Lineaje raised $20 million in Series A funding on July 30, 2024, bringing its disclosed total funding to $27 million. The round was led by Prosperity7 Ventures, Neotribe Ventures, and Hitachi Ventures, with participation from Tenable Ventures, Carahsoft, Wipro Ventures, Secure Octane Investments, J-Ventures, Alumni Ventures, and cybersecurity executives.
The company sells software-supply-chain-security technology intended to help organizations inventory software components, manage software bills of materials (SBOMs), assess vulnerabilities and third-party risk, monitor software integrity, and improve remediation. The financing announcement did not disclose Lineaje’s valuation, revenue, customer count, or detailed round structure.
What Lineaje’s $20 million funding means
Lineaje’s Series A is a significant financing for a company operating in a market shaped by open-source dependencies, outsourced software development, compromised build systems, and government expectations around software transparency. The company said the proceeds would support customer acquisition, go-to-market expansion, international growth, and further development of its artificial-intelligence capabilities and “BOMbots.”
The funding is genuine and was publicly announced by Lineaje and covered by independent technology publications. It should not, however, be treated as proof of a particular valuation, revenue scale, market share, customer retention rate, or product superiority. Those metrics were not disclosed in the available financing materials.

Lineaje’s funding announcement identified the round as a $20 million Series A and said the company had raised $27 million in total, including $7 million in seed funding.
Who invested in Lineaje?
The Series A’s lead investors were:
- Prosperity7 Ventures
- Neotribe Ventures
- Hitachi Ventures
The named participating investors were Tenable Ventures, Carahsoft, Wipro Ventures, Secure Octane Investments, J-Ventures, and Alumni Ventures. The round also included cybersecurity executives associated with Zscaler, CrowdStrike, and Trellix.
The syndicate may offer Lineaje more than capital, although the commercial results of those relationships were not guaranteed by the announcement:

- Hitachi Ventures: Its industrial technology connections could be relevant to enterprise and Japanese-market opportunities.
- Neotribe Ventures: The investor brings experience in enterprise technology and go-to-market development.
- Carahsoft: Its government distribution network could help Lineaje reach U.S. public-sector and defense customers.
- Wipro Ventures: The relationship could support access to enterprise software-development and services channels.
- Tenable Ventures: Its participation connects Lineaje to an established cybersecurity investor and adjacent security market.
These are strategic possibilities rather than independently verified bookings, distribution agreements, or revenue contributions.
What Lineaje sells
At the time of the financing, Lineaje described a platform spanning several parts of software supply-chain security:
- SBOM360: Management of software bills of materials.
- SBOM360 Hub: Repository and exchange capabilities for SBOM information.
- Open Source Manager: Visibility and risk management for open-source components.
- Third-party software risk management: Assessment of software supplied by vendors and other external parties.
- Integrity monitoring: Detection of software tampering and supply-chain anomalies.
- AI-assisted analysis and remediation: Recommendations intended to help teams investigate and address software risk.
An SBOM is an inventory of the components in a software product. It can list first-party code, open-source packages, commercial libraries, container images, and transitive dependencies. But an SBOM alone is not a complete security program. Its value depends on whether the inventory is accurate, current, connected to deployed software, and linked to useful vulnerability, provenance, policy, and remediation workflows.
Lineaje’s broader current positioning, as shown on its website, includes SCA360 for software-composition analysis, SBOM360 and SBOM360 Hub, Third Party Risk Manager, Lineaje AI, Gold Open Source, xBOM Manager, and UnifAI. These products and labels represent later company-reported positioning as of August 2026; they should not be read back into the July 2024 announcement as though every capability was already available in that form.

