The Xiaomi 15 Ultra pricing leak was broadly right in direction, but “global price” was never one universal number. A February 12, 2025 report pointed to a European price of about €1,499 for a likely 512GB model. After launch, reporting put the phone at £1,299 in the UK and €1,599 in Europe, while Omdia also listed a €1,499 European starting price.
For supported European buyers, that meant Xiaomi kept the Ultra close to its previous premium positioning despite expectations of a substantial increase. But the apparent bargain became less clear after accounting for country-specific pricing, VAT, the separately sold charger and photography kit, import costs, and limited official availability outside supported markets.
What the Xiaomi 15 Ultra leak actually claimed
PhoneArena reported on February 12, 2025 that a Dealabs-sourced leak pointed to an expected price of approximately €1,499 in France and other European markets. The report appeared to refer to a single 512GB configuration, with RAM unspecified and a Chrome color possibly being the only available option.
That was not an official Xiaomi announcement, and it was not proof of a worldwide price. It was an early European pricing estimate based on secondary reporting. The careful reading was that Xiaomi might keep the phone near the Xiaomi 14 Ultra’s European positioning, rather than passing through the higher prices associated with the Xiaomi 15 series in China.

Leak versus launch pricing
The leak was directionally close, but the final numbers were not uniform across Europe. The following figures should be treated as launch-era references, not current prices in 2026:

The €1,499 and €1,599 figures should not be silently merged. The difference may reflect VAT, country-specific pricing, different official configurations, launch promotions, or different interpretations of “starting price.” The safest conclusion is that the leak’s €1,499 estimate was plausible, but buyers needed to check the exact country, storage tier, promotion, and seller.
The phone launched in China on February 27, 2025, followed by its international launch on March 2, 2025. The original February report therefore described expectations, not a confirmed retail price. TechRadar’s launch coverage provides the UK and European pricing references, while Omdia’s material gives the alternative €1,499 figure.
Why the price looked surprisingly restrained
The surprise was not that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra became cheap. At roughly €1,499 to €1,599 or £1,299, it remained a premium flagship. The surprise was that Xiaomi appeared to avoid a dramatic increase in supported European markets even though Chinese pricing had fueled expectations of a more expensive international model.
TechRadar said the UK price undercut comparable Galaxy S25 Ultra and iPhone 16 Pro Max pricing by approximately £50 and £100 respectively when comparing similar storage configurations. That comparison depends on storage and country, but it explains the launch narrative: Xiaomi positioned the 15 Ultra as a specialized camera flagship that could be slightly less expensive than leading rivals, rather than as a budget alternative.

For a personal-finance decision, “small price increase” and “good value” are different claims. The first is supported by the leak-versus-launch picture. The second depends on how much the buyer values the camera system, whether accessories are needed, and whether official local support is available.
What buyers received for the money
The global Xiaomi 15 Ultra paired flagship performance with unusually ambitious camera hardware. Its headline specifications included:

The central selling point was the Leica-branded quad-camera system:
- 50MP Sony LYT-900 main camera with a 1-inch sensor, f/1.63 aperture and optical image stabilization;
- 50MP 70mm floating telephoto camera;
- 200MP 100mm-equivalent ultra-telephoto camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor and OIS;
- 50MP ultrawide camera.
Xiaomi described the system as offering optical-level coverage from 14mm to 200mm and highlighted the Leica Summilux 23mm main camera, Leica color profiles and the imaging partnership. Those are manufacturer specifications and positioning claims, not independent measurements. The practical point is that the phone’s premium price was tied to long-range photography and camera flexibility more than to a general-purpose value proposition.

The hidden cost: the handset was not the complete setup
Buyers comparing the official global phone with a Chinese-market bundle needed to compare the total purchase, not just the handset headline.

