TeamViewer completed its acquisition of 1E on January 31, 2025, after announcing the deal on December 10, 2024. The transaction valued the London-based digital employee experience (DEX) company at an enterprise value of $720 million. TeamViewer was not simply buying a PC troubleshooting utility: it was adding software that monitors large fleets of workplace devices, identifies problems, automates selected fixes, and can escalate unresolved issues to a human technician through remote support.
The deal matters to investors and enterprise-technology buyers because it moves TeamViewer beyond reactive remote access into proactive IT operations, while also increasing the company’s debt and integration burden.
What happened in the TeamViewer-1E deal?
TeamViewer SE agreed to acquire 1E Limited from Carlyle Europe Technology Partners, part of Carlyle, for an announced $720 million enterprise value on a cash-free, debt-free basis. The announcement was made on December 10, 2024, and the transaction closed on January 31, 2025, according to TeamViewer’s 2024 annual report.
That terminology is important. Enterprise value is not automatically the same as the cash paid to shareholders or the equity purchase price. It is a valuation measure that reflects the value of the acquired business under the deal’s stated structure.

What does 1E actually do?
1E sells digital employee experience software for organizations managing substantial numbers of computers and other endpoints. The software collects information about device health and performance, then helps IT teams identify and address problems across the fleet.
Potential issues include:
- Applications that are failing or performing poorly
- Operating-system and device-performance problems
- Low storage and other endpoint conditions
- Network and connectivity issues
- Security-related or vulnerable software conditions
- Unused, redundant, or reclaimable applications
Depending on the issue and the organization’s policies, the platform can automate a remediation action rather than waiting for an employee to open a help-desk ticket. It can also provide visibility into the software and hardware environment, support software-reclaim programs, and connect with IT service-management workflows.
It is therefore more accurate to describe 1E as an enterprise DEX and endpoint-operations platform than as antivirus software, consumer PC repair software, or traditional remote-desktop software. DEX versus remote support
The strategic logic of the acquisition becomes clearer when the two categories are separated.

For example, an organization might detect a recurring application failure across hundreds of laptops. A policy could attempt a controlled repair or restart. If that does not work, a support technician could use TeamViewer’s remote-access tools to investigate the affected device.

Automation is not a guarantee that every problem will be fixed. Poorly designed policies, unusual device configurations, failed remediation attempts, and compliance restrictions can all require human review.
Why did TeamViewer want 1E?
TeamViewer’s stated strategy was to expand from remote connectivity into broader digital-workplace management. The company identified several potential benefits:
- More proactive support: detect and address problems before they become tickets.
- A broader enterprise offering: add DEX capabilities to TeamViewer’s remote-support portfolio.
- Cross-selling: sell DEX to TeamViewer customers and use TeamViewer’s distribution to reach more 1E prospects.
- Small and midsize business expansion: bring a simpler DEX product to customers that may not buy a large enterprise platform.
- Automation and AI potential: combine endpoint data, remediation, remote assistance, and IT operations workflows.
These are management’s strategic reasons for the acquisition, not independently proven outcomes. The key execution test is whether TeamViewer can make the products work together in a way customers understand and will pay for.
What was 1E worth financially?
At the time of the announcement, TeamViewer said 1E had approximately 300 employees and $77 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR) as of September 2024. More than 99% of its sales came from enterprise customers, and TeamViewer described the business as having achieved average double-digit profitable revenue growth over the preceding three years.
TeamViewer’s acquisition presentation indicated an implied valuation of approximately 9.2 times 1E’s September 2024 ARR. That is an ARR multiple, not a revenue multiple, earnings multiple, or measure of guaranteed future returns. The presentation also discussed pro-forma ARR that included Exoprise, which 1E acquired in October 2024.

The customer list cited in the announcement included the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, HP, Roche, Royal Bank of Canada, Nike, and Novartis. Those customer names demonstrate the enterprise orientation of the business, but they do not by themselves establish future growth, retention, or profitability.

