The Sonos Era 300 deal behind this headline was a September 6, 2025 promotion: Engadget reported a price of $359, down $90 (20%) from the then-listed $449. That historical offer is not the current price. Sonos’ U.S. product page currently surfaced at $379, reduced from $479, but pricing and availability can change.
Price and availability checked August 18, 2026: Sonos’ U.S. listing showed the Era 300 at $379 from $479 and labeled it “Save 20%.” Confirm the price, color, stock and shipping options on the product page before ordering.
What happened to the $359 Era 300 deal?
Engadget reported on September 6, 2025, that the Era 300 was $359, compared with a then-listed price of $449. The $90 reduction works out to exactly 20%. It was part of a Labor Day and back-to-school sale, and the report said the deal was available from Sonos and Amazon. That report documents a past promotion, not a guarantee that either retailer still offers $359.

What does the Era 300 offer?
The Era 300 is a powered, mains-connected speaker built around spatial audio, including Dolby Atmos support. Six drivers—four tweeters and two woofers—are arranged around the enclosure, with sound directed forward, to the sides and upward. Sonos also lists six Class-D amplifiers, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Apple AirPlay 2, Trueplay room tuning, touch controls, voice-control microphones with a physical microphone-disconnect switch, and humidity resistance. It is not described as waterproof.
Its dimensions are 7.28 inches high, 10.24 inches wide and 6.30 inches deep (185 × 260 × 160 mm); it weighs 9.85 pounds (4.47 kg). Measure shelf depth and allow room around the speaker before buying: it is broad and substantial for a single-room unit. Sonos lists line-in support, but an adapter may be needed and is an additional purchase if your setup requires it.

What spatial audio sounds like—and what it does not promise
With supported Dolby Atmos Music, the Era 300 is designed to create a wider, more enveloping presentation by sending sound in multiple directions, including toward the ceiling. You need compatible Atmos content and service support to hear a native Atmos mix. A regular stereo track remains stereo; the speaker’s ability to make playback feel broad does not turn that recording into an Atmos mix.

Ceiling height, shape, reflective surfaces and speaker placement can affect the perceived height and spaciousness. A very high, vaulted or irregular ceiling, or a room with heavily absorbent surfaces, may make the upward effect less apparent. One Era 300 can provide an immersive presentation; a pair of identical speakers can be configured as a stereo pair for a larger, more coherent soundstage.

Setup, placement and ownership costs
The Era 300 is not a battery speaker or a Bluetooth-only device. Normal Sonos operation requires power, internet access, Wi-Fi and the Sonos app on a compatible device running the latest generation of the app. Bluetooth is available, but it does not remove the Wi-Fi and app-based setup requirements for the speaker’s regular Sonos features.
- Plan for a powered location: You need a nearby electrical outlet; there is no battery operation for taking it outside or moving it room to room without power.
- Check the room: Leave sufficient shelf or stand space for its width and depth. A stand can help with positioning, but it is not necessary if you have a suitable shelf.
- Budget only for what your setup needs: A line-in adapter is relevant only if you want to connect an analog source. A second speaker, stands, soundbar or subwoofer are optional additions for particular stereo or home-theater arrangements, not requirements for using one Era 300.
- Verify the order details: Sonos listings can vary by color and availability. Check the selected finish, shipping eligibility, local pickup and checkout price for your location.
The Sonos product page advertises free shipping, 30-day returns and a price-match promise, with terms applying. Review the current terms on the Sonos Era 300 listing before relying on any of them.

Is $379 a good price, and who should buy it?
At $379, the speaker is $100 below the $479 list price shown on the surfaced Sonos page. It is $20 more than the reported September 2025 price, so someone who missed that promotion is not necessarily looking at a dramatically different outlay. That makes the current listing a meaningful discount for a buyer who specifically wants the Era 300’s spatial-audio and Sonos features; it does not establish a record-low price.

- Consider it if you regularly listen to Dolby Atmos Music, want a premium powered speaker for a living room or listening space, value Sonos multi-room playback, or already use Sonos products. It can also be part of a Sonos home-theater system; check that your exact soundbar and intended speaker arrangement are compatible.
- Look elsewhere if you need battery life, want a straightforward Bluetooth speaker without app or Wi-Fi setup, have limited shelf space, or mainly want maximum volume or bass per dollar. If you rarely play spatial-audio content, the Era 300’s defining feature may not justify its premium.
Would two Era 100 speakers or a portable model be better?
Sonos positions the smaller Era 100 as a less expensive alternative for buyers who want Sonos multi-room functionality without making the Era 300’s spatial-audio presentation the priority. The Sonos page surfaced the Era 100 at $189 from $219; that price can change. Two smaller speakers may suit someone who values conventional left-right stereo separation and flexible placement more than Atmos-style immersion. They are not universally a better choice: the right comparison depends on what you listen to and how you want it presented.

For buyers who need a battery-powered speaker for outdoor use or moving around the home, Sonos’ Move 2 is the more relevant comparison. Sonos’ page surfaced it at $399 from $499, also subject to change. It is designed for portability rather than the Era 300’s fixed-location spatial-audio role. Neither alternative’s displayed price should be assumed available at checkout.
A single Era 300 can also be used within a Sonos home-theater setup, but it is not by itself a complete multichannel Atmos system or equivalent to a pair of surround speakers. Confirm compatibility with your specific soundbar and placement plan; the full system can cost substantially more than the discounted speaker.
