The U.S. Black Friday 2024 Galaxy Z Fold6 deal was real, but the headline price needed careful reading. Samsung’s lowest reported effective price was about $399.99 for the 256GB model only after combining a $300 discount on selected Samsung.com-exclusive colors with up to $1,200 in qualifying trade-in credit. The promotion has expired and should not be treated as a current 2026 offer.
How the $399.99 Galaxy Z Fold6 price worked
The advertised price was an effective upgrade cost, not the universal cash price of a new, unlocked Galaxy Z Fold6. The calculation reported during Samsung’s Black Friday 2024 promotion was:

The crucial words are “up to.” Samsung did not give every customer $1,200. Contemporary coverage identified the Galaxy S24 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold5 as examples of devices that could qualify for the maximum enhanced credit. Other phones received different amounts, and the final credit could depend on condition and inspection.

What the Fold6 cost without a trade-in
Contemporary reports recorded different no-trade-in prices during the Black Friday period:
- SamMobile reported $799 after an $800 instant discount in its November 23, 2024 update.
- TechRadar later reported $1,099.99 without a trade-in, also describing an $800 reduction from the $1,899.99 launch price.
- 9to5Google reported approximately $1,100 for the 256GB unlocked model and about $1,220 for the 512GB model on November 27.
These figures should not be silently averaged into one definitive price. Samsung’s promotion may have changed during November, or the reports may have captured different dates, colors, storage tiers, or checkout configurations. The safest conclusion is that the Black Friday pricing varied, with reported no-trade-in prices ranging from approximately $799 to $1,099.99 depending on the promotion snapshot.

Which versions qualified?
TechRadar reported the $1,099.99 no-trade-in offer for the 256GB and 512GB versions in selected online-exclusive colors. Samsung’s launch materials identified Craft Black and Purity White as Samsung.com-exclusive colors, alongside regular colors including Silver Shadow, Pink, and Navy.

Not every storage tier, color, or sales channel necessarily received the same discount. Retail listings also need to be checked for unlocked status, carrier restrictions, new versus refurbished condition, warranty coverage, and return terms.
Was this really a Black Friday deal?
Yes, but it was an early Black Friday-period promotion rather than a price available only on Black Friday itself. Black Friday fell on November 29, 2024. TechRadar reported its $1,099.99 price on November 20, SamMobile updated its report on November 23, and 9to5Google published another snapshot on November 27.
That timing helps explain why shoppers and publications saw different prices. Samsung began promoting discounts before November 29, and offer terms could change as inventory, colors, or promotional stages changed.

Samsung.com offered the strongest version of the headline deal because the $300 exclusive-color discount and Samsung’s enhanced trade-in program worked together there. Retailers could offer simpler outright discounts, but readers should not assume that a retailer’s price included Samsung’s trade-in credit.
The November 27 9to5Google report put retailer-style pricing at approximately $1,100 for an unlocked 256GB Fold6 and $1,220 for the 512GB model. Those figures broadly supported an $800 cash discount, but they were separate from the maximum Samsung trade-in incentive.
Carrier promotions require another comparison. A low monthly payment may depend on installment financing, an eligible plan, activation requirements, and bill credits continuing for the full promotional term. A Samsung-direct unlocked price is not directly comparable with a carrier price unless those conditions are included.

The financial catch: your old phone had value
A $399.99 checkout figure did not make the upgrade economically equivalent to buying a $399 phone. The shopper also gave up the trade-in device. If that phone could have sold privately for more than Samsung’s credit, the trade-in reduced the convenience cost but may not have minimized the total financial cost.

Trade-in risks to check
The estimated credit shown during checkout was not necessarily final. Samsung’s device inspection could reduce or reject credit if the phone did not meet the promotion’s requirements. Relevant failure points can include:
- Cracked or nonfunctional screens
- Liquid damage or missing components
- A device that is blacklisted or otherwise ineligible
- Security locks that were not disabled
- Failure to reset and properly ship the phone
- A condition that does not match the submitted description
Samsung’s trade-in information illustrates the kinds of eligibility questions shoppers should review, although current terms should not be substituted for the exact 2024 promotion terms.
Why the Fold6 attracted buyers
The Galaxy Z Fold6’s appeal was its large foldable screen and multitasking format. Samsung’s launch announcement confirmed a 7.6-inch inner display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. Those features helped explain why a steep effective discount was attention-grabbing: buyers could obtain flagship-class foldable hardware at a much lower upgrade cost if they already owned a qualifying premium phone.
That value came with the ordinary trade-offs of choosing a foldable: a buyer must be comfortable with a heavier, more complex device than a conventional phone and with the financial risk of giving up a high-value handset to obtain the discount.
Who benefited most from the deal?
A strong fit
- You owned a Galaxy Z Fold5, Galaxy S24 Ultra, or another device receiving unusually high credit.
- You specifically wanted a large inner screen and foldable multitasking.
- You preferred an unlocked phone purchased directly from Samsung.
- You had confirmed the trade-in condition and could complete the transaction within the required window.
A questionable fit
- You had no trade-in and assumed the phone would cost $399.
- Your existing phone was damaged, locked, blacklisted, or worth more through private sale.
- You needed the best camera, lightest design, or lowest long-term ownership risk.
- You were comparing a direct purchase with a carrier offer without including plan and bill-credit obligations.
Bottom line on the historical headline
The headline was justified as a description of an unusually aggressive promotion, but not as a universal sale price. The Galaxy Z Fold6 could reach approximately $399.99 only for shoppers who combined the Samsung.com-exclusive-color discount with the maximum qualifying trade-in credit. Without a trade-in, contemporary reports placed the phone substantially higher—approximately $799 to $1,099.99 depending on the date and configuration.
The promotion is over. In 2026, any Fold6 listing should be evaluated as current, possibly older, refurbished, open-box, or limited inventory rather than assumed to reproduce Samsung’s Black Friday 2024 terms.
