The Logitech G502 Lightspeed wireless gaming mouse was listed at Amazon for $79.99 on February 20, 2025. HotHardware described that as $70 off MSRP, or about 47% off, and close to a reported holiday-season low of $73.14. Those are historical prices—not a live deal: the available information does not verify current stock or pricing.
If you find a listing now, judge it by the exact model, seller, condition and current price. The G502 Lightspeed can still make sense for someone who wants a substantial, button-rich mouse with adjustable weights, but its older, heavier design and up-to-60-hour battery rating are trade-offs. The original deal roundup also listed several alternatives, whose prices below are historical too.
What the original $70-off deal actually was
The product was the Logitech G502 Lightspeed Wireless Gaming Mouse, not the wired G502 Hero or one of the newer G502 X models. In its February 20, 2025 roundup, HotHardware reported an Amazon price of $79.99 and a $70 saving against the stated MSRP. The article also said the mouse had reached $73.14 during the 2024 holiday season. That price history is attributed to the roundup; it does not establish an all-retailer, all-condition record.
A discount measured against MSRP does not by itself show that a listing is a good current value. The promotion may have ended, and no current retailer price, seller, condition or warranty status is verified here. Treat $79.99 as a snapshot of the February 2025 offer—not a price to expect today.

Why the G502 Lightspeed appealed to gamers
The G502 Lightspeed combines a familiar, right-handed G502 shape with a Hero 25K sensor, a reported 100–25,600 DPI range, 11 customizable buttons and macro support. Its controls may suit players who want game commands, push-to-talk or shortcuts under their fingers. The extra buttons are not an automatic advantage, though: they can feel crowded or be pressed accidentally, and most players do not need to use the sensor’s maximum DPI setting.
It also has a hyper-fast, free-spinning scroll-wheel mode, RGB lighting and adjustable weights. The weights let owners tune the feel, but they add to a design that is already on the heavier side. Wireless operation can be switched to wired use while charging, which is useful if the battery runs low.

The reported battery rating is up to 60 hours. “Up to” is a maximum, not a promise of everyday runtime; RGB lighting and usage affect battery life. Turning down or disabling lighting can help stretch a charge.

G502 Lightspeed vs. G502 X Plus
The G502 X Plus is the newer comparison in the original roundup. Both models were described as wireless mice that can be used while charging, with a Hero 25K sensor, a free-spin scroll-wheel mode and RGB lighting. The main distinction is their design emphasis: the Lightspeed offers adjustable weights, while the X Plus removes that system in favor of a lighter chassis and a longer rated battery life.

The two prices imply a $25 gap in that particular February 2025 snapshot. The X Plus’s $104.99 price depended on a coupon, and neither figure should be treated as current. The 130-hour rating, like the Lightspeed’s 60-hour figure, is an “up to” claim; lighting and use can change actual runtime.
Choose the Lightspeed if you want the classic G502 shape, adjustable weights and numerous programmable controls—and it is meaningfully cheaper than the X Plus. Consider the X Plus if you prefer a lighter design, value longer rated battery life and the price difference is small. If you want an ultralight mouse, a left-handed shape, a compact fit or a large MMO button grid, neither model is an obvious match.

How to judge a G502 listing now
Before buying, check the listing rather than relying on a headline or an old discount figure:
- Confirm the model name. G502 Hero is wired; G502 Lightspeed is the older wireless model; G502 X Plus is a different, newer model. Compare the full name on the product page and in the checkout cart.
- Check seller and condition. Confirm whether the mouse is new, used, renewed or refurbished, who sells it, who ships it, and what return and warranty terms apply. Marketplace availability and coverage are not established by the historical deal.
- Read the final checkout price. If a discount depends on a coupon, verify the box is available to you and the discount appears in the total. The old X Plus offer, for example, required a listed $10 coupon.
- Compare the actual price gap. The older Lightspeed is most compelling when it costs substantially less than the X Plus. A claimed saving against MSRP is not enough if the newer model is close in price.
- Consider fit and weight. The G502’s right-handed thumb-rest shape and substantial feel will not suit everyone. People with small hands or fingertip grips should compare dimensions and weight before ordering; left-handed buyers should look elsewhere.
- Check what is included. Confirm whether the offer is for the mouse alone or a bundle. Do not assume a charging accessory or other add-on is included unless the listing says so.
Bottom line for shoppers
The February 2025 G502 Lightspeed offer was reported at $79.99, $70 below the stated MSRP. It was a strong historical price for buyers who wanted the G502’s heavier, adjustable-weight design and 11 programmable buttons. It is not evidence of a current deal. If a listing you find is still substantially cheaper than the G502 X Plus and the Lightspeed’s shape suits you, it may be worth considering; if the prices are close, the X Plus’s lighter design and longer rated battery life may matter more. For a current purchase, verify the listing and checkout terms rather than assuming an old promotion remains active.
