These appointments were reported on October 17, 2024—not as a verified 2026 leadership update. The Pacific Northwest technology community saw three different kinds of leadership change: Expedia Group appointed Ramana Thumu as chief technology officer, F5 added Maya McReynolds and Julie Gonzalez to its board, and Seattle recruiting-technology startup Humanly hired Tara Mitchell as vice president of sales.
The original GeekWire report confirmed the appointments at the time. Current role status, board committee assignments and subsequent company developments were not independently confirmed for this edition.
Expedia Group appoints Ramana Thumu as CTO
Ramana Thumu was named chief technology officer of Expedia Group, with responsibility for engineering operations. He was expected to begin in December 2024 and be based in San Francisco.

At Expedia Group, the CTO role sits within a broad technology environment spanning major travel brands and shared infrastructure. The practical scope of engineering operations can include platform reliability, scalability, developer and infrastructure systems, product technology, data, search, recommendations and personalization. The original announcement specifically identified engineering operations, but it did not state that Thumu had been hired to lead a particular artificial-intelligence program, restructure the company or repair a defined technology problem.
Why the appointment was notable
The appointment followed the departures of former Expedia Group CTO Rathi Murthy and former senior vice president of core services product and engineering Sreenivas Rachamadugu in May 2024. Expedia Group said the departures involved a “violation of company policy” but did not disclose additional details about the underlying conduct or the terms of the departures.
That timing made continuity an important issue for the incoming CTO. Expedia’s technology organization must coordinate systems and engineering teams across multiple travel businesses while maintaining reliability for booking, payments, customer accounts and other high-volume services. It also operates in areas where technology choices can affect discovery and conversion, including search, personalization and recommendations.

Those are challenges any CTO of a large travel platform may face; the source did not identify them as Thumu’s specific mandate. The appointment is therefore best understood as a senior technology-leadership change following an unsettled period, rather than proof of a particular turnaround or AI strategy.
F5 adds Maya McReynolds and Julie Gonzalez to its board
Enterprise technology company F5 added two directors: Maya McReynolds and Julie Gonzalez.
- Maya McReynolds was CFO of Dell Technologies’ Client Solutions Group.
- Julie Gonzalez was senior vice president of Business Finance at Workday.
F5 highlighted their financial expertise and operational experience. Those backgrounds can be relevant to a public technology company because directors oversee matters such as financial reporting, capital allocation, risk, enterprise execution and long-term strategy. Experience at Dell and Workday also brings familiarity with large-scale technology operations and corporate finance.

These were board appointments, not operating executive hires. The available report did not specify committee assignments, a succession plan, an acquisition rationale, an activist campaign or a governance overhaul. It also did not say that either director was appointed to a particular audit, compensation or nominating committee.
For investors and employees, the main takeaway is that F5 expanded its board with directors whose backgrounds fit the financial and operational demands of a major enterprise-technology company. The appointments alone do not establish a new strategic direction.
Humanly hires Tara Mitchell as vice president of sales
Seattle-based recruiting-technology startup Humanly named Tara Mitchell vice president of sales. Humanly focuses on automating recruiting functions, placing the company in the growing category of software designed to support hiring teams and human-resources departments.

Mitchell previously served as associate vice president of sales at Fountain. Her earlier experience included roles at iCIMS and CareerBuilder, giving her a background in employment technology and sales to organizations involved in recruiting.
A sales-leadership hire can indicate that a startup is prioritizing customer acquisition, enterprise distribution or a more scalable commercial organization. In Humanly’s case, the appointment came after the company acquired Teamable in May 2024. Teamable, based in San Francisco, offered similar AI-focused human-resources tools.
The timing provides useful context, but it does not prove that the acquisition created the sales role or that Mitchell was hired to enter a new market. Humanly did not disclose sales targets, revenue, customer numbers or funding connected to the appointment in the report. Mitchell’s title also distinguishes the move from a product or engineering hire: the clearest confirmed focus was go-to-market leadership.

What the three moves represent
Although grouped in the same personnel roundup, the announcements were not equivalent:

Read cautiously, the pattern shows three different organizational priorities. Expedia was filling a top technology role after senior departures. F5 was adding public-company and enterprise-finance experience at the governance level. Humanly was strengthening sales leadership as a recruiting-technology startup expanded its footprint following the Teamable acquisition.
That interpretation is contextual analysis, not a set of strategies announced by the companies. The original report did not provide enough information to conclude that any of the moves caused a restructuring, accelerated revenue growth or changed a company’s business model.

The broader October 2024 roundup also included several non-headline changes:
- Viral Thacker was set to lead a new advertising-sales and product group for Amazon’s Twitch.
- Andrew Fitzpatrick became interim economic development director at Prosper Portland.
- Mitch Daugherty took over management of Prosper Portland’s Office of Small Business.
- Kristen Hamilton became an adviser to the CEO of formX.
- Seattle Aquarium President and CEO Bob Davidson announced plans to retire the following year.
These items belong to the wider Pacific Northwest personnel-news roundup but are separate from the three principal moves in the headline.
Important status note for readers in 2026
The appointments above should be dated to the October 17, 2024 report. The available evidence does not independently establish whether Thumu remains Expedia Group CTO, whether McReynolds and Gonzalez remain on F5’s board, or whether Mitchell remains at Humanly as of 2026. Confirming those facts would require current company leadership pages, regulatory filings or later company announcements.
