Tebi raised a fresh €30 million Series B on June 10, 2025, led by CapitalG, Alphabet’s growth-equity fund, with existing investor Index Ventures participating. The round brought Tebi’s disclosed total funding to €56 million, about eight months after its €20 million Series A.
Amsterdam-based Tebi is building an integrated operating system for restaurants, cafés, bars and hospitality groups. Its software combines point of sale, payments, reservations, inventory, kitchen operations, ordering, bookkeeping and analytics. The company’s next priorities were UK and wider European expansion, hiring, product development and additional AI functionality.
What Tebi’s €30 million funding round means
This was a Series B—not an acquisition, a Google operating-business investment or an Adyen spinout. CapitalG, Alphabet’s growth fund, led the financing, while Index Ventures followed on as an existing investor. Tebi said the new money would support international expansion, beginning with the UK, as well as team growth and product development.

According to Index Ventures, Tebi’s total disclosed funding reached €56 million after the round. That figure consists of the new €30 million Series B and the earlier €20 million Series A, plus previously disclosed financing.

At the time of the announcement, Tebi had approximately 35 employees and said it was targeting roughly 70. TechCrunch also reported that merchants in the Netherlands were processing nine figures of payments annually through the platform, although the exact amount and methodology were not disclosed.
What Tebi sells
Tebi positions itself as a connected hospitality operating system rather than simply a card processor or electronic cash register. Its public product materials list capabilities including:
- Point of sale and integrated payments
- Kitchen-display operations
- Inventory and recipe management
- Reservations and QR ordering
- Customer relationship management
- Bookkeeping and accounting-related workflows
- Dashboards, reporting and business insights
- AI-assisted onboarding
In a typical workflow, a customer books a table or places an order, staff record it through the POS, the kitchen receives the ticket, payment is processed, and transaction data can feed inventory and financial reporting. The appeal is the connection between front-of-house activity and administration: fewer separate systems may mean less duplicated data entry and less manual reconciliation.

Public materials do not establish that every feature has identical availability in every country or pricing plan. Operators should confirm which modules, integrations, payment methods and compliance features are live in their market.
From Adyen to restaurant software
Tebi was co-founded by Arnout Schuijff, Adyen’s former co-founder and CTO, and Rob Vonk, formerly an Adyen executive who became Tebi’s CTO. Schuijff left Adyen in 2021 and began working full-time on Tebi.
The idea reportedly began with software Schuijff built for a friend’s bar. The initial problem was practical: making point-of-sale functions, VAT handling and reporting work more cleanly for a small hospitality business. TechCrunch also reported that Schuijff previously co-founded Bibit, which was acquired by RBS-owned Worldpay in 2004.

That background provides founder-market fit in two directions. Schuijff understands payment infrastructure at scale, but Tebi also grew from direct exposure to the operational problems faced by smaller businesses. Tebi is independent; it should not be described as an Adyen subsidiary, product or corporate spinout, and Adyen is not identified as an investor in the round.

CapitalG’s stated thesis is that European small and midsize businesses remain underserved by expensive, bank-dominated payment solutions. As reported by TechCrunch, CapitalG partner Alex Nichols compared the opportunity with the earlier development of embedded payments in the United States, where software companies captured more payment activity from traditional banks.
That is an investor thesis, not an independently verified forecast. CapitalG was reportedly attracted by the combination of hospitality software and payments, as well as possible connections to Alphabet technologies such as Android, Gemini, Google Cloud and Google Maps. Those references describe potential strategic touch points—not a confirmed Google product integration or commercial commitment.
The broader investment logic is clear. Tebi could become more than a restaurant POS vendor if it successfully combines:
- Vertical software built for hospitality workflows
- Payments revenue linked to merchant transactions
- Operational and financial data generated inside the platform
- A distribution opportunity among European independent businesses
That interpretation is analysis rather than a disclosed investment term. The round is ultimately a bet that Tebi can turn a tightly integrated product into a scalable platform while maintaining reliable service and competitive payment economics.

How Tebi plans to use the money
Tebi said the capital would fund:
- Expansion into the UK and further European markets
- Hiring across product, engineering, operations and commercial teams
- Additional product development
- More AI functionality
- A longer-term ambition to expand beyond Europe, including the United States after establishing a stronger European base
The leadership additions reflect that shift from building the product to distributing and scaling it. Alongside CEO Arnout Schuijff and CTO Rob Vonk, Tebi identified Aki Tas as COO, formerly head of business strategy and operations at Notion, and Patrick Studener as CCO, formerly COO at Wolt and involved in European expansion at Uber.

