Seeing a higher wireless bill does not always make the reason obvious. TELUS has reportedly introduced an AI-powered comparison view in My TELUS that compares a current Mobility bill with the previous one and summarizes apparent changes, such as expired discounts, roaming, long-distance charges, taxes, add-ons or plan changes.
It may be a useful first-pass diagnostic, but it is not a replacement for the detailed bill, your service agreement or TELUS support. The feature’s reported disclaimer says its explanations may be incomplete or inaccurate.
What TELUS’s AI bill tool does
The feature reportedly compares your latest wireless statement with the previous one and highlights differences in the total or in individual billing categories. It may then provide a short, plain-language explanation of why the amount changed.
Examples reported by MobileSyrup include:
- Long-distance charges
- Roaming-related charges
- Taxes
- A plan change
- An add-on
- A promotional discount that ended
- The amount by which the bill increased or decreased
This is best understood as a month-over-month summary—not a general-purpose chatbot and not an independent audit of TELUS’s billing system.

Where to look for it
The available evidence places the comparison feature inside My TELUS. A user-posted description refers to a comparison card, while TELUS’s regular billing documentation confirms that customers can use My TELUS to view, download and print bills and statements from up to 18 months earlier.
To check for it:
- Sign in to My TELUS.
- Open the relevant Mobility account.
- Select Billing and open the latest bill.
- Look for a bill-comparison or explanation card.
The exact menu path, app-versus-website availability, supported app versions and eligibility rules have not been publicly confirmed. If the card does not appear, the feature may not be enabled for your account or current My TELUS experience.
Also confirm that you are viewing a wireless account rather than TELUS Home Services, and that both the current and previous statements are available electronically.

What the AI explanation can—and cannot—tell you
The practical value is speed. Instead of manually scanning two long statements, the comparison view can direct your attention to the sections most likely to explain the difference.
But identifying a difference is not the same as proving that the charge is correct. The tool reportedly warns that its output may not be completely accurate, may not reflect every change and is provided for convenience.
It does not establish:
- That TELUS’s charge is authorized under your agreement
- That a plan change was properly communicated
- That a promotion ended on the date shown
- That a roaming or long-distance charge is yours
- That every billing change has been identified
- That TELUS’s accounting is free of error
In other words, treat the card as triage. The full bill remains the authoritative starting point for checking the amount.

How to verify a flagged increase
- Record the total difference. Note how much the current bill changed from the previous statement.
- Open the full bill or download the PDF. Do not rely only on the AI summary.
- Compare the relevant line item. Check the current charge against the previous bill and the dates covered by each statement.
- Check effective dates. Look for the date a plan, add-on, promotion or price changed.
- Review your records. Check your service agreement, promotion confirmation, plan-change notice and any travel or usage records.
- Contact TELUS if the numbers do not reconcile. Keep the current and previous PDFs, a screenshot of the AI explanation and copies of relevant correspondence.
Situations where the comparison may be confusing
A simple month-to-month comparison can be less clear when several events occur at once. Watch for these cases:

- Unlocked: Compatible with all major U.S. carriers, including Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and other major carriers.
- Premium built-in stylus. Effortlessly jot notes, edit photos, sketch artwork, and navigate on the only phone in its class with a built-in stylus***.

- Sony - LYTIA camera with OIS. Capture brighter, more vibrant photos at night with the 50MP camera featuring Optical Image Stabilization and moto ai.
- New or cancelled lines: The total may include prorated charges, activation amounts or credits alongside recurring service charges.
- Phone financing: Device payments, credits and buyout amounts can change independently of the wireless plan.
- Expired promotions: The summary may identify a lost discount, but you still need to confirm the promotion’s stated end date.
- Roaming: Travel charges may be posted after the travel occurred, so the billing period may not match your travel dates neatly.
- Long-distance: Usage can appear on a later statement than the month in which the call was made.
- Taxes: A tax difference may reflect a changed taxable amount, address or account charge.
- Multiple lines: One person’s usage or plan change can increase the account total even when other lines are unchanged.
- Credits and corrections: A reversal or billing correction can make a statement look unusual without representing a new recurring fee.
- Missing history: A comparison may not work normally if the previous statement is unavailable or the account was recently changed.
What to do if the explanation is wrong
Separate the problem into four possibilities:
- A genuine bill change: For example, a promotion expired or a one-time usage charge was posted.
- A billing error: The amount does not match your account, usage or agreement.
- An incomplete explanation: The bill may be correct, but the AI summary omitted relevant context.
- A disputed contractual change: The charge may require review under your agreement, TELUS’s service terms or applicable consumer protections.
For help, TELUS lists online support, phone support, stores, chat through TELUS Assist and its community forum. Its contact page says TELUS Assist can direct customers to a live agent when needed.
When contacting support, provide the bill date, affected line, exact charge, comparison screenshots and the result you are requesting—such as restoring a promised discount, removing an unrecognized charge or explaining a proration.
Why notice rules matter
An AI summary can indicate that a price or plan changed, but it cannot determine whether TELUS gave legally or contractually sufficient notice.

For permitted changes, TELUS says it will provide at least 30 days’ written notice by bill message, text or email, including the former and new terms, effective date and applicable cancellation rights.

The same terms say that, where applicable, a customer may cancel within 30 days of the effective date without cancellation fees if a permitted change increases the customer’s obligation or reduces TELUS’s obligation. The details depend on the change and the agreement, so a billing card alone is not enough to determine your rights.

Customers disputing a fee should also distinguish a bill explanation from a regulatory finding. The CRTC opened Telecom Notice of Consultation 2026-155 concerning alleged violations by Bell, TELUS and Rogers involving fees associated with activating or modifying telecommunications services. The relevant consumer protections took effect on June 12, 2026.
The proceeding says TELUS introduced a $15 SIM or eSIM purchase fee in June 2026. TELUS told the CRTC that it had not stopped charging the fee and considered it compliant, while the CRTC said the fee did not clearly appear to fall within an exemption for optional products or services and directed the companies to show cause.
This is an ongoing proceeding, not a final finding that TELUS violated the rules. It also does not establish that the AI comparison tool mishandles that fee. If such a charge appears on your bill, preserve the statement and ask TELUS to explain the charge while noting the relevant regulatory proceeding.

When was the feature introduced?
The feature should not be described as a brand-new August or September 2026 launch based on the available evidence. The clearest report identified was published on October 17, 2025, and said that some TELUS customers were seeing the comparison feature.
Neither a universal rollout, an eligibility list, supported platforms nor an official TELUS launch announcement has been confirmed in the available documentation. Availability may therefore vary by account, platform, billing history or rollout stage.
Bottom line
TELUS’s AI bill comparison can save time by pointing to apparent month-to-month changes, including expired discounts, usage charges, taxes and plan differences. Use it as a first-pass guide—not as proof that a charge is correct or that every change has been found. Verify the result against the complete bill, previous statements, your agreement and any applicable notice or consumer-protection rules.