The 90W adapter was sold separately, and wireless chargers were also separate purchases. Xiaomi likewise listed the Xiaomi 15 Ultra Photography Kit as a separate purchase, rather than a standard box inclusion.
That matters because a buyer who wants the advertised charging speed or camera-like grip may need to add those costs immediately. A launch promotion or trade-in bundle could change the calculation, but promotions were market-specific and should not be assumed to apply everywhere.
For a realistic budget, add:
- the local handset price and VAT;
- the compatible charger, if needed;
- the photography kit, if desired;
- shipping, import VAT and customs for an imported device;
- currency-conversion and payment fees;
- insurance and potential return shipping.
“Global” did not mean worldwide
Regional availability warning: The international Xiaomi 15 Ultra was not officially sold in the United States or Australia according to TechRadar’s launch summary. “Global” primarily meant selected markets outside China, not every country in the world.
That distinction is especially important for US readers. An imported handset may function on some networks, but an import is not equivalent to an officially supported US-market product. Network bands, carrier certification, repair access, parts availability, software features, return rights and warranty coverage are separate questions.

Xiaomi’s published international-warranty policy lists selected European, Asian and Latin American markets, but not the United States or Australia. Before buying, check the exact country and authorized sales channel rather than relying on the word “global” in a marketplace listing.

A Chinese import can look cheaper, particularly when the seller offers a different RAM or storage configuration. But the price difference may represent a transfer of risk rather than a genuine saving.
Check these items before importing
- Model number: Confirm the exact hardware model, not merely the product name.
- ROM: Establish whether the phone uses the official global ROM or Chinese ROM.
- Network bands: Compare LTE and 5G bands with your carrier. A phone that lacks a required band may have weak or absent service.
- Google services and languages: Do not assume a Chinese software build behaves like the official global version. Confirm Google services, language support and banking-app compatibility with the seller.
- eSIM: Xiaomi says eSIM availability varies by country and carrier.
- Charger: Verify the plug, charging standard and whether an adapter is included.
- Warranty: Confirm who handles repairs and whether the warranty is valid in your country.
- Accessories: Check whether the photography kit is bundled or sold separately.
- Returns: Read the marketplace’s return terms, including who pays international return shipping.
Xiaomi’s warranty policy says coverage lasts 24 months from the first purchase date for eligible purchases made through official authorized channels in covered markets. Service is handled through designated service centers in participating markets. The policy excludes unofficial-channel purchases and does not treat cross-region incompatibility as a device failure.
That means a lower-priced import can expose the buyer to a repair bill, a difficult return, incompatible bands or a software experience that is not equivalent to the official model. Read Xiaomi’s warranty exclusions before purchasing.

Who should buy the Xiaomi 15 Ultra?
European official-channel buyers
This is the clearest use case. If the phone is officially sold in your country, the price is within your budget, and you value long-range photography, the leak’s restrained pricing was genuinely good news. Check the final local price, included promotions and accessory costs before deciding.
US buyers
Proceed only as an informed importer. The lack of official US availability and the absence of the US from the cited international-warranty market list mean that network compatibility, repairs and returns require more diligence. A cheaper listing is not automatically cheaper after shipping, tax, accessories and risk.
Camera enthusiasts
The 1-inch main sensor, 200MP ultra-telephoto, Leica modes and 14mm-to-200mm advertised range make the phone relevant to buyers who will actually use those capabilities. The Photography Kit may improve handling, but it raises the total cost and is not standard equipment.

Ordinary flagship shoppers
If you mainly want dependable apps, broad carrier support, easy repairs and a mature accessory ecosystem, compare the complete ownership experience—not only camera specifications. Samsung and Apple may offer broader official-market availability and stronger ecosystem familiarity, although the Xiaomi may be more compelling for buyers who prioritize specialized camera hardware.
How to judge whether the “surprise” was good news
Use this three-part test:
- Start with the official local total: handset, VAT, charger and any required accessories.
- Price the risk: include warranty, repairs, network compatibility and return arrangements.
- Match the hardware to your use: pay the Ultra premium only if the camera system and performance justify it for you.
The leak was valuable because it correctly suggested that Xiaomi might keep the international Ultra near its previous premium price. It was not a promise that every European buyer would pay €1,499, nor evidence that the phone would be sold officially in the US.