The headcount figures should be read as historical announcement figures, not current 2026 metrics: Tebi had about 35 employees in June 2025 and targeted approximately 70.
The AI angle is promising but unproven
Tebi said it had implemented AI-assisted onboarding that could import information such as menus, visual identity and reservation settings. The company also described a broader vision in which AI would help hospitality operators run their businesses more effectively.
That does not establish that Tebi has built an autonomous restaurant-management system. For an operator, the important questions are practical:
- Which AI features are live rather than planned?
- Are imported menus, prices, allergens and reservation settings reviewed by staff?
- How are incorrect changes corrected?
- What business data is sent to third-party AI providers?
- Are AI-generated changes logged and auditable?
The available funding materials do not answer those implementation, privacy or reliability questions. AI may reduce setup time, but errors in menus, tax settings, allergens or reservations can create real operational and financial costs.
Why hospitality is an attractive software market
Many restaurants and cafés operate with separate systems for payments, POS, reservations, inventory, accounting, online ordering and kitchen management. Each integration adds cost and another source of possible failure. Staff may need to enter the same information in multiple places, while owners reconcile sales, payment settlements and inventory manually.
Hospitality businesses also tend to operate with tight margins. That makes both software subscriptions and payment fees material commercial decisions. A unified system could reduce integration overhead and improve visibility, but consolidation introduces its own trade-off: the operator becomes more dependent on one provider and may lose the flexibility to select best-in-class tools for individual tasks.

What Tebi’s pricing says—and does not say
Public UK pricing checked in August 2026 shows a revenue-linked software model:

- The first £10,000 of monthly revenue is listed at £0 per month.
- Each additional £10,000 is listed at £20 per month.
- Tebi says it has no contracts or licensing fees for extra users or screens.
- UK card-present pricing lists £0.05 plus 0.25% for Visa and Mastercard debit and credit cards, with interchange and scheme fees also applying.
- American Express is listed at £0.05 plus 2.20%.
- Tap to Pay is listed at £0.06 per iOS transaction and £0.03 per Android transaction.
Fees, eligibility, hardware and country coverage can change. The headline subscription price also cannot be compared directly with a competitor’s software fee. Tebi’s pricing is closely connected to its payments model, so the relevant calculation is total cost of ownership: subscription, payment processing, card mix, hardware, add-ons and support.
Tebi’s own pricing page makes an average-savings claim, but that is a company claim rather than an independently verified benchmark. Operators should calculate their own costs using actual monthly revenue, transaction size, card mix and payment volume.

Square for Restaurants
Square’s UK pricing page lists a free plan, a Plus plan at £69 per month per location and a custom-priced Premium plan. It also lists 1.75% for in-person transactions on its published UK plans. Example hardware prices include a Square Stand at £99 plus VAT, Terminal at £149 plus VAT and Register at £699 plus VAT.
Square may suit smaller operators wanting a recognizable payments provider, a free entry tier and relatively straightforward signup. Tebi may be more attractive to businesses prioritizing a connected hospitality back office, but the comparison depends on required features, hardware and payment volume.
Toast
Toast emphasizes restaurant-specific hardware, workflows, integrations and support in the UK. Its public materials focus more on demos and configuration than on one universal UK price.

Toast may suit restaurants seeking an established restaurant-specialist platform and a broader deployment ecosystem. Very small or seasonal operators seeking fully transparent self-serve pricing may prefer to evaluate alternatives first. A quote should cover software, hardware, processing, add-ons and support together.
Lightspeed Restaurant
Lightspeed Restaurant is an established POS alternative with modular capabilities and integrations. Tebi’s comparison page frames the distinction around connected functionality, device limits and consolidated pricing.
Lightspeed may fit operators who value a mature POS ecosystem and are comfortable comparing modules and integrations. A current quote for the relevant country and plan is necessary; old third-party price guides should not be treated as current pricing.
What could go wrong
Tebi’s funding gives it resources to expand, but the central risks are execution risks:
- International complexity: payments, VAT, receipts, tax reporting, data rules and support expectations vary by country.
- Merchant acquisition costs: winning independent restaurants at scale can require local sales and support teams.
- Reliability expectations: a POS and payment outage affects live service immediately.
- Payment-margin pressure: competitive processing rates may limit economics even when software revenue grows.
- Migration risk: switching requires moving menus, staff permissions, customer data, reservations, accounting records and hardware workflows.
- Vendor dependence: consolidation reduces integration work but increases reliance on one provider.
- AI errors: inaccurate menu, pricing, allergen or reservation data can create operational and compliance problems.
The public funding materials do not establish Tebi’s uptime, offline-payment behavior, support response times, data-export quality, hardware compatibility or migration tooling. Those are essential diligence questions for an operator considering a switch.
Questions to ask before choosing Tebi
- Which countries, payment methods and fiscalization requirements are supported?
- Can existing tablets, terminals and kitchen hardware be reused?
- What is the all-in payment rate, including interchange, scheme and other charges?
- What happens if the internet connection fails?
- Can all transaction, customer, menu and accounting data be exported?
- How are refunds, chargebacks, tips, split bills and service charges handled?
- Do reservations and online-ordering channels integrate with the system?
- What is included in onboarding and migration?
- Can the business use another payment processor?
- Are AI-generated changes reviewed before they go live?
- What support is available during a live service failure?
Bottom line
Tebi has a credible payments pedigree, a substantial €30 million Series B and a product aimed at a real hospitality problem: fragmented software and payment workflows. CapitalG’s investment signals confidence in the opportunity to combine vertical software with embedded payments for European small and midsize businesses.
But Tebi is not automatically “Adyen for restaurants,” and a low software subscription does not prove a lower total cost. Its success will depend on reliable execution: expanding beyond the Netherlands, meeting local compliance and support requirements, maintaining payment economics, and making its AI features dependable enough for live hospitality operations.
