, such as Sharp. Its URL still refers to “12 major TV brands,” even though the headline and article contain 16. The headline and body are the relevant version.

What the latest ACSI data says

For a standardized comparison, ACSI’s 2025 television data is more useful than combining unrelated reviews. The study collected responses from July 2024 through June 2025 and included 16,205 completed surveys across its 2025 Household Appliance and Electronics Study. It measures only six named manufacturers, plus an “All Others” category.

ACSI rank Brand 2025 score Change from 2024
1 Samsung 83 -1%
2 (tie) Hisense 82 +1%
2 (tie) Vizio 82 +1%
4 (tie) LG 81 -1%
4 (tie) TCL 81 +3%
6 Sony 80 -1%

The industry average was 82, so the six named brands were separated by only three points. ACSI reported the strongest results for image quality, durability, setup, and remote usability. Repair outcomes, repair speed, technician helpfulness, and call-center satisfaction were weaker areas.

That produces a substantially different order from the 16-brand list: Samsung leads the current ACSI comparison, Hisense and Vizio tie for second, and Sony is last among the six measured brands. ACSI does not publish individual 2025 scores for Hitachi, FFalcon, RCA, Insignia, Amazon, Roku, Toshiba, JVC, Philips, or Panasonic, so those brands cannot be assigned verified ACSI positions.

What to know about each brand

Hitachi

Hitachi appears last in the published 16-brand order. That position should not be interpreted as a current U.S. satisfaction score. Availability, model quality, and after-sale support can vary significantly by country and retailer, making the exact model and warranty more important than the badge.

FFalcon

FFalcon is primarily an Australian-market brand operated by TCL Electronics Australia Pty Ltd. Its warranty terms apply to televisions purchased new in Australia from TCL or an authorized retailer. A U.S. shopper should not treat it as a normal domestic option simply because it appears in an online ranking; import costs, warranty limitations, and parts availability can erase any apparent discount.

RCA

RCA is commonly associated with low-cost televisions. That can make sense for a secondary room, but the financial risk is a shorter feature life or weaker support compared with a more established current model. Check the retailer’s return window and whether the warranty is handled by the seller or the brand before buying.

Insignia

Insignia is a retailer-oriented value brand. Its low upfront price can be attractive for basic streaming, guest rooms, or temporary use. Compare the price against similarly sized TCL, Hisense, and other entry-level sets, and include any extended warranty in the calculation rather than assuming the cheapest sticker price is the cheapest ownership option.

Amazon

Amazon-branded Fire TVs emphasize integration with the Fire TV platform and tend to compete on price. The relevant question is whether the software, advertising, voice features, and app ecosystem suit the household. A low price is less valuable if you later need a separate streaming device or dislike the interface.

  • Supports HDMI ARC - Sends audio directly from the HDMI jack to a compatible soundbar or AV receiver, removing the need for an extra cable.

Roku

Roku TVs make the operating system a central part of the purchase. They can be simple to use and inexpensive, but the experience depends on the television manufacturer behind the particular model. Compare panel quality, brightness, refresh rate, warranty terms, and software support—not just the Roku name.

Toshiba

Toshiba-branded Fire TVs are generally positioned as value products. They may be sensible when a discounted model meets basic viewing needs, but buyers should compare total value with similarly priced Amazon, Insignia, TCL, and Hisense sets. Look for independent testing of the exact model because performance varies within a brand.

JVC

JVC televisions can be difficult to evaluate as a single global product line because availability and licensing arrangements differ by market. Before buying, confirm who provides the warranty, where an authorized service center is located, and whether replacement parts are realistically available.

Philips

Philips TV availability and features vary by region. A television sold under the Philips name in one country may not have the same manufacturer, operating system, or support structure as one sold elsewhere. Confirm local warranty coverage and avoid assuming an international review applies to the model in your cart.

Panasonic

Panasonic returned to the U.S. television market on September 4, 2024, after about a decade away. Its initial U.S. lineup included the Z95A OLED, Z85A OLED, and W95A mini-LED series, in sizes from 55 to 85 inches, with availability through retailers including Amazon and Costco.com. The return improves choice for U.S. buyers, but it is too recent to support a long-term U.S. satisfaction conclusion. The specific seller’s return policy is especially important for an expensive OLED.

Vizio

Vizio tied Hisense for second place in ACSI’s 2025 results with a score of 82. That is a useful reminder that a value-focused brand is not automatically a poor satisfaction choice. Walmart completed its acquisition of Vizio on December 3, 2024; the deal was announced in February, but the transaction did not close until December. Buyers should still check current software, warranty, and support terms under the new ownership structure.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Hisense

Hisense also scored 82 in ACSI’s 2025 data, tying for second and matching the industry average. It often offers larger screens and features at lower prices than premium competitors. The sensible way to buy is to compare the exact panel technology, brightness, motion performance, and warranty rather than using the brand’s low price as a proxy for poor quality.

