Telia’s Google Pixel 8 Christmas campaign was a genuine Swedish promotion in December 2023, but it is not available now. The reported offer put the 128 GB Pixel 8 at SEK 549 per month on Telia’s unlimited installment arrangement, with a conditional JBL speaker and temporary mobile-plan incentives. The speaker deadline passed on December 22, 2023, and the reported online data promotion ended on January 31, 2024.
Telia’s current Christmas information describes a seasonal promotion that normally starts in early December and runs through the holiday period, while its Google catalogue now promotes newer Pixel 10-family devices. See Telia’s Christmas page and current Google Pixel offers for live availability.
What the 2023 Telia campaign included
The promotion was a bundle of separate benefits rather than one unconditional discount. Contemporary coverage reported the following terms for Sweden:

Pixel 8 price: what SEK 549 per month did—and did not—mean
SEK 549 was the reported monthly device installment for the 128 GB Pixel 8. It was not necessarily the total monthly bill, because the qualifying mobile subscription and any other fees were separate parts of the customer’s cost.
Multiplying the advertised installment by the 24-month commitment gives SEK 13,176 in device installments alone (549 × 24). That arithmetic is useful for checking the scale of the commitment, but it is not an audited all-in price. Telia’s specific installment structure, plan discounts, upfront charges and any other conditions could change the final amount.
How to interpret the SEK 6,615 saving
The campaign was reported as saving SEK 6,615. The available report does not show the complete ordinary-price calculation, so it is not possible to establish whether that figure compared only the handset, included subscription discounts, or included the speaker’s stated campaign value. It should therefore be read as Telia’s reported promotional comparison—not as cash paid back to the customer or an independently verified total-cost saving.

Pixel 8 versus Pixel 8 Pro
The two phones shared the reported campaign benefits but had different monthly installments. The Pixel 8 Pro was listed at SEK 619 per month, which is SEK 70 more each month—or SEK 1,680 over 24 months—before considering plan costs and other fees.

Conditional extras and plan promotions
JBL Flip Essential 2 speaker
The speaker was described as free only for customers who bought a Pixel 8 or Pixel 8 Pro with an unlimited-surf subscription and accepted a 24-month commitment. Redemption was reported to be available until December 22, 2023 at 09:00, or until stock ran out. The campaign stated a speaker value of SEK 1,190; that was a promotional reference value, not a guarantee of its current resale price.
Unlimited surfing and streaming
The reported subscription promotion charged SEK 449 per month for the first six months, after which the ordinary rate applied. The offer reportedly ran through January 31, 2024 and required a 24-month commitment. Because the ordinary post-promotion price is not stated in the available coverage, it should not be guessed. A buyer evaluating a similar offer would need to multiply the promotional rate by six, then add the regular rate for the remaining commitment months.
Double data on the 15 GB Basic plan
An online-only benefit reportedly changed Telia’s 15 GB Basic allowance to 30 GB for one year when purchased or extended through telia.se. It reportedly required a 24-month commitment and was available through January 31, 2024. This was a capped allowance doubled from 15 GB—not unlimited data—and it should not be confused with the unlimited-plan promotion.
How to calculate the real cost of a carrier phone deal
Separate the handset calculation from the service calculation. A transparent worksheet would use:

- Device: monthly device installment × installment months, plus any upfront handset fee, minus only explicitly documented handset discounts.
- Service: promotional plan price × promotional months, plus the ordinary plan price for the remaining commitment period.
- Other charges: add activation, delivery, insurance or optional services only when they appear in the written terms.
Do not treat the phone’s monthly figure as the total bill, and do not count the speaker as cash savings unless the terms assign it that value and the buyer would otherwise have purchased it.
Contract questions the campaign report does not answer
The reported article does not expose the full Telia contract. Before accepting any comparable carrier promotion, verify:

- the charge for cancelling early and whether the remaining handset balance becomes immediately payable;
- whether a plan downgrade is allowed during the 24-month period;
- whether an accessory must be returned after cancellation;
- whether the terms differ for new customers, upgrades and number porting;
- credit approval, identity checks and any activation or delivery fees.
Those details should be treated as unverified for the 2023 campaign unless an archived Telia agreement is recovered.

Was the Pixel 8 a good phone?
Google’s official specifications list a 6.2-inch OLED display with 1080 × 2400 resolution and a 60–120 Hz refresh rate, the Tensor G3 processor, 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB or 256 GB storage, a 50 MP main camera and 12 MP ultrawide camera. The phone also has IP68 dust and water resistance, wireless charging, dual SIM support through nano-SIM and eSIM, and a typical 4,575 mAh battery. See Google’s Pixel 8 specifications.
Google says the Pixel 8 receives seven years of operating-system, security and Feature Drop updates, measured from the device’s initial availability on the Google Store in the United States. That is an unusually long support commitment for its generation, but it does not prevent normal battery ageing or guarantee that every later feature will work identically on older hardware. Should you buy a Pixel 8 now?
A Pixel 8 can still make sense if the price is clearly below newer models and the device is in good condition. The decision is different from accepting the old Telia campaign.

- Check Swedish compatibility: confirm the intended market, supported 5G bands, VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling support, and whether the phone is carrier-locked.
- Check what is included: Google lists a USB-C cable, Quick Switch Adapter and SIM tool; a 30 W charger is sold separately.
- Compare generations: Telia’s active Google page now highlights Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 10 Pro Fold and Pixel 10a. Current prices and installment displays are configuration-dependent and should be checked at checkout.
- Compare contract-free options: an unlocked or official refurbished phone may cost less overall than a new 24-month carrier commitment, but Sweden-specific availability and warranty for Google’s refurbished listing must be confirmed.
Telia’s cash-deal page describes lower upfront handset pricing when the phone is paid for directly alongside a 24-month subscription. That is a current product category, not evidence that the 2023 Pixel 8 promotion remains active.
Verdict
The Telia Pixel 8 Christmas campaign was potentially attractive in 2023 for someone who needed Telia’s unlimited service and accepted a 24-month commitment. Its headline handset price, temporary plan discount, conditional JBL speaker and double-data option were separate benefits with separate conditions.
It is not a live bargain in 2026. The speaker and online-plan deadlines have passed, and Telia’s current catalogue focuses on newer Pixel generations. Treat any surviving SEK 549 headline as historical information, then compare the complete cost, contract obligations, device condition and current alternatives before buying a Pixel 8.
