Before buying, check:
- The listing identifies the computer as a 14-inch M5 MacBook Pro.
- The configuration says 16GB memory and 512GB SSD, not a different model.
- The unit is listed as new if that is what you expect.
- The seller and shipper are Amazon or a reputable seller.
- The return policy, warranty eligibility, and final checkout total are acceptable.
- The keyboard layout is appropriate for your region.
Do not assume a third-party retailer’s return policy is identical to Apple’s, or that every listing automatically qualifies for Apple’s standard warranty and AppleCare+.

When 512GB is sufficient
A 512GB SSD works well for productivity applications, cloud-based workflows, and users who keep large media files on external drives or network storage. It becomes restrictive sooner for video projects, large photo libraries, music-production sample libraries, game installations, virtual machines, and development environments.
Apple lists 512GB and 1TB as standard storage choices for the M5 model, with configurable options up to 4TB. Because storage also cannot be replaced internally, choose 1TB or more if your normal workload already approaches the limits of 512GB.
Who should buy it?
At a genuinely live price of $1,349 for a new unit, this MacBook Pro is most compelling for:

Who should choose a MacBook Air instead?
The Pro is excessive if your main activities are browsing, documents, streaming, video calls, email, and ordinary school or office applications. A MacBook Air is generally the more sensible category to compare when low weight, quiet operation, and lower cost matter more than an HDR display, HDMI, SDXC storage, or sustained high-load performance.

Do not pay a Pro premium simply because the discount sounds large. The right comparison is the price and configuration of the Air available when you buy, plus the features you would actually use.
M5 versus M5 Pro and M5 Max
The $1,349 machine is the base M5, not an M5 Pro or M5 Max MacBook Pro. Apple’s higher-tier specifications distinguish those chips with more powerful CPU and GPU options, Thunderbolt 5, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and broader external-display capabilities.

But the deal should not be treated as live in August 2026 without checking the retailer. If the exact new configuration reappears near $1,349, buy it when you need Pro-specific features. Choose 24GB/1TB if your workload is memory- or storage-heavy, choose a MacBook Air for basic productivity and portability, and consider M5 Pro or M5 Max only when your professional workloads justify the premium.
