The first Snapdragon X Copilot+ PCs reached Best Buy on June 18, 2024, with Microsoft, HP, Lenovo, Samsung, and Dell models priced from $999.99 at launch. That lineup has since changed: some original systems remain listed alongside newer Snapdragon models, and launch prices are no longer reliable buying prices.
For most shoppers, a Snapdragon X laptop makes sense when long unplugged use, quiet operation, thin designs, and everyday productivity matter more than gaming or legacy Windows compatibility. Check your essential apps and the exact Best Buy configuration before ordering.

- Best detachable: Microsoft Surface Pro 11, provided you budget separately for its keyboard and pen.
- Best conventional OLED laptop: Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x, if its Arm compatibility suits your software.
- Best large-screen option: Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge 16.
- Best mainstream productivity choice: HP OmniBook or Dell Inspiron 14 Plus, depending on the exact processor, display, storage, and price.

What is a Copilot+ PC?
Copilot+ is a Windows 11 hardware category, not simply a laptop with a Copilot key or access to a cloud chatbot. Microsoft’s baseline requirements include an NPU capable of at least 40 trillion operations per second, at least 16GB of RAM, at least 256GB of storage, and Windows 11 version 24H2 or later for the current feature set. The original Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus systems used a Qualcomm NPU rated at up to 45 TOPS. That number describes launch-era platform specifications; it should not be generalized to every later Snapdragon X product. Compare the exact processor identifier and retail configuration.

Why Snapdragon X laptops are different
Snapdragon X systems run Windows on Arm. The platform combines Qualcomm’s Oryon CPU, integrated Adreno graphics, a Hexagon NPU for AI workloads, LPDDR5X memory support, and—on relevant configurations—Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. Launch-era Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus designs included 10- or 12-core CPU options and support for up to 64GB of LPDDR5X memory, but retail laptops may use lower specifications.
The practical appeal is efficiency rather than a single universal speed ranking. Thin Snapdragon laptops can deliver strong performance for browsers, office work, messaging, video calls, and many creative applications while staying quiet and portable. Battery life depends on the individual laptop’s battery, screen, brightness, firmware, and workload, so “all-day battery” is not a guarantee.
Many applications now have native Arm64 versions. Microsoft lists Arm-native versions of Microsoft 365 and applications including Chrome, Slack, Spotify, Zoom, WhatsApp, Blender, Affinity, and DaVinci Resolve. Availability can vary by version and region.

The compatibility check you should do before buying
Most ordinary Windows applications can run through Microsoft’s Prism emulation layer, but native Arm64 software is generally the safest and most efficient choice. “Runs Windows apps” does not mean every program, driver, plug-in, or game behaves identically.
Before ordering, check the applications and accessories you cannot replace:
- Is the application available as native Arm64 software?
- If it is x86 or x64, is it known to work well under Prism?
- Does it install a kernel-level driver or depend on an older VPN, security, printer, scanner, or audio driver?
- Does it use anti-cheat software, virtualization, nested virtualization, or x86-only development tools?
- Are your Adobe plug-ins, extensions, peripherals, and hardware utilities compatible?
Use Microsoft’s Windows Arm FAQ and the evolving Works on WoA compatibility directory. If a work application is essential and its Arm status is unclear, an Intel or AMD Windows PC is the lower-risk purchase.
Gaming is not Snapdragon X’s strongest reason to buy
Integrated graphics can handle some games, but support depends on the game’s API, graphics drivers, emulation behavior, and anti-cheat technology. Snapdragon X should not be treated as a gaming-first platform or as a replacement for a laptop with a discrete GPU.

Even Microsoft’s Automatic Super Resolution feature has exclusions, including some x86-only games and titles using DirectX 9, Vulkan, or OpenGL. It requires Windows 11 24H2 or later plus current graphics and NPU drivers. Check the official requirements rather than assuming every supported game benefits.
How the main models differ
Surface Pro 11
Choose Surface Pro when tablet use, handwriting, portability, or a first-party Microsoft design matters most. It is less compelling if you want a traditional laptop keyboard included in the box, many built-in ports, or a simple lap-friendly experience. Confirm the keyboard and pen bundle before comparing prices.
Surface Laptop
The Surface Laptop is the straightforward clamshell choice. The 13.8-inch model favors portability; the 15-inch model favors workspace. It offers a polished general-purpose design, but high-memory and high-storage configurations can become expensive. Check the exact SKU for RAM, SSD, wireless features, and ports.

Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x
The Yoga Slim 7x is the display-focused option: a high-resolution OLED panel in a conventional, travel-friendly laptop. It is attractive when screen quality matters more than gaming or legacy compatibility. OLED improves contrast and image quality but can raise price and power consumption, and buyers should understand long-term burn-in considerations.