TCL

TCL tied LG for fourth in ACSI’s 2025 results, scoring 81 after a 3% increase from 2024. Its range spans basic Roku and Google TV models through more advanced mini-LED sets. Because the range is broad, a cheap entry-level TCL and a premium TCL should not be judged as if they were the same product.

Sony

Sony is fourteenth in the published 16-brand order but scored 80—the lowest of the six named brands in ACSI’s 2025 comparison. That is not necessarily a contradiction about picture quality. Satisfaction includes the ownership experience, while image quality is only one component. Sony may still be the right choice for a buyer who values its processing, motion handling, or ecosystem, but the brand should not be described as the current satisfaction leader.

Samsung

Samsung ranks fifteenth in the published list and first in ACSI’s current named-brand results, with a score of 83. It is a strong example of why different methodologies produce different outcomes. Samsung televisions often command a higher price than basic value models, so calculate whether the improvements you want—such as brightness, processing, gaming features, or build quality—justify the premium.

LG

LG is placed first in the published 16-brand order, but it scored 81 in ACSI’s 2025 data, tied with TCL and below Samsung. LG’s OLED range can be compelling for contrast and dark-room viewing, while its less expensive LCD models target a different buyer. Do not use the brand’s overall reputation to skip model-level comparisons, especially when assessing OLED burn-in coverage and retailer return rules.

How to turn a satisfaction ranking into a better purchase decision

  1. Set a total budget. Include sales tax, delivery, wall mounting, a streaming device if needed, and a possible extended warranty. A $500 television can become a $700 purchase quickly.
  2. Decide how long you expect to keep it. If the TV is for a short-term rental or spare bedroom, a lower-cost model may be rational. For a main-room television you expect to keep seven years, support and repairability deserve more weight.
  3. Compare exact model numbers. Brand-level rankings hide major differences between entry-level LED, premium LED, mini-LED, and OLED models.
  4. Read the warranty before checkout. Confirm the warranty period, exclusions, who pays shipping, whether in-home service is offered, and how dead pixels or panel failure are handled.
  5. Check the return policy. For a large TV, a return may require original packaging, a pickup fee, or a restocking charge. Those terms can matter more than a $30 sale discount.
  6. Price the replacement risk. If two models cost $100 apart and the cheaper one lasts only half as long, the apparent bargain is not a bargain. No ranking can predict an individual unit’s lifespan, so buying from a retailer with dependable returns reduces the risk.

What customer satisfaction does—and does not—tell you

Satisfaction data is useful for identifying broad ownership patterns, but it is not a reliability guarantee. ACSI separately considers factors such as durability, warranty coverage, service, image quality, setup, and remote usability. A high overall score does not mean every model from that brand will last longer, and a lower score does not make every television from that manufacturer a bad purchase.

Likewise, LifeStory Research’s 2024 television study measured trust, not overall customer satisfaction. It covered Samsung, Sony, LG Electronics, Panasonic, Toshiba, Vizio, Sharp, and Hitachi. Trust rankings and satisfaction rankings answer related but different questions and should not be merged into one supposedly precise order.

FAQ

Which TV brand has the highest current customer-satisfaction score?

Among the brands individually measured by ACSI in its 2025 U.S. television data, Samsung ranked first with a score of 83. The industry average was 82.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Is LG really the most satisfying TV brand?

Not according to the latest comparable ACSI data. LG scored 81 in 2025, tying TCL for fourth and trailing Samsung’s 83. LG’s position at the top of the 16-brand list comes from a mixed methodology rather than one uniform satisfaction survey.

Are Hisense and Vizio good value choices?

The latest ACSI results place both at 82, tied for second among the six named brands. That supports considering them as value options, but compare the exact model, warranty, return policy, and expected use before buying.

Does a high customer-satisfaction score mean a TV is reliable?

No. Satisfaction includes several parts of ownership, including image quality, setup, remote usability, service, and warranty experience. It is a useful signal, but it is not a guarantee that a specific model will last longer.

The Bottom Line

The 16-brand list is best treated as a buying reference, not a definitive customer-satisfaction table. The latest standardized U.S. results put Samsung first, Hisense and Vizio tied second, LG and TCL tied fourth, and Sony sixth among the brands measured. For your own budget, the exact model, warranty, return policy, and likely years of use matter more than whether a logo appears near the top or bottom of a mixed-source ranking.
