Xiaomi reportedly does not plan to launch a new Redmi gaming laptop in calendar year 2026. The answer came from Xiaomi product marketing director Ma Zhiyu in a reported Weibo user interaction—not a formal newsroom announcement. The decision appears to pause the Redmi gaming range, while regular RedmiBook laptops are still expected to receive updates.
What Xiaomi actually confirmed
Several reports published on December 24, 2025, say Ma Zhiyu answered “no” when asked whether Redmi would release a new gaming laptop in 2026. Gizmochina, iXBT, and GizChina Spain attribute the decision to that exchange.
The most accurate interpretation is: no new Redmi-branded gaming-laptop launch or refresh is currently planned for 2026. It does not prove that Xiaomi is permanently abandoning gaming laptops, canceling support for existing products, or ruling out a gaming computer under another brand.

Redmi is not abandoning laptops
The reported roadmap separates gaming laptops from conventional thin-and-light notebooks. RedmiBook models are still expected to receive updates, but they are not direct replacements for a Redmi G Pro gaming machine.
A conventional RedmiBook generally prioritizes portability, battery life, and everyday work. A gaming laptop instead needs sustained cooling, a higher-power processor, and a discrete GPU capable of maintaining performance during long gaming sessions. Buyers should not assume that a new RedmiBook will provide equivalent gaming performance.

Reports also mention a higher configuration with an Intel Core i9-14900HX. These specifications are configuration-dependent, so buyers must verify the exact CPU, GPU, memory, storage, display, and power settings for the listing they are considering. The reported top configuration was out of stock on Xiaomi’s online store at the time of one report; that was a historical stock update, not a current availability guarantee.
Should you buy the Redmi G Pro 2024?
The lack of a 2026 refresh does not automatically make the G Pro 2024 a bad purchase. It changes the price calculation. A 2024 gaming laptop should be attractive because of a substantial discount, not simply because it carries the Redmi name.

If a laptop is needed during 2026, compare the exact configurations rather than brand reputations. The financially relevant checklist is:

Redmi’s gaming range appears to be skipping a new 2026 model, while the broader Redmi laptop business continues through conventional notebooks.
