Short answer: Verizon’s Galaxy S24 preorder was a January 2024 launch promotion, and it has expired. Its headline “free stuff” was not one automatic bundle: Samsung’s separate double-storage offer sat alongside Verizon phone promotions that could depend on a qualifying plan, trade-in, device payments, bill credits, or extra connected-device lines. The exact Verizon terms varied by offer, and the surviving official material does not establish one universal bundle or a complete set of original terms.
What the deal actually combined
It helps to separate the incentives by who offered them. Samsung advertised a storage upgrade for qualifying U.S. preorders. Verizon’s launch-period offers involved its own phone discounts or trade-in promotions, generally subject to account and financing conditions. Any watch, tablet, or other accessory incentive should be treated as a separate offer unless the customer’s specific promotion terms say otherwise.

The official sources available for this historical offer do not preserve a complete Verizon preorder page showing every eligible SKU, plan, credit amount, and expiration condition. So it would be misleading to promise that every Verizon buyer received a phone, watch, tablet, and accessories at no cost.

Samsung’s U.S. offer applied to qualifying purchases during its January 2024 preorder promotion, advertised for January 17–30, 2024. Samsung also described the wider launch preorder period in terms that could extend to January 31 depending on the offer or purchase channel. Follow the dates and terms attached to the specific channel; do not treat them as one universal deadline. Samsung said participating carriers and retailers could apply their own restrictions or vary the offer.

Samsung’s launch announcement listed U.S. starting prices of $799.99 for the S24, $999.99 for the S24+, and $1,299.99 for the S24 Ultra. Those are launch-era starting prices, not current Verizon prices. The storage offer was limited by its terms and supply, and the Samsung.com rules should not automatically be assumed to govern a Verizon checkout.

When “free” still carries a cost
There are several different meanings of “free” in phone promotions:

- Free with a new line: The hardware discount may require a separate cellular line for a watch or tablet. That line can add recurring service charges, taxes, and fees even if the device payment is offset.
- Free accessory: A promotion can require an eligible purchase, registration, redemption claim, or submission before a deadline. Limited supply may also apply.
- Free storage: This is a price-tier upgrade, not a separate device or service. It can still depend on buying during the offer window through a participating channel.
Verizon’s general device-deals FAQ explains that promotions may be applied as monthly bill credits and that trade-ins must be received and verified. Eligibility, device condition, payment status, and account changes can affect credits. These are general mechanics, not proof of the exact terms of every 2024 S24 offer.

How to calculate the real price
Before treating a bundle as a saving, compare its total cost over the period you expect to keep the service:
Total cost = phone payments + required plan cost + connected-device line cost + taxes and fees − promotional credits.

- Write down the phone price and device-payment term.
- Subtract only the promotional credits you are actually eligible to receive, and note when they start and how long they run.
- Include the required phone plan, including any plan change needed to qualify.
- Add watch or tablet service charges, activation or upgrade fees, taxes, and any separate device payments.
- Check the trade-in requirements and the value you give up by surrendering your old phone.
- Find out what happens to the remaining device balance and future credits if you pay off early, change to an ineligible plan, cancel a line, or leave Verizon.
- Compare the extra device’s practical value to you—not just its list price—with the cost of maintaining its line.
A watch or tablet line is worthwhile only if you want the connected service or the total cost still makes sense for your use. A hardware discount can be outweighed by recurring service charges.

The carrier route was most plausible for someone who already wanted Verizon service, qualified for the relevant promotion, had a useful trade-in, and planned to remain with the carrier through the credit period. It could also make sense for a customer who genuinely wanted cellular service for a watch or tablet.

Buying unlocked from Samsung or another retailer was worth comparing for someone who expected to switch carriers, did not want an additional connected-device line, lacked an eligible trade-in, or preferred not to depend on recurring bill credits. Compare the actual trade-in and purchase terms available to you; a carrier credit might exceed a direct offer, but it can come with more conditions.
Existing Verizon customers should not assume they qualified for every new-line incentive. Nor should shoppers assume broad phrases such as “any phone, any condition” applied to every S24 promotion. Trade-in eligibility and condition rules are offer-specific, and the received device may be inspected. Check the exact promotion terms or the order confirmation before relying on an advertised value.
Current status
Expired: The Galaxy S24 launch began with Samsung’s announcement on January 17, 2024, and general availability on January 31, 2024. The preorder storage offer was tied to the January 2024 window. This is a historical explanation, not a current Verizon offer or a statement about today’s S24 inventory or pricing.
