The M3 iPad Air’s lowest reported price was $449 for the 11-inch, 128GB Wi‑Fi model, after Amazon and Best Buy took $150 off the lineup in August 2025. That promotion is historical—not a price confirmed as live on August 16, 2026. A separate B&H clearance promotion briefly returned the 11-inch model to $449 in May 2026.
If you find a new M3 iPad Air at $449 today, it is a strong value for browsing, streaming, note-taking and general productivity—but compare its price with the newer iPad Air generation before buying.
Every Wi‑Fi M3 iPad Air price in the reported sale
MacRumors reported the following $150 reductions at Amazon and Best Buy in August 2025. These were advertised U.S. prices for new Wi‑Fi models, before tax, and may have varied by stock, color and retailer.

MacRumors described these prices as record lows at the time, but that should not be treated as a permanent price cut or an all-time low through 2026.

Cellular models were discounted too
The reported promotion also included cellular configurations, although the coverage did not independently list every storage tier. The confirmed examples were:
- 11-inch, 128GB Wi‑Fi + Cellular: $599, reduced from $749.
- 13-inch, 128GB Wi‑Fi + Cellular: $799, reduced from $949.
Do not assume that every cellular capacity or color received the same price. Cellular iPads also require a compatible carrier plan, adding an ongoing cost that is not included in the tablet’s sale price.
Why the $449 price was significant
Apple launched the M3 iPad Air in March 2025 at $599 for the 11-inch Wi‑Fi model and $799 for the 13-inch Wi‑Fi model. The company announced 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB capacities, along with blue, purple, starlight and space gray finishes. U.S. availability began March 12, 2025, according to Apple’s launch announcement.
That means $449 was a retailer promotion, not Apple’s regular price. The August offer applied to the listed Wi‑Fi models at participating retailers; it did not mean the entire M3 range permanently started at $449.
Apple’s M3 iPad Air supports Apple Intelligence and works with Apple Pencil Pro, Apple Pencil USB‑C and the optional Magic Keyboard designed for the model. Apple claimed the M3 version was nearly twice as fast as the M1 iPad Air and up to 3.5 times faster than the A14 Bionic model; those are Apple’s comparisons, not independent test results.
A later $449 clearance offer was different
On May 25, 2026, AppleInsider reported that B&H offered the 11-inch, 128GB M3 iPad Air for $449 as a one-day inventory-clearance promotion. That offer was limited to the purple finish and available while supplies lasted. It should not be merged with the broader Amazon and Best Buy promotion from August 2025.

Prices and stock can change quickly. Check the specific retailer listing before treating $449 as an active deal. Confirm that the listing is for the M3 model, is new rather than refurbished or open-box, and is sold and shipped by the retailer or a reputable authorized seller.

Best value: 11-inch, 128GB Wi‑Fi
At $449, the entry-level 11-inch model is the obvious value choice for web browsing, streaming, schoolwork, note-taking, casual gaming and travel. It has the same M3 processor as the more expensive versions.
The compromise is storage. 128GB may be limiting if you keep large games, downloaded movies, photo libraries or creative projects on the iPad. Because storage cannot be upgraded later, buyers planning several years of use should consider 256GB.
Best balance for many buyers: 11-inch, 256GB Wi‑Fi
The 256GB version costs $100 more than the reported 128GB sale model and gives substantially more room for apps and offline files. It is a sensible choice if you want the compact 11-inch design but regularly store media or large applications.
For creative work and large files: 512GB or 1TB
Choose 512GB or 1TB for large game libraries, extensive video downloads, photo and video projects, drawing files or long-term ownership without frequent storage management. The processor is unchanged, so these upgrades buy capacity rather than speed.
For multitasking: 13-inch
The 13-inch model is better for split-screen work, document editing, drawing, sheet music and large canvases. It is less portable and costs more: the reported entry price was $649 rather than $449.

For working away from Wi‑Fi: cellular
Wi‑Fi + Cellular is worthwhile if you frequently work outside reliable Wi‑Fi and do not want to tether to a phone. Include the cost of activation and monthly service when comparing it with a Wi‑Fi model.

The tablet price does not include an Apple Pencil or keyboard. Apple announced U.S. launch prices of $269 for the 11-inch Magic Keyboard and $319 for the 13-inch version. A Magic Keyboard can substantially reduce the savings compared with a conventional laptop. Apple Pencil Pro is also an optional purchase, not an included accessory.
M3 iPad Air versus a newer iPad Air
By 2026, the M3 model is no longer necessarily the newest iPad Air generation. The right comparison is the live price gap, not the original $150 discount alone.

- Choose the newer generation if the price difference is modest, you expect to keep the tablet for many years, or you specifically need its newer platform features and longer expected support runway.
- Consider a certified refurbished M3 if it is meaningfully cheaper and you are comfortable with configuration-limited stock, warranty terms and return conditions. Apple has listed refurbished 11-inch, 128GB M3 models through its Certified Refurbished Store.
A standard iPad may be a better fit for basic browsing, streaming and schoolwork at a lower cost. The iPad Pro is aimed at buyers who need its higher-end display or professional performance and is usually unnecessary for everyday tablet use.
How to verify a $449 listing
- Check that the product name says iPad Air with M3, not M2, M4 or standard iPad.
- Confirm the configuration is 11-inch, 128GB and Wi‑Fi; “starting at $449” does not describe every model.
- Make sure the device is new, not refurbished, open-box or marketplace inventory.
- Check whether a coupon, membership or checkout promotion is required.
- Look for color restrictions, inventory limits and an expiration date.
- Confirm the price is before tax and does not depend on trade-in credit.
- Review who sells and fulfills the item, plus the return policy.
Amazon, Best Buy and B&H may show different stock, colors and seller conditions. Use the retailer’s specific listing rather than relying only on an old deal report. If affiliate links are used, they should be clearly disclosed.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: The M3 iPad Air reached $449 in a real $150-off retailer promotion, but that was a dated deal rather than a permanent price. At $449 for a new 11-inch, 128GB Wi‑Fi model, it is still compelling for everyday use. Compare the current price of the newer iPad Air first, and choose 256GB or more if your apps, media or creative files will quickly outgrow 128GB.
