The headline referred to a real Best Buy promotion on November 24, 2025: an HP Victus 15.6-inch gaming laptop with an AMD Ryzen 7 7445HS processor and GeForce RTX 4050 graphics for $549.99, reportedly $350 below its listed price. That price is historical. It should not be treated as a verified live offer in August 2026.
What the $549.99 deal included
The Black Friday configuration was an HP Victus with the following specifications, according to the original deal report:

That combination mattered because it included a discrete NVIDIA GPU, rather than relying on integrated graphics. At $549.99, it offered a substantially more gaming-capable starting point than most inexpensive laptops with only integrated graphics.
Is the $549 HP Victus deal still available?
No current $549.99 offer was verified. A Best Buy result containing the matching Victus configuration later displayed $1,038.99, with a prior price of $1,474.99. The result came through related-product data rather than a clean, standalone product-page snapshot, so it is best treated as a retailer price signal, not a universal current price. Seller, condition, ZIP code, inventory and open-box status can all change the number.

Check the exact CPU, GPU, RAM, storage and screen before buying. Similar HP Victus names can identify materially different configurations. Best Buy pricing and availability can change without notice.
What gaming performance should you expect?
The RTX 4050 is an entry-level mobile RTX GPU aimed primarily at 1080p gaming. It supports features such as hardware-accelerated ray tracing and DLSS, but it is not a high-end ray-tracing solution.

- 1080p is the sensible target. Many games should be playable at low-to-medium settings, while demanding new releases may require further reductions or upscaling.
- 60fps is plausible, not guaranteed. Results depend on the game, settings, drivers, cooling and the laptop’s configured GPU power limit.
- 144Hz is a display capability. The panel can refresh at 144Hz, but demanding games will not necessarily render at 144 frames per second.
- Benchmark context matters. The deal coverage cited averages of 81fps in F1 2024 and 80fps in Middle-earth: Shadow of War from different Dell RTX 4050 laptops. Those are directional RTX 4050 results, not measurements of this HP Victus.
The compromises behind the low price
The RTX 4050 is from an older generation than RTX 50-series laptop GPUs and has 6GB of graphics memory. That can become restrictive in newer games, especially with high textures, ray tracing or higher resolutions. The 512GB SSD is also modest: Windows and a few large games can consume much of its usable capacity.

Other budget-laptop trade-offs—battery life, fan noise, chassis materials, webcam quality, color coverage and portability—vary by exact Victus configuration and were not established by the deal report. Do not infer premium build quality or quiet operation from the RTX branding alone.

Was the $649.99 Lenovo LOQ a better buy?
The same 2025 coverage mentioned a Lenovo LOQ priced at $649.99, or $100 more, with an Intel Core i5-13450HX, 16GB DDR5, 512GB SSD and RTX 5050 graphics. It was described as having 8GB of GDDR7 memory on a 128-bit bus, compared with the RTX 4050’s 6GB of GDDR6 on a 96-bit bus.

The LOQ offered a newer GPU and more VRAM for a relatively small premium, but the source did not provide directly comparable game testing proving it faster in every title. Its availability also depended on local Best Buy inventory. Neither $649.99 nor $549.99 should be read as a current price.

How to evaluate a similar deal today
- Match the complete model configuration, not just “HP Victus” or “RTX gaming laptop.”
- Confirm whether the unit is new, open-box, refurbished or sold by a marketplace seller.
- Compare the live price with current RTX 4050, RTX 5050 and RTX 5060 laptops rather than anchoring on the old $549 headline.
- Check return, warranty and local-stock terms, especially for open-box inventory.
- Budget for additional storage if your game library is large.
At a genuinely similar price, the Victus configuration made sense for a 1080p buyer who accepted adjusted settings and modest storage. If a newer RTX 5050 system costs only slightly more, its newer architecture and 8GB memory may offer better long-term headroom. Buyers who mainly need school, office or streaming performance may be better served by a lighter non-gaming laptop, while an RTX 5060 model becomes more attractive when the price gap is justified by substantially higher performance.

The HP Victus with Ryzen 7 7445HS, RTX 4050, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD and a 144Hz 1080p display was a legitimate $549.99 Best Buy Black Friday deal on November 24, 2025. It was compelling because it delivered a real discrete GPU at an unusually low laptop price. In August 2026, however, the $549 offer is expired and unverified as a live promotion; judge any current listing against newer RTX 5050 and RTX 5060 alternatives.