HP’s OmniBook line is a mainstream alternative for office, school, travel, and general productivity. Do not assume every OmniBook listing matches the original OmniBook X configuration: newer listings may use Snapdragon X Plus instead of X Elite. Compare processor, memory, storage, screen, ports, and return terms on the exact page.
Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge
The Galaxy Book4 Edge is a strong fit for shoppers who want a large AMOLED display, HDMI, a bigger chassis, and Samsung ecosystem integration. The 14-inch and 16-inch versions are not interchangeable: compare weight, battery capacity, screen size, and port layout before choosing.
Dell Inspiron 14 Plus
The Inspiron 14 Plus is the conventional productivity choice for buyers who prefer Dell’s support and retail presence. Its IPS screen may appeal less to OLED enthusiasts, but the form factor is familiar and practical. Verify whether the listing uses Snapdragon X Plus and check the included storage and memory.
ASUS Vivobook and ProArt models
The Vivobook S 15 was part of the launch-era discussion but was listed through Amazon, not as original Best Buy inventory. Newer ASUS ProArt PZ13 listings add a detachable, creator-oriented option. These systems can suit buyers who prioritize OLED quality, storage, or a flexible form factor, but creative software, plug-ins, peripherals, and GPU expectations require careful checking.
Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3x
The IdeaPad Slim 3x broadens the category into lower-cost territory. A lower price can mean compromises in display quality, processor tier, storage, build, battery, or ports. Compare the exact specification instead of treating “Snapdragon X” as a guarantee of flagship performance.

The NPU enables local or partly local AI features such as Windows Studio Effects and Live Captions, while feature availability can depend on Windows version, drivers, language, region, processor, device model, and Microsoft Store updates. Some workflows still require internet access or cloud services.

Microsoft’s current feature information includes features such as improved Windows search, Recall preview, and Click to Do preview. Recall is a preview feature, not a universal requirement. Microsoft says Recall snapshots are associated with individual user profiles and require Windows Hello Enhanced Sign-in Security. Settings and availability can change, so review Microsoft’s current Copilot+ feature information on the laptop’s Windows build.
Copilot+ is no longer solely a Snapdragon proposition. Microsoft also lists Copilot+ systems using Intel Core Ultra 200V and AMD Ryzen AI 300 platforms. Do not pay a premium for Snapdragon merely to obtain a feature that is available on a better-fitting Intel or AMD model.

What to verify on Best Buy before checkout
- Exact processor: Snapdragon X Plus and X Elite are different tiers; record the full processor identifier when shown.
- Memory and storage: 16GB/256GB base models are not equivalent to 32GB/1TB versions.
- Screen: compare LCD, OLED, and AMOLED, along with resolution, refresh rate, and brightness.
- Ports: USB-C-heavy laptops may require a dock or adapter; check for USB-A, HDMI, and headphone connectivity.
- Accessories: Surface keyboards and pens may be separate purchases.
- Condition: distinguish new, open-box, clearance, and marketplace listings.
- Stock: check shipping, store pickup, ZIP-code availability, and delivery date.
- Price: record the sale price and any stated expiration; search-result snippets are not checkout confirmation.
- Return policy: confirm it before testing compatibility with your essential software.
Best Buy search snapshots have shown the category expanding beyond the 2024 launch lineup, with models such as the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3x, HP OmniBook 5, ASUS ProArt PZ13, and newer Samsung and Microsoft configurations. Snapshot prices ranged from roughly $479.99 to $2,199.99, but those figures were not verified live checkout offers and should not be used as current prices.
When Intel, AMD, Apple, or a gaming laptop is better
Choose Intel or AMD Windows hardware when you rely on legacy applications, specialized drivers, engineering or medical software, older plug-ins, broad gaming support, virtualization, or a discrete GPU. AMD Ryzen AI systems can provide a Copilot+ alternative while retaining the x86 Windows ecosystem. Intel Core Ultra Copilot+ laptops offer another compatibility-focused route.
Choose a MacBook Air or MacBook Pro if you prefer macOS and your software is available there. Choose a gaming laptop when high-performance graphics, game support, and upgradeable or discrete-GPU hardware matter more than thinness, quiet operation, or battery efficiency.
Bottom line
Snapdragon X Copilot+ PCs are compelling Best Buy options for productivity, travel, video calls, media, and battery-conscious shoppers—especially in a well-priced OLED or detachable design. The right choice is the exact configuration with the best balance of processor tier, memory, storage, screen, ports, accessories, and return policy, not simply the model with “Snapdragon X Elite” in its name.
