But the documented Amazon Prime Day offer dates to October 9, 2025; it is not verified as available now. In 2026, check the listing’s price, condition, storage, seller, warranty, and return terms before treating it as a bargain.
What the $699.99 deal actually was
Android Headlines reported the Galaxy Z Flip6 at $699.99 on Amazon on October 9, 2025, during a Prime Day promotion. Samsung’s U.S. launch price was $1,099.99, so the markdown was exactly $400, or about 36.4% off—not more than $400. The deal report establishes that price at that time, not current availability.
The report does not establish every listing detail a buyer would need: exact storage, whether the device was new or renewed, its lock status, seller, warranty, or any checkout requirements. Do not assume that a current listing at the same price has the same terms. The total cost can also change with sales tax, shipping, a required membership, or optional protection.

Samsung now sells the newer Galaxy Z Flip7, whose U.S. comparison materials list a $1,099.99 starting price. That makes a genuinely new Flip6 at $699.99 potentially attractive, but a past discount is not a reason to buy an older model at any price. Check Samsung’s Flip7 comparison page and the retailer’s current checkout price before deciding.

What you get for the money
The Flip6 is a clamshell Android phone: it folds to a compact shape and opens to a full-size screen. Its 6.7-inch internal display has a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate; the 3.4-inch outer FlexWindow handles selected widgets, notifications, and quick interactions without opening the phone. The small folded footprint is the defining reason to choose it over a conventional phone.
Samsung’s U.S. specification sheet lists a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform for Galaxy, 12GB of RAM, and 256GB or 512GB of storage. It also lists a 50MP main rear camera, a 12MP ultrawide, a 10MP selfie camera, a 4,000mAh battery, 187g weight, and IP48 rating. The 50MP main camera is a meaningful hardware step from the Flip5’s lower-resolution main camera, but the phone does not list a dedicated telephoto camera. If you often photograph distant subjects, a conventional phone with a true telephoto lens may be a better fit. The cover screen is useful, but do not assume every app works equally well on it; the experience depends on the app and the available cover-screen controls.

Samsung announced seven years of operating-system and security updates for the Flip6 generation. That is valuable support for an older model, but it does not mean every future feature will arrive on it, or that all features will remain identical. The phone launched with Android 14 and One UI 6.1.1; check the installed software and Samsung’s current support information rather than treating launch software as its current version. The compromises a discount cannot remove
Battery life is use-dependent
The 4,000mAh capacity is larger than the Flip5’s, but capacity alone does not establish how long a charge will last. Heavy camera use, gaming, navigation, 5G, high brightness, weak reception, and frequent use of the inner display can all increase drain. If dependable long battery life is a top priority, compare conventional phones and look for model-specific testing rather than assuming the Flip6 will last a full day for every user.
Foldable screens require more care
The inner display is not equivalent to a slab phone’s conventional glass screen. Grit, sharp objects, concentrated pressure, and improper removal of a screen protector can damage it. The crease is part of the design and can be more or less noticeable depending on the light and viewing angle. A case may help protect the outer panels and hinge area, but it cannot make the inner display drop-proof or eliminate repair risk.

IP48 is an ingress-protection rating, not a claim that the phone is fully dustproof, rugged, or safe from drops. Be especially cautious if you work around fine dust, sand, or debris. A screen or hinge repair can also be a much larger expense than the price of an ordinary case; get a current repair quote for the exact device and region instead of relying on a generic estimate.
Flip6 versus newer Flip models
The Flip7 is the direct newer-generation alternative. Samsung describes it as thinner, with a larger display design and a newer hinge approach. Its listed dimensions are 13.7mm folded and 6.5mm unfolded, compared with 14.9mm folded and 6.9mm unfolded for the Flip6. Samsung lists the Flip7 at a $1,099.99 starting price in its U.S. comparison materials. If a current sale brings the Flip7 close to the Flip6’s actual checkout price, the newer model’s design and remaining resale value may justify paying more. The Flip7 FE is another current-generation option, but the available September 2025 Samsung MSRP file is only a dated reference: it lists $899.99 for 128GB and $959.99 for 256GB. Those figures are not guaranteed 2026 street prices. Compare actual prices and configurations; a new Flip6 at $699.99 may be better value if the FE costs substantially more, while a modest price gap could make the newer model preferable.
Who should buy the Flip6 at $699.99?
- Buy it if the foldable form is the point. The small folded size and cover-screen interactions are distinctive benefits you will not get from a standard slab phone.
- Consider it as an upgrade from an older Flip. The stronger processor, 50MP main camera, larger battery capacity, and extended support policy make it a substantial-generation upgrade, particularly from a Flip3 or older.
- Buy only after confirming a new, unlocked U.S. unit. A clear warranty and full return period matter when buying a phone with a delicate foldable display.
- Skip it if your priorities are zoom, endurance, or ruggedness. A conventional phone may deliver better camera flexibility, battery confidence, and durability for the same budget.
- Be cautious with renewed or open-box stock. Inspect the inner screen, crease, hinge action, and original screen protector; confirm who covers repairs and what the return policy allows.
Checkout checklist
- Confirm the exact model is the U.S. Galaxy Z Flip6 and check carrier compatibility, including the features you need.
- Check whether the listing is 256GB or 512GB and whether the price applies to that exact configuration.
- Verify condition: new, open-box, refurbished, or renewed. Do not treat these as interchangeable.
- Check whether it is unlocked and whether activation, trade-in, membership, or coupon conditions apply.
- Identify the seller and confirm manufacturer warranty eligibility, the return window, and the process for reporting a screen or hinge problem.
- Review the final checkout total, including tax, shipping, and any optional protection plan.
- If buying open-box, test folding and unfolding, touch response across the inner screen, the crease area, both displays, cameras, charging, and network connectivity during the return period.
For accessory or insurance decisions, assess the current terms rather than adding them automatically. A compatible case can help protect the exterior, but it does not remove foldable-screen risk.