TeamViewer said the transaction would be financed with existing credit lines and new debt instruments. After closing, reported financing included:
- A €250 million term loan
- A €175 million bridge loan
- A €210 million drawdown from a 2022 syndicated revolving credit facility
TeamViewer expected pro-forma net leverage of approximately 3.3 times adjusted EBITDA after the transaction and targeted reducing leverage to below 2.0 times by the end of fiscal 2026. Those figures make the deal financially significant: TeamViewer was buying a recurring-revenue software business, but it was also taking on additional financing obligations.
For shareholders, the relevant question is not simply whether 1E had attractive software. It is whether its growth, cross-selling, cash generation, and integration benefits can justify the acquisition valuation and the cost of carrying the additional debt.
What changed after closing?
TeamViewer announced initial product integrations in March 2025. These included 1E endpoint insights in TeamViewer Device Monitoring, access to TeamViewer Tensor within the 1E DEX platform, and remote support within the 1E ServiceNow integration. The company described the integrations in its 2025 announcement.

TeamViewer also launched TeamViewer DEX Essentials for smaller and midsize businesses. The product is positioned as an add-on to TeamViewer Remote and Tensor, while TeamViewer continues to offer higher-tier DEX capabilities for enterprise use cases such as endpoint troubleshooting, automation, software reclaim, device refresh, and monitoring. The DEX Essentials announcement provides the company’s product details.
There was also a cautionary signal. In its second-quarter 2025 update, TeamViewer said slower customer decision-making affected the newly acquired 1E business because of its significant exposure to the U.S. market and public sector. That does not prove the acquisition failed, but it shows why the deal’s success cannot be judged only by the initial product narrative.
Who could benefit from the combined platform?
The offering is most relevant to organizations with distributed endpoint fleets and a costly or overloaded support operation. Potentially strong use cases include:
- Large companies with recurring endpoint and application tickets
- IT teams that want to automate safe, repeatable fixes
- Organizations using ServiceNow or similar service-management systems
- Businesses that need to identify unused or risky software
- Companies seeking a remote-support escalation path after automated remediation fails
It is less likely to be a good fit for an individual trying to repair a home PC, a very small business that only needs occasional remote access, or an organization unwilling to install endpoint agents and collect device telemetry.

What should enterprise buyers check?
Before purchasing, an IT team should ask:
- Which operating systems, device types, and virtual environments are supported?
- What endpoint telemetry is collected, and can collection be restricted?
- Which remediations are automatic, and which require approval?
- Can policies be piloted on a limited group before broad deployment?
- What happens when a remediation fails or makes a device unreachable?
- Are actions logged for audit, investigation, and rollback?
- How does the platform integrate with Intune, Configuration Manager, ServiceNow, Jira, security tools, and existing monitoring?
- Is pricing based on endpoints, users, storage, modules, or a combination?
- What are the contract term, renewal, cancellation, and support conditions?
- Can the organization buy TeamViewer remote access without buying the full DEX platform?
Data governance also deserves attention. DEX systems can process information about devices, applications, users, and network performance. Buyers should review data residency, retention, administrator access, subprocessors, and applicable regulatory requirements.

How does 1E fit against alternatives?
Organizations evaluating DEX should compare TeamViewer’s offering with both direct DEX platforms and adjacent endpoint-management products. Possible starting points include Nexthink, Lakeside Software, ControlUp, Aternity, Tanium, and Microsoft Intune.
These products are not interchangeable in every deployment. Intune is primarily an endpoint-management and device-administration platform, while Tanium has a strong endpoint-operations and security orientation. Nexthink, Lakeside, ControlUp, and Aternity are more directly relevant to digital-experience monitoring, but their suitability depends on the organization’s environment, integrations, automation requirements, and existing licenses. No comparable pricing or independent performance ranking is established here.
What does TeamViewer DEX cost?
TeamViewer’s public pages list DEX tiers and capabilities, including Standard, Enterprise, and Enterprise Plus, but do not provide one universal per-endpoint price. Pricing can depend on endpoints, users, storage, volume, and selected modules. Enterprise buyers generally need a quote.

Check the applicable contract and current DEX pricing page before making a purchasing decision. Do not assume that a TeamViewer Remote subscription automatically includes the full 1E-derived DEX platform.
Why the acquisition matters
TeamViewer acquired 1E to connect two stages of IT support: finding and fixing endpoint problems automatically, then giving a technician remote access when automation is insufficient. The combination could help TeamViewer move deeper into enterprise IT operations and create additional opportunities to sell software across both customer bases.
But the transaction also carried meaningful risks. The announced valuation was about 9.2 times ARR, the financing increased leverage, and the products operate across several complex areas: endpoint telemetry, automation, remote access, IT service management, security governance, and software licensing. Customer overlap could also limit cross-selling if companies already own DEX, endpoint-management, observability, and remote-support products.