The problem Lineaje is trying to solve
Modern applications rarely consist only of code written by the organization deploying them. They may include:
- First-party application code
- Open-source packages and transitive dependencies
- Commercial libraries and third-party software
- Container images and operating-system packages
- Build tools, plugins, and CI/CD services
- Code supplied by contractors and software vendors
- AI-generated code and other AI-related components
This complexity creates several practical questions for security and engineering teams:
- Where is a vulnerable package deployed?
- Which release introduced it?
- Can the organization identify who produced or contributed the code?
- Has a package or build artifact been tampered with?
- Does a proposed dependency upgrade break application behavior?
- Can the organization provide customers or regulators with reliable component evidence?
Lineaje’s core thesis is that software lineage should be tracked across the lifecycle, rather than captured in a static document produced once during a build. In practical terms, that means connecting component inventories with provenance, vulnerabilities, suppliers, policies, releases, deployments, and response workflows.
Why software supply-chain security attracted funding
The financing arrived after several high-profile incidents demonstrated how a weakness in a widely used dependency or software supplier can affect many downstream organizations. The continuing impact of vulnerabilities such as Log4j also highlighted the difficulty of determining which products contain a vulnerable component.
Government software-security requirements and SBOM expectations added another source of demand. Software producers increasingly need to explain what is inside their products, while buyers need better evidence about the software they procure. The exact requirements vary by jurisdiction, agency, contract, and product category; an SBOM is not universally required in every software transaction.
Lineaje’s market opportunity therefore sits at the intersection of security operations, application security, procurement, compliance, and software development. That can increase the potential value of a platform, but it can also make implementation more complicated because the buyer may need participation from security, engineering, legal, procurement, and suppliers.
How the funding was intended to be used
Lineaje said the money would support:
- Customer acquisition
- Go-to-market expansion
- Geographic growth
- Continued development of its software-supply-chain-security platform
- Artificial-intelligence features and BOMbots
TechCrunch reported that CEO Javed Hasan expected the funding to carry the company through at least early 2027. That is a statement attributed to the CEO, not an independently audited forecast or a guarantee about Lineaje’s current financial position.

The company’s use of proceeds also suggests the round was intended to move Lineaje from product development toward broader enterprise distribution. That transition can require substantial spending on sales, implementation, customer support, compliance, integrations, and partner enablement.

Lineaje’s background
Lineaje was founded in 2021 by Javed Hasan and Anand Revashetti. According to coverage by TechCrunch and Lineaje’s own account of its history, the company’s name refers to software “lineage”—the origin, composition, and history of software components.
The founders’ backgrounds include cybersecurity and software-architecture experience. The company has positioned that experience around a problem that is difficult for many organizations: connecting what software contains with where it came from, how it was built, and whether it remains trustworthy after release.
Partners, customers, and public-sector work
Lineaje has highlighted relationships involving Carahsoft, Wipro, Persistent Systems, and KPMG in India. Its website also publishes references to enterprise customers including Veritas and Pure Storage. These are company-published customer references and testimonials, not independent customer research.
Lineaje also said SBOM360 received a U.S. Air Force Department of the Air Force STTR Phase I contract. In July 2025, the company announced a $1.8 million U.S. Air Force AFWERX SBIR/STTR Phase II contract involving work on software-bill-of-materials generation, vulnerability discovery, tamper detection, foreign-code-contributor identification, and “self-healing” software supply-chain innovations.
The later award is evidence of subsequent government activity, not part of the 2024 Series A transaction. “Self-healing” should also be interpreted carefully: the term does not by itself establish that Lineaje makes fully unattended production changes. Buyers should ask whether an advertised capability provides analysis, recommendations, automated pull requests, package substitution, verified patches, or another form of controlled remediation.
The Phase II announcement provides the company’s description of that later contract.

How Lineaje fits into the competitive market
Lineaje presents itself as a full-lifecycle platform rather than only a dependency scanner. That distinction matters because software-supply-chain tools can address different layers of the problem:

Lineaje’s broader scope may appeal to organizations that need a central software-supply-chain record across engineering, security, procurement, and external suppliers. A narrower tool may be more economical when the requirement is limited to dependency scanning, container scanning, basic SBOM generation, or repository security.

