Short answer: TECNO did not confirm an ₹80,000 price for its rumored 5.95mm phone. The commercial phone that followed was the POVA Slim 5G, launched in India in September 2025 at a reported ₹19,999. It kept the ultra-thin design but landed in a very different price and performance category.
What the August 2025 report said
A report published on August 22, 2025, said TECNO was preparing an ultra-thin phone for India, with a thickness of about 5.95mm and a possible price of around ₹80,000 (about $915 at the conversion used in the report). It suggested the handset could be related to TECNO’s SPARK Slim concept shown at MWC 2025, and listed expected features including a 6.78-inch curved AMOLED display, 1.5K resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, a 5,200mAh battery and a 50MP camera. The report itself described key details as unconfirmed.
The ₹80,000 figure was a reported estimate, not an official TECNO India price. At the time, TECNO had not confirmed the retail phone’s final name, specifications or price. Treating that number as a launch price—or the expected specifications as a final product sheet—would overstate what was known.

What eventually launched: POVA Slim 5G
TECNO later brought the POVA Slim 5G to India in September 2025. Secondary coverage reported a launch price of ₹19,999, about ₹60,000 below the earlier rumor. That is a launch-price reference, not a verified current price: availability, offers and street prices can change, so check a current Indian retailer or TECNO listing before making a purchase decision.

The POVA Slim 5G’s official product specifications confirm the central design claim: TECNO lists it at 164.23 × 75.91 × 5.95mm. That is the manufacturer’s stated thickness; a curved chassis need not measure uniformly across every point. TECNO’s product page and technical specifications also list a 6.78-inch 1.5K 144Hz curved AMOLED display, a 5,160mAh battery, 45W charging, a MediaTek Dimensity 6400 5G processor, a 13MP front camera and 50MP + 2MP rear cameras.
SPARK Slim and POVA Slim 5G are not the same phone
The early story linked the rumored handset to the SPARK Slim concept, but TECNO’s product listings show two distinct devices. Similar thin designs and displays do not make their network support or processors interchangeable.

TECNO lists the SPARK Slim at 164.2 × 75.9 × 5.93mm; its regional product page notes that the 5.93mm figure refers to the thinnest part and can vary with measurement method and product tolerances. Why the price changes the story
At ₹80,000, buyers would likely compare a thin TECNO phone with premium devices on more than appearance: performance, cameras, software support, service coverage and resale value would all matter. The POVA Slim 5G’s reported ₹19,999 launch price puts it in a different market segment. Its Dimensity 6400 5G chipset is not evidence of flagship-class performance, and its thinness alone does not establish that it competes with premium Samsung or Apple phones.

The more accurate takeaway is that TECNO brought an unusually thin design to a mid-range price tier. It did not, based on the product and pricing information available here, launch the rumored ₹80,000 flagship.

What to check before buying a very thin phone
- Performance: Choose based on the processor and your workload, not the slim profile. Do not assume the POVA Slim 5G is a flagship gaming or photography phone.
- Battery life: TECNO lists a 5,160mAh battery and 45W charging, but capacity by itself cannot establish real-world endurance. Look for independent testing of the exact model.
- Durability and cooling: TECNO advertises a vapor chamber, a 24,532mm² heat-dissipation area and military-grade shock testing. These are manufacturer claims, not independent test results. A thin body also makes it worth checking repairability and case availability.
- Water resistance: TECNO lists IP64 protection. That rating is not a promise that the phone can be submerged; check the manufacturer’s terms and avoid treating it as waterproof.
- Display details: TECNO describes a 1.5K panel and notes that some processing may upscale from lower native GPU output in certain implementations. The resolution label alone does not describe every rendering condition.
- Network and support: If you need 5G, distinguish the POVA Slim 5G from the 4G SPARK Slim. Check software-support commitments, service access in your area, warranty terms and current stock before paying.
- Current price: ₹19,999 is the reported launch price, not a confirmed August 2026 selling price. Compare the current final price, seller and warranty with phones in the same budget.
