Verdict: The Dell SE2725HM is a sensible budget monitor at $109.99 if you want a large IPS screen for schoolwork, office tasks, streaming, or casual gaming. However, the 21% discount is price-sensitive: Dell listings have surfaced at both $109.99 and $129.99, with a newer listing showing $129.99 and temporary unavailability. Check the Dell product page or retailer checkout before buying.
What is the Dell SE2725HM?
The deal refers to the Dell 27 Monitor SE2725HM, a 27-inch Full HD monitor with an IPS panel and a maximum refresh rate of 100Hz. Its key specifications are:
- 1920×1080 resolution
- 100Hz maximum refresh rate over HDMI
- 8ms normal response time and 5ms fast mode
- 250 cd/m² typical brightness
- 1,000:1 typical contrast ratio
- 72% NTSC color gamut
- 178-degree horizontal and vertical viewing angles
- One HDMI 1.4 input and one VGA input

Why $109.99 was an attractive price
At $109.99, the SE2725HM offers three useful upgrades over a basic older monitor: a larger 27-inch workspace, IPS viewing angles, and 100Hz refresh instead of the traditional 60Hz. That combination is appealing for students, home-office users, and anyone replacing a smaller or aging display.

The reported 21% saving also makes mathematical sense if the comparison price was about $139.99: $109.99 is approximately $30, or 21%, lower. But that does not mean the offer is permanently available. Dell pages have also shown $129.99, and one newer result indicated the monitor was temporarily out of stock. Treat $109.99 as a historical or time-limited deal price unless the checkout page confirms it.
What 100Hz actually improves
A 100Hz refresh rate can make cursor movement, scrolling, window dragging, and compatible games look smoother than they do at 60Hz. It is a worthwhile everyday improvement, especially when moving between multiple windows or browsing long pages.
It does not turn the SE2725HM into a premium gaming monitor. The display remains limited to 1080p, has a basic 5ms fast-mode response time, and lacks the connectivity and advanced features commonly sought by competitive players. Smoothness also depends on the computer producing a suitable frame rate.

Dell specifies 100Hz support over HDMI. VGA has lower supported frequency limits, and docks, adapters, KVMs, graphics drivers, or older computers can prevent 100Hz from appearing as an option.
The major compromise: 27-inch 1080p is not especially sharp
The SE2725HM’s 1920×1080 resolution is spread across a 27-inch panel, producing roughly 81 pixels per inch. That is usable for normal documents, browsing, streaming, and schoolwork, but text and fine interface details will look softer than they do on a 24-inch 1080p monitor or a 27-inch 1440p display.

This matters most if you sit close to the screen, read small text for hours, edit photos, or want a particularly crisp productivity setup. A 24-inch 1080p model offers greater pixel density at the same resolution. A 27-inch 1440p monitor offers more workspace and sharper text, although it may cost more.
Choose the Dell if screen size and low price matter more than maximum text sharpness. Skip it if you are specifically seeking a high-density work display.

The IPS panel provides wide 178-degree viewing angles and generally more consistent image presentation when you are not sitting directly in front of the screen. It is a good fit for shared viewing and general office use.
That specification should not be confused with professional color performance. Dell lists 72% NTSC coverage and a 1,000:1 typical contrast ratio, so the monitor is better treated as a general-purpose display than as a wide-gamut, HDR, or color-critical workstation.
Dell also includes ComfortView Plus and advertises TÜV Rheinland 3-star eye-comfort certification. These features are intended to reduce blue-light emissions while retaining color quality and may make long sessions more comfortable for some people. They are not medical protection against eye strain. Brightness, glare, viewing distance, room lighting, posture, and regular breaks still matter.

Connectivity and stand limitations
The low price comes with a simple feature set:
- Only one HDMI and one VGA input: switching between two modern computers may require a cable swap, adapter, or KVM.
- No USB-C: it is not a one-cable laptop docking solution.
- No DisplayPort: desktop users should confirm that their graphics output can connect through HDMI.
- Tilt-only stand: there is no height, swivel, or pivot adjustment.
- No listed built-in speakers or headphone output: plan to use separate speakers or headphones.
The 100×100mm VESA pattern can help if you want to use a monitor arm or wall mount, but the mount is an additional purchase.

Is it good for gaming?
For casual gaming, the SE2725HM is reasonable. Its 100Hz refresh rate can make motion feel smoother than 60Hz, and 1080p is relatively easy for budget laptops and entry-level graphics hardware to drive.
It is not the right choice for competitive gaming if you need a much higher refresh rate, very fast response behavior, DisplayPort, adaptive-sync features, or more detailed 1440p imagery. Dell’s specifications also do not position this model as an HDR or enthusiast gaming display.
Who should buy it?
- Students who want a large, inexpensive screen for research, documents, and video.
- Home-office users upgrading from an older 60Hz monitor.
- Casual gamers who want smoother everyday motion without paying for a high-refresh gaming display.
- Buyers who prefer a mainstream manufacturer and need VGA compatibility.
- Users who prioritize a 27-inch workspace over the sharper text of a smaller 1080p monitor.
Who should skip it?
- Anyone who wants 1440p or 4K resolution.
- Competitive gamers seeking high-refresh performance.
- Laptop users who need USB-C video, charging, and docking through one cable.
- People who need DisplayPort, multiple modern inputs, or an integrated USB hub.
- Users who require height adjustment, swivel, or pivot positioning.
- Photographers, designers, and editors who need wide-gamut or professionally accurate color.
- Anyone expecting built-in speakers, HDR performance, or a particularly sharp 27-inch image.
How to confirm 100Hz is working
- Connect the computer directly to the monitor through HDMI.
- Open the operating system’s display settings and select the Dell display.
- Choose 1920×1080 resolution and select the highest available refresh rate.
- If 100Hz is missing, test without a dock, adapter, KVM, or extension cable.
- Update the graphics driver and try another HDMI cable if necessary.
Do not assume every VGA setup or adapter will deliver 100Hz. Dell’s published specifications associate the 100Hz mode with HDMI.
Price check and buying advice
The strongest value case is $109.99 delivered, provided the seller offers a normal return policy and the applicable Dell or retailer warranty. Confirm whether the displayed amount requires a coupon, membership, shipping charge, or other condition.
At $129.99 or more, the decision becomes less automatic. Compare the price with Dell’s smaller SE2425HM family alternative and with available 27-inch 1440p monitors. A 24-inch 1080p model may be the better productivity choice if text sharpness matters, while a modestly more expensive 1440p monitor may provide a more satisfying long-term upgrade.
