Short answer: the Samsung 77-inch S84D OLED was a credible Best Buy deal at $1,799.99, but it should not be treated as a live offer today. Best Buy’s later records show the new-condition television unavailable, while a $1,259.99 clearance listing was also sold out. The television is worth considering only if you find a genuinely new unit with a normal return policy and full warranty at $1,799 or less.
The exact product is the 2024 Samsung 77-inch S84D Series 4K OLED Smart Tizen TV, model QN77S84DAEXZA or QN77S84DBEXZA—not the similarly named S85D or S90D.
Was the $1,799 Samsung S84D deal real?
Yes, the price was historically credible. Best Buy listed the 77-inch S84D at about $1,799.99, against a displayed comparison value of $1,799.99 in one product record and a deal headline that compared it with $3,299. At $1,799, the claimed reduction from $3,299 is $1,500, or approximately 45.5%.
That does not prove the television consistently sold for $3,299. Deal-history coverage shows the S84D reaching approximately $1,599.99 at Best Buy in late 2024. Therefore, $1,799 was a good large-screen OLED price, but not necessarily the model’s lowest historical price.

More importantly, the latest supplied Best Buy records show the new product unavailable. A later clearance listing showed $1,259.99 but was also marked sold out or unavailable. A product page remaining online is not the same as inventory being available for checkout.

What you get for the money
- 77-inch class OLED display: OLED pixels illuminate themselves, producing deep blacks and avoiding much of the blooming commonly associated with LCD televisions.
- 4K resolution: Suitable for high-resolution streaming, movies, sports, and console gaming.
- Samsung Tizen: Samsung’s smart-TV platform with mainstream streaming apps and Samsung ecosystem features.
- NQ4 AI Gen2 processor: Listed in Best Buy’s product material for this model.
- HDR support: Retailer specifications list HDR10 and HDR10+. Samsung televisions generally do not support Dolby Vision, so buyers with Dolby Vision libraries should account for that limitation.
- Smart-home features: Built-in Alexa, plus compatibility with Samsung SmartThings and Google Home.
- Audio features: Best Buy lists Dolby Atmos support and Object Tracking Sound Lite. These features do not make the built-in speakers equivalent to a dedicated soundbar or receiver.
- Included accessories: Stand, SolarCell TM2360E remote, power cable, and user manual.

Is $1,799 a good value?
For a new 77-inch OLED with a standard retailer return policy and manufacturer warranty, $1,799 can still be reasonable. The screen size and OLED contrast are the main value drivers, particularly for movie fans and home-theater buyers.
However, the price deserves context:

Who should buy the S84D?
It makes the most sense for buyers who:
- Want OLED black levels and contrast more than maximum full-screen brightness.
- Have a living room or theater large enough to benefit from a 77-inch screen.
- Prefer Samsung’s Tizen interface, SmartThings integration, or Samsung audio ecosystem.
- Find a new unit at $1,799 or less with clear warranty and return terms.
- Watch varied content rather than leaving one channel, news ticker, game HUD, or computer desktop on screen for long periods.
Who should skip it?
- Bright-room viewers: A good Mini-LED LCD may be more suitable for daytime sports or rooms with intense ambient light.
- Dolby Vision users: Verify the final specification sheet, but Samsung’s relevant HDR support is centered on HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG rather than Dolby Vision.
- Newest-generation shoppers: This is a 2024 model and may now be clearance inventory.
- Buyers concerned about burn-in: OLED can experience image retention or burn-in, particularly with repeated static content. Use pixel-care features and vary what you watch.
- Feature-focused gamers: Confirm the exact S84D specifications for refresh rate, HDMI bandwidth, VRR, ALLM, and supported PC resolutions. Do not assume that specifications from the S85D, S90D, or S95D apply.

OLED care and warranty coverage
Mix content, avoid leaving static logos or desktops displayed for extended periods, and use the television’s screen-maintenance tools. Burn-in coverage varies by manufacturer warranty, retailer protection plan, and location. Do not assume it is covered unless the written terms expressly say so.

Installation and room fit
Best Buy specifications list the set at approximately 67.5 inches wide, with a listed depth of about 1.8 inches without the stand and 14.2 inches with it. A refurbished specification record lists weight of roughly 77.8 pounds with the stand.

Atmos support describes a supported audio format or processing capability, not necessarily powerful bass or convincing surround sound. Budget separately for a soundbar or AV receiver if you are building a large-room theater.

- Check whether the unit is new, open-box, refurbished, clearance, or a display model.
- Confirm that the listing is sold by the retailer rather than an unidentified marketplace seller.
- Enter your ZIP code to verify shipping, delivery, or pickup.
- Check the complete price after tax, delivery, installation, and financing conditions.
- Read the return window and panel-damage or dead-pixel policy.

The Samsung S84D was a legitimate large-screen OLED bargain when sold new for $1,799, but the deal was not the model’s historical low and the latest supplied Best Buy records show no dependable new inventory. Buy only if you find a new, fully warrantied unit at that price or less and specifically want Samsung’s OLED contrast and Tizen ecosystem. Treat clearance or refurbished offers separately, and skip any listing that cannot clearly establish condition, return rights, and warranty coverage.