Anchore
Anchore emphasizes SBOM-powered software-composition analysis, container security, vulnerability scanning, malware and secrets detection, compliance, CI/CD and registry integrations, and cloud or on-premises deployment. It may be worth investigating for enterprise and public-sector buyers that prioritize application and container security.
Anchore’s pricing page shows plan information but generally directs buyers to request pricing, so a direct public-price comparison with Lineaje is not available.
JFrog
JFrog may be a natural comparison for organizations already using JFrog for artifact repositories, binary management, containers, and software distribution. Its platform materials describe software-composition analysis, SBOM generation, malicious-package detection, container and machine-learning-model scanning, and package curation.
JFrog’s pricing page listed Pro at $150 per month and Enterprise X starting at $950 per month when observed in August 2026, while higher packages and advanced security features may involve custom or additional pricing. Other alternatives
Depending on the requirement, buyers may also compare Lineaje with SCA vendors such as Black Duck, Snyk, and Mend; container-security platforms such as Prisma Cloud, Wiz, and Aqua; artifact and development platforms such as GitHub Advanced Security and GitLab Ultimate; and open-source tools such as Syft, Grype, Trivy, and OWASP Dependency-Track.

These tools may overlap with Lineaje on SBOM generation or vulnerability scanning but can differ substantially in supplier exchange, provenance, package curation, deployment options, remediation, governance, and pricing. Feature overlap should not be treated as feature parity.

- SBOM ingestion and normalization: Confirm support for relevant SPDX and CycloneDX versions, handling of malformed or incomplete files, duplicate reconciliation, and mapping across releases and environments.
- Provenance and integrity: Ask whether the system verifies origin, build metadata, signed attestations, and tampering, rather than merely cataloging components.
- Vulnerability intelligence: Review database coverage, update frequency, VEX support, reachability analysis, exploitability assessment, and prioritization beyond CVSS scores.
- Remediation controls: Determine whether fixes are recommendations, automated pull requests, package substitutions, or verified patches. Require testing, approval gates, and rollback procedures for automated changes.
- Supplier workflows: Evaluate vendor onboarding, private SBOM exchange, customer-facing portals, attestations, and evidence collection.
- Developer integration: Check for CI/CD, repository, registry, API, CLI, webhook, IDE, ticketing, and policy-enforcement integrations.
- Governance and deployment: Ask about SaaS and self-hosted options, data residency, SSO, role-based access control, audit logs, tenant isolation, and suitability for regulated or federal environments.
- Total cost: Clarify whether pricing is based on developers, applications, assets, scans, repositories, SBOMs, usage, suppliers, external users, API calls, retention, professional services, or onboarding.
Important limitations and unanswered questions
The Series A confirms investor backing, but several important financial and operating details remain undisclosed in the available materials:
- Valuation
- Revenue and annual recurring revenue
- Customer count and number of paid deployments
- Retention and expansion rates
- Gross margin
- Revenue concentration or percentage from government customers
- Detailed equity, debt, or other financing structure
There is also no public standard price list identified for Lineaje. Its website uses demo and contact-sales calls to action, which is common for enterprise security software but makes early cost comparisons difficult.

What changed after the Series A?
Two later developments are relevant when assessing Lineaje’s trajectory:
- July 2025: Lineaje announced the $1.8 million U.S. Air Force AFWERX SBIR/STTR Phase II contract.
- August 2026 positioning: Lineaje’s website described a broader product portfolio spanning SCA, SBOM and xBOM management, third-party risk, open-source package services, AI governance, and related capabilities.
These developments show continued company-reported activity after the financing. They do not independently establish commercial scale, profitability, product-market share, or superiority over competitors.
Bottom line for investors and buyers
Lineaje’s $20 million Series A was announced on July 30, 2024, led by Prosperity7 Ventures, Neotribe Ventures, and Hitachi Ventures. With $27 million in disclosed total funding, the company had capital to expand sales, international reach, public-sector access, and its software-supply-chain-security technology.
For enterprise buyers, Lineaje is most relevant when the problem extends beyond basic dependency scanning: centralized SBOM lifecycle management, supplier and customer exchange, provenance, open-source governance, third-party risk, or regulated-market evidence. A narrower SCA, container, artifact-management, or open-source tool may be a better economic fit for organizations with simpler requirements.
