GeekWire reported three notable Pacific Northwest technology personnel changes on June 20, 2024: Chris Bee joined email startup Superhuman as chief technology officer; Getty Images co-founder and former CEO Jonathan Klein resigned from the company’s board; and longtime Xbox personality Larry Hryb—better known as Major Nelson—joined Unity as director of community. These were 2024 announcements, not confirmed current roles as of 2026.
GeekWire’s Tech Moves roundup described three different kinds of personnel change: an operating-company technology hire, a founder’s board departure and a community-focused appointment at a major game-development platform.
Chris Bee became Superhuman’s CTO
Chris Bee joined San Francisco-based Superhuman as chief technology officer after serving most recently as CTO of Lessen. His earlier experience included senior-director work at Zillow Group and a senior engineering-manager role at Uber. Bee is associated with Seattle’s technology community.

GeekWire reported that the company was also pursuing enterprise customers, alongside its roots serving individual users, and had raised $75 million in 2021. That financing figure is historical and should not be read as the company’s current funding total.

A CTO appointment in that setting pointed to an effort to strengthen engineering and product execution as Superhuman expanded its ambitions. Enterprise expansion can require capabilities such as administration, security, compliance and larger-contract sales, but the available report did not specify Bee’s mandate, reporting line or which of those areas he would own. It also did not establish whether the role was newly created or replaced another executive.
Jonathan Klein resigned from Getty Images’ board
Jonathan Klein helped launch Getty Images in 1995 and is a co-founder of the image company. He stepped down as CEO in 2015 and left the chair position in 2018. In the week before GeekWire’s June 20 report, he resigned from Getty Images’ board.

This was a governance change—not a new operating-company job and not evidence that Klein had severed every relationship with Getty Images. The departure ended his formal board role as one of the company’s founders, but the available report gave no reason for the resignation, no precise effective date and no information about any continuing advisory or shareholder relationship. It also did not indicate a dispute, forced exit, ownership change or strategic shift.

Larry Hryb joined Unity as director of community
Larry Hryb joined Unity as director of community after more than two decades at Microsoft. Xbox users knew him as Major Nelson, a prominent public-facing ambassador and host of the Official Xbox Podcast. The report said he had stepped away from Microsoft in 2023.

Hryb described Unity’s focus on helping creators and businesses succeed across games, apps and other experiences as a fit with his interests in innovation and community building. The precise scope of the Unity job was not disclosed: the report did not identify a reporting line, location or whether his work centered on game developers, broader creators, Unity users or gaming audiences.
The title matters. “Director of community” is a community and communications role, not a claim that Hryb joined Unity’s executive team or engineering leadership. His value was the unusually recognizable audience and relationship-building experience he brought from Xbox to a platform used by game and interactive-experience creators.

Bee’s appointment was an engineering-leadership decision at an AI-oriented email startup reportedly moving toward enterprise customers. Hryb’s move transferred a high-profile console-community voice into a creator-platform community role.
The source confirms the announcements as reported in June 2024. It does not verify exact effective dates, compensation, corporate announcements for every move or whether Bee, Klein or Hryb still held those positions in 2026. Any current-status claim requires a newer company filing, announcement or biography.
